I want to get two things out of the way before going on. First, the nascent Libyan government is just getting off the ground, still very weak, yet seems to be wanting to work with the U.S. Like Iraq following the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, they have a very long way to go. Second, I hope the actions of Hillary Clinton prove to reasonable Americans (which leaves out Democrats) once and for all that she is as unfit to be President as her boss; it also proves that the only reason Hillary has a job in politics, and this is just about her, is because her "husband" was once President of the United States. Hopefully, Clinton's political career is permanently wrecked.
Now to the post. Via Ann Althouse, the Sec. of State delivered what ABC News called a "powerful religion speech." Either weak-willed morons or Democrat media hacks promoting the Obama agenda instead of reporting the news would think this speech was powerful. Clinton gave two speeches on Thursday regarding religion. Far from being "powerful," they were a reiteration of the Obama regime's own attacks on religion and free speech via remarks like those made by Clinton and Obama and through policies Obama and his regime have put in place. The irony should not be lost on anyone, except for those who will blindly vote for Obama.
In the speech mentioned by ABC (linked by Althouse), Clinton said the following [empahsis mine]:
Unfortunately, however, over the last 24 hours, we have also seen violence spread elsewhere. Some seek to justify this behavior as a response to inflammatory, despicable material posted on the internet. As I said earlier today, the United States rejects both the content and the message of that video.
What a load of bull. Clinton, her boss, and other Democrats are still falsely pushing the notion that a video is what led to all this rioting and the murder of Americans, including an ambassador, in order to cover up the Obama regime's absolute failures in its foreign policy and its intelligence apparatus.
Obama's outreach to Muslim radicals was doomed to failure before it began. He and his regime, along with Democrat politicians and their supporters, still haven't learned the lessons of Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait in 1991 and the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks: both Hussein and bin Laden perceived weakness in America. For the former, Hussein thought the U.S. government under the first President Bush was indifferent to the Iraqi dictator's designs on Kuwait; the latter, bin Laden sensed weakness following the abandoning of Somalia by the current Sec. of State's husband when he was President. Both misread the resolve of the American people and the Presidents who responded to those attacks (in bin Laden's case, he compounded his mistake by attacking when a different President was in office, not the one that had left Somalia hanging in the wind). But Obama and Clinton are actively returning the U.S. to that state of weakness at the end of both Carter's and Bill Clinton's terms in office. It is leading them to a series of fatal errors, as was proven this weak in Benghazi.
(I could interject here that the second President Bush didn't exactly help America's standing in the Muslim world with its attempts at nation building in Afghanistan and Iraq, but this policy is not what is being discussed.)
There is much evidence to impeach President Obama and a large number of his minions in the regime; you can add the Sec. of State to the list for her malfeasance. In Obama's case, this was wholly egregious:
According to the public schedule of the president, the last time the Obama attended his daily intelligence meeting was Sept. 5 — a week before Islamist radicals stormed our embassy in Cairo and terrorists killed our ambassador to Tripoli. The president was scheduled to hold the intelligence meeting at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, the day after the attacks, but it was canceled so that he could comfort grieving employees at the State Department — as well he should. But instead of rescheduling the intelligence briefing for later in the day, Obama apparently chose to skip it altogether and attend a Las Vegas fundraiser for his re-election campaign. One day after a terrorist attack.
Thiessen goes on to say that Obama gets the daily intelligence information, but less than half the time discusses it with intelligence officials (it probably gets in the way of campaigning and golf). Per Thiessen, the spokesmouth for the National Security Council said Obama "can forgo his daily intelligence meeting because he is, in Vietor’s words, 'among the most sophisticated consumers of intelligence on the planet.'” In other words:
But when it comes to intelligence, Obama is apparently so brilliant he can absorb the most complicated topics by himself in his study.
Apparently Obama isn't all that brilliant, is he? After all, this supreme absorber of intelligence, along with the Sec. of State, forgot to send American guards to the American compound in Benghazi even after it was bombed three months ago. This supreme absorber of intelligence, along with the Sec. of State, missed that there was noise following the drone killing of one of Al Qaeda's top terrorists. This supreme absorber of intelligence, along with the Sec. of State, missed that the anniversay of the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks was coming up. And finally, this supreme absorber of intelligence didn't know that Islamist radicals and terrorists had found an obscure video on Youtube and intended to make mayhem, including murdering American government officials in Libya. Now, I'm not saying Obama, Clinton, and the intelligence apparatus knew or could have known exactly what was going to happen, especially in Benghazi. But instead of making some quiet preparations, like sending a platoon or two of Marines to vulnerable government facilities that had already been attacked by terrorists (or signing contracts with security firms, something reportd by the British media and not the Democrat media) and before Americans were killed instead of after, and putting our embassies and consulates on an even more heightened state of alert than they were on, they did nothing substantial. Nothing. Think about that.
