The White House is occupied by a Republican.
The House of Representatives has a Republican majority.
The Senate has a Republican majority.

So why are Democrats winning the battle to preserve the policies they passed under Obama?

The answer is weak Republicans. Foremost among them is Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority leader. He is not interested in small government and free markets, and he is even less interested in disrupting the status quo in Washington.

Unfortunately, it seems there are only three Senators who consistently prod McConnell to fight for conservative principles: Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz.

They are all from solid red states, and all solid red states should be electing such Senators. Unfortunately, more often than not they fail to do so.

In Alabama’s Senate special election, Mitch McConnell and the GOP establishment are working hard to keep one of their loyal pawns, the recently appointed Luther Strange, in office for a full term. Strange is another yes-man for the do-nothing majority. Someone who talks about how great Donald Trump is to his constituents, all while making sure the swamp is full to the brim. Strange is currently running second in the polling.

The candidate Strange is trailing is Judge Roy Moore, a true conservative who backs down to no one. Indeed, as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Moore twice defied an overreaching federal judiciary, and was removed from his post both times as a result. If there were ever a man who cared more about his principles than his power, it is Judge Roy Moore.

Mitch McConnell will not be able to tell Judge Roy Moore how to vote:

Judge Roy Moore responded Tuesday night to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s apparent concern that the conservative firebrand would be “difficult to manage” if he were elected to be Alabama’s next U.S. senator in the upcoming special election.

In a campaign appearance before the Coffee County Republican Club in southern Alabama, the former chief justice was asked about a CNN article saying McConnell does not want to add a “conservative rebel in a GOP conference already difficult to manage.” The comment was certainly a reference to Moore, who is leading in the race, according to the most recent polling.

“Now, I just want to make Mitchell McConnell to know,” the judge said in response, “I’m not difficult to manage. It’s impossible for him to manage me.”

Moore came out strongly against the now-capsized GOP healthcare bill, stating:

As Senator Paul has pointed out, this Senate bill does NOT repeal Obamacare, it only serves to subsidize Obamacare’s death spiral with billions in tax payer monies. The only solution to this nightmare is for Republicans to follow the lead of Senator Paul, oppose this disaster, and actually fulfill their years long promise of FULLY REPEALING Obamacare!
