Obama’s New Jim Crow

Dr. Cornell West is no fan of Jim Crow nor President Obama’s Chicago Machine style of plantation politics.  In an age where millions clamor for jobs, the Obama Jim Crow style is be quiet or we’ll isolate you and scare you into submission.  We’ve seen 5 years of this with no real change.  Obama does this to the GOP with every new idea, its trash talk and blame from day one while pretending to be bipartisan.   Is it no wonder the GOP and even Dems have a hard time negotiating with such a close minded President?

West criticized the president for not saying “a mumbling word until now” about what West calls “the new Jim Crow.”

Liberal activist and scholar Dr. Cornel West last week used the ‘n-word’ to describe black leadership  that he said is “subservient” to President Barack Obama.

“We’ve got a black leadership that is deferential to Obama, that is subservient to Obama, and that’s what n—–izing is. You keep folks so scared. You keep folks so intimidated. You can give them money, access, but they’re still scared. And as long as you’re scared, you’re on the plantation,” West said in a July 22 interview on “Democracy Now!”

West criticized the president for not saying “a mumbling word until now” about what West calls “the new Jim Crow.”

We’ve got a black leadership that is deferential to Obama, that is subservient to Obama, and that’s what n—–izing is. You keep folks so scared. You keep folks so intimidated. You can give them money, access, but they’re still scared. And as long as you’re scared, you’re on the plantation.

And at the same time, I think we have to recognize that he has been
able to hide and conceal that criminalizing of the black pooras
what I call the re-n-----izing of the black professional class. You’ve
got these black leaders on the Obama plantation, won’t say criminal
word about the master in the big house, will only tryto tame the
field folk so that they’re not critical of the master in the big
house,” he said.

And when they don’t, they’re going to have to somehow contain that rage.
And in containing that rage, there’s going to be many people who say,
‘No, we see, this president is not serious about the criminalizing of
poor people

What we have here are blacks calling out Obama for failures within the family and community coupled with a criminal justice system that sometimes isn’t fair.  As well West is right Obama has become a major part of the failed Washington Establishment that seeks to make problems go away unless they can reshape the argument towards the GOP or anyone but the president.  I don’t think Obama can make this one go away but the GOP and the conservative media should take it to Obama for this is a good time to change the way Civil Rights leaders operate.

For too long Reverend’s Sharpton and Jackson have sought to seek out the grievances to vilify and aid people in need while reshaping the crime to make money and call for change.   Problem is they love the money and fame and these 2 men are part of the DC Establishment while Cornell West is saying that game isn’t working.   Obama isn’t working for real change, just more of the same old same old.  Till we reshape how Civil Rights leaders operate and take the debate into troubled communities, Obama’s New Jim Crow shall fester as blacks suffer.
