Last night, I happened upon this story that describes how
"European prosecutors are likely to investigate CIA and Bush administration officials on suspicion of violating an international ban on torture if they are not held legally accountable at home..."
Now I knew before this whole incident that Obama wasn't exactly the kind of guy to keep his word, and that's putting it kindly. I was still shocked, however, when he announced that he had changed his mind about investigating those involved with the CIA memos. This was coming from a man who had said that we needed to look to the future and not to the past. Well, now it all makes sense - the EUROPEANS want him to go ahead with this witch hunt and after all, who is the President of the United States to defy the European Elite? That would be downright arrogant and dismissive...and come to think of it, derisive as well. I wondered for a long time how Obama could be living up to his promise to "bend but not break". I mean, how could he "bend" so much without breaking? Now, I see how it's possible. President Gumby will do ANYTHING to keep his socialist Euro buddies happy despite the fact that they don't respect him and probably only like him because he's easy to walk over. When the French make fun of you...
The European outrage and soon to come "investigation" (read 'Grand Inquisition') over the CIA interrogations is clearly payback for the Bush Administration's 8 year long reminder of all the reasons the United States should be leading this world. During the Bush years, the Euros were forced to take a back seat and were reminded why they were there and not driving. Of course, the collective European pride couldn't deal with this so now that the opportunity for revenge has arisen, does anyone think they won't take it? Yeah, neither do I. President Gumby, take a stand and stop your pandering...it's not becoming of a President, even one as 'flexible' as you.
