I thought I'd offer a bit of further comment, having attended the first session in Pittsburgh.
Erick has described it well here. I'd agree with all the comments he cites, and I think it would have been worth paying twice the $50 registration fee for the quality of training that I saw there. The only thing that would have improved it would have been an extra day to absorb the know-how from the trainers.
In particular Ned Ryun and Anita MonCrief were outstanding in their knowledge of campaigning and voter registration, respectively. I've never seen anyone on the Right who could match them.
I'd strongly recommend attending if you're anywhere near one of these events.
