Obama’s Hummer in Delaware

Ever hear a song and get it just enough to know most of the words, but not what they all mean? Or maybe you just sort of think you know them, but what you heard wasn’t exactly what the band was playing?

Conservative Republican Christine O’Donnell is locked in a tight race in Delaware with “bearded Marxist” leftist Democrat Chris Coons.  O’Donnell has been gaining on Coons in the polls, as more and more voters in Delaware realize that Coons really does dance to Barack Obama’s tune. But his mastery of the lyrics leaves a little to be desired.

It’s fully embedded now in the pop culture, liberal media, and among the wizards of smart who stalk the fern bars and cocktail parties of Georgetown that Christine O’Donnell is a pretty little piece of fluff. “No chance to win” I think is the phrase they like to bandy about while nodding reassuringly at one another, tapping their feat to the beat of the same drum.

But little did we know how much trouble she was going to be. Because something appears to have her close, or possibly ahead of, Chris Coons. Perhaps it’s that Coons only catches the economic song about halfway. He knows the words, but not necessarily what they all mean.

An economic recession, for instance, usually means two or more quarters of no economic growth, or contraction. Even colloquially, it means a period of lackluster economic growth. When economic growth happens, by definition a recession is over.

Notice the reaction of Ms. O’Donnell when Coons educates us all:

You can stop the music after about 15 seconds. The whole clip is worth watching, in case you were wondering why people think Christine O’Donnell will be the next Senator from Delaware.

Friends in Delaware, Get Out The Vote! We have our own states to take care of, but electing Christine O’Donnell to the Senate will be a slap in the face to the wizards of smart.

It’s important to put her there. The more people we put in the Senate who share our understanding of sound economics, the better. Let’s keep out the people who just sort of hum along.