Then, the regime run by one of the most "sophisticated consumers of intelligence" decided to respond to the growing unrest in Egypt by displaying an utter act of weakness by denouncing the video instead of figuring out how to protect sovereign American territory, doubling-down on this idiocy as the mayhem progressed before finally deciding this denunciation was giving Obama's opponent a clear and timely opportunity to rightly explain the regime's weak and feckless Muslim outreach foreign policy fiasco. Naturally, Obama attempted to deflect Mitt Romney through projection, saying the GOP candidate is "inclined to shoot from the hip," when it was actually Obama's embassy who did just that with their sniveling response to the Egyptian government-sponsored assault on the U.S. embassy in Cairo. This deflection of the Obama regime's failures is still going on as his minions still want people to believe all of this was caused by a video. Worse, the Obama regime, with a major assist from the Democrat media, is actually helping the terrorists who killed Americans on 9/11/2012 and working actively to violate the First Amendment and censor the video.
Then, of course, there is the corrupt Democrat media (anyone not called Fox News, along with the few conservative-leaning newspapers), like those who would have Americans believe Hillary gave a "powerful religion speech." Except for a noticeable few (Jake Tapper, who is an excellent reporter), the Obama propaganda outlets masquerading as news services made it a point to ignore the inept and incompetent Obama regime. The worst has been Chris "Tingles" Matthews. But there are so many others. The most comical came from one of Tingles' colleagues at the DNC's MSLSD network, faux Republican Joe Scarborough on his "Morning Schmo" program (H/T: Mark Levin for the names). Newsbusters caught the idiot saying this:
Talk about the conservative critique--and I think it's a fair critique, the conservative critique: that all you guys in the media were talking about Mitt Romney, you should have talked about the warnings with the embassy, etc., etc. And yes perhaps we should have. But you know who didn't allow us to do that?...
Mitt Romney...Romney got in the way of the media looking at the president...
Wow. Who knew Mitt Romney had that kind of power. Romney must have used his Jedi Master powers learned from Sith Lord Darth Cheney to force the Democrat media to ignore the tragic blunders of their beloved Obama regime.
The full exchange with Scarborough's fellow idiot Mika Brzezinski is at the link; do read it. But these bits highlight the thinking of the "Morning Schmo" moron.
Again, this is all an attempt to cover up for the Obama regime's foreign policy and intelligence failures.
But you know what really disgusts me? The craven hypocrisy from Obama, Clinton, and the rest of the regime. From the Clinton speech:
The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others...
People of faith and conscience are called to be the leaders of tolerance.
The puppet Democrat media lets its masters get away with saying this kind of garbage. At what point has Obama and his regime exhibited one iota of "tolerance" to the people's religious beliefs? When has Obama and his regime not denigrated the religious beliefs of others? In one stroke, Obama took progressive intolerance and religious denigration to whole new level by violating the Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses of the U.S. Constitution, a document Obama swore on a Bible to defend, when he and his regime put through the contraception/abortifacient mandate via Obamacare. Using the arguments of a petulant child and a small-minded bureaucrat, Obama and the regime decided that religious activity was relegated to the physical confines of a place of devotion (at least for now) and the home (maybe). Claiming to be devoted Christians, Obama and Clinton must have missed the parts of the Bible where health care, education, and charity were just as much a part of the Christian faith as going to church and praying. And yet, these hypocrites dare speak of some of their fellow Americans being intolerant and denigrating other religions, especially one that deserves to be denigrated and still insists to its adherents that they stick to living as if it were the 14th Century.
Oh, the irony.
The only advice I can offer is the motto of the Boy Scouts of America (another group targeted by this regime for wanting its members to adhere to their faiths). Be prepared. Obama and his regime are much more corrupt and lethal than Al Capone and the Mafia ever were. Be warned.
