Just when you thought the left couldn't sink any lower, they can surprise even me.
I moved to NW Arkansas 6 months ago. For over 45 years, I lived in the Chicago suburbs. I knew Chicago Mayor Richard M. "Shortshanks" Daley* had been making a push to bring the 2016 Summer Olympics to Chicago for quite awhile. Like so many of those that still live there, I was against it. One of the reasons had to do with the additional disruption that would be caused by all the construction for the Games (on top of the usual construction disruption that goes on all the time), not to mention the disruption to those who live in the area once the events started. I have a cousin who lived in Barcelona, Spain during the 1992 Games there, and she and her husband left for the two weeks the Olympics were taking place. The other reason has to do with the financial windfall the thoroughly corrupt Chicago and Illinois politicians would most assuredly amass on the project.
Then President Obama got involved. My question remains, what for? Unlike those people who dote on The One, the rest of the world doesn't worship the President like the American left does. Chicago didn't need the Olympic Games, and the President didn't need to throw his hat into this ring. It seems Obama makes it a point to either involve himself in the stupidest things, like the Gates' fiasco; Obama's gi-normous ego must compel him to do these things. Needless to say, I wasn't at all unhappy when I heard Chicago was tossed from getting the 2016 Games during the first round of voting. Not so unexpectedly, Obama's worshiping enablers are doing everything they can to blame what happened on conservatives.
Obama and his minions continuously say that Obama has only the best interests of the country in mind when he says or does anything. It's a lie. Just about everything Obama says and does is only to further Obama's interests and ego, and this whole Olympics thing was another example of it. You know how you can tell how ridiculous they, and Obama, sound? They dare to question the patriotism of conservatives over Chicago's losing the Olympics while simultaneously ignoring their own collective short-term memories about how Obama and the left tried to deliberately undermine the efforts of those defending our freedoms in Iraq.
Allah and Ace link to a Politico piece that has quite a few quotes from those on the left and the right about the Olympics fiasco. I won't bore you with all of them, but both Allah and Ace note a "tool" the Politico interviewed, Daily Kos' Markos Moulitsas:
Moulitsas was more blunt. “So when did wingnuts start cheering against America? Their unbridled joy at losing out to Brazil is a bit unseemly, isn’t it?” he asked, adding: “America, f—- yeah!” has become “F—- America, Yeah!”
This is the same disgusting worm who said this a few years ago, and never retracted it [emphasis from Ace]:
Every death should be on the front page (2.70 / 40)
Let the people see what war is like. This isn't an Xbox game. There are real repercussions to Bush's folly.
That said, I feel nothing over the death of merceneries. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them.
It was this kind of talk that got Moulitsas to become a "darling" amongst leftists, the leftwing media, and Democrats. Now he gets to be part of the "fashionable" crowd. All for trashing those who were in Iraq. And now this "tool" has the gall to say conservatives are cheering against America. Of course, a jerk like Moulitsas would never believe that anything he ever said was akin to cheering against America, even though that is what he did.
Anonymous Liberal, another "darling" of the left, displays his own cluelessness on Twitter:
Trying to imagine how conservatives would react if Dems openly rooted for U.S. to lose an Olympic bid and cheered when we lost it.
Again, Dems and leftists openly rooted for the U.S. to lose in Iraq. But they have a collective amnesia when it comes to that little detail.
We can also add the MSNBC "news" people to this mix as well. When last we saw the "Morning Meeting" crew of Dylan Ratigan and Contessa Brewer, they were trying to incite a race war. NewBusters catches Ratigan acting like something other than an objective journalist [emphasis from original]:
MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer complained, "Can you imagine this that some people actually went as far as to cheer?" This led Ratigan to froth, "Sure. I mean, there are people that are actually trying to derail health care in order to take down Obama, even if it means half the country dies. So, of course, they don't care about Chicago’s Olympics. Are you kidding me?"
One should expect this kind of garbage from Obama toadies Olbermann, Maddow, Matthews, and Schultz. But not of the so-called "news" people. But as we've seen, there isn't really anyone at MSNBC that is an objective journalist.
This has to be one of the left's lowest and hypocritical moments, something that is amazing for those who excel at being hypocrites.
