1979 Graduates High School leaves Hawaii for Occidental College in Los Angelas, CA - Closest Mainland College he can afford1981 - Transfers to Columbia University, NY, NY studies political science and realizes the power that can be found in the political arena1983 - Does some private work for Business International Corporation and then at the New York Public Interest Research Group. Realizes he is going no where fast in getting fame and power and looks around the country to the place he can go to get into politics, of all city's in America Chicago has the best democratic machine1985 - 1988 Puts his time in "working for the people " as a community organizer in Chicago's Southside - meets all the right people and decides a better education will move him along1988 - Joins Trinity church - guaranteeing the African American vote and fully becoming part of the machine1988 - Enters Harvard Law School to become what most politicians in America are a Lawyer - Puts himself on the national scene by becoming the first African-American to be head of the Harvard Law Review - starts to realize his dream1992 - 2004 - Graduates Harvard moves back to Chicago - Joins the staff of University of Chicago Law School - does a huge voter drive keeping his name in the public eye - releases his first book 1995 - founding member of the board of directors of Public Allies in 1992, board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago,board of directors The Joyce Foundation board of directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challengeboard of directors of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the Center for Neighborhood Technology, and the Lugenia Burns Hope Center.All of this work keeps him in the eye of the public and continues his involvement with the Chicago Party machine1996 -2004 - The dream is first realized he succeeds State Senator Alice Palmer - Durring this time he touches on all the Democrat points, helping out poor people by dumping money into them, monitor racial profiling and avoid any bills that may be controversial by voting present2000 - Attempted the national race he lost a Democratic primary run for the U.S. House of Representatives Bobby Rush 2004 - Runs for Senate - the dream is coming closer to the national level - Does what any person runs would do and removes all competition by checking that the i's are dotted and the t's crossed.2002 - Obama saw the writing on the Dem wall and voted against the Iraq war making a name for himself within the Dem party
Now I don't knock him for realizing what he wants and getting it but we need perspective on who he is and how he got to where he is.
