Komen Foundation Struggling; NYT Refuses to Say Why

JWF had this to say after the Komen Foundation caved to the lefty hate crowd following its decision to restore its previously renounced Planned Parenthood funding:

Komen had seen a huge increase in financial support despite the relentlessly negative publicity. We’ll see how long that lasts now that they’re back in bed with the abortionists from Planned Parenthood.

The New York Times lets us know:

Susan G. Komen for the Cure may have popularized the color pink as a universal symbol of breast cancer fund-raising. But these days, many of the breast cancer foundation’s local affiliates are singing the blues.

And yet, neither the Times or those Komen people they interviewed give the real definitive reason.

It is a fact that conservatives are much more generous with their own money than progressives/liberals. I mean, when Nicholas Kristoff of the New York Times and Tony Lee of Human Events agree, you know something is at play. Both cite the American Enterprise Institute’s Arthur C. Brooks book Who Really Cares as the major reference point. Ted Biondo of the Rockford Register Star links to a piece Brooks wrote in the Wall Street Journal that reiterated what he said in his book.

In late January/early February, 2012, Komen decided that it was going to stop sending funds to Planned Parenthood as several of PP’s affiliates were under investigation by Congress. The positive response was immediate; both the Daily Caller and Hot Air reported that Komen’s donations went up 100% in the two prior days (donations to PP were up as well, with supporters claiming they wanted to cover the supposed shortfall). But the hateful pro-abortion fanatics’ response was ferocious as they lied about and bullied Komen with all kinds of false allegations and accusations.

And sure enough, as mentioned by JWF and Forbes on February 3, 2012, Komen gave in to the bullying by the pro-abortion zealots and restored the funding to PP.

So now we come to the piece in the Times. Left out of the “narrative” is the why. Conservatives give more of their own money while progressives/liberals are cheap. Komen saw the windfall from the real givers after they had dropped PP from its funding list; now they are reaping what they have sown after restoring the funding. That is why Komen is struggling.

Komen has the haters, the pro-abortion zealots, cheap progressives/liberals, and lies from the New York Times and the Democrat media to thank for it. The bullies are the people who truly don’t care about women or women’s health, putting their sick and demented ideology first to politicize Komen’s actions. If Komen wants to restore donations from those who give, Komen needs to dump Planned Parenthood again. Because it’s obvious that those who say they support Planned Parenthood aren’t giving money to Komen or Komen wouldn’t be in the financial straits they are in.
