Most newspapers and news shows are paying attention to an AP News story that suggests the Republican Governors are in conflict with the House Republicans. You have to really dig through the story to find that most Governors are pretty passive on the issue, not willing to look the "gift horse in the mouth," but at least 5 are openly opposed to the Reid-Pelosi Debt Bill.
So here's the deal-- we need to ensure that the Governors don't go wobbly on the issue because of their real and pressing needs. We need to remind them of the need for leadership and a little sacrifice. Taking the easy way out for federal funds will only lead to more squabbling down the road about how their state isn't getting a fair share, and we'll repeat the 1970s all over again. Been there, done that.
