Long considered the bible of socialist thought for progressives, Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto has been an essential tool—kind of like a hammer and sickle—for politicians, union members, and tenured college professors to spread the idea that Marx’s work in the area of economics laid the basis for understanding labor and its relation to capital.
In the first two sections of his book, Marx describes the plight of the working class and how Communism holds the answer to the inequities suffered by the Proletarians (poor working-class) at the hands of the Bourgeois (the wealthy). In outlining his goals for how communism would accomplish this goal, Marx laid out the following:
Abolition of Property in Land and Application of all Rents of Land to Public Purpose.
A Heavy Progressive or Graduated Income Tax.
Abolition of All Rights of Inheritance.
Confiscation of the Property of All Emigrants and Rebels.
Centralization of Credit in the Hands of the State, by Means of a National Bank with State Capital and an Exclusive Monopoly.
Centralization of the Means of Communication and Transport in the Hands of the State.
Extension of Factories and Instruments of Production Owned by the State, the Bringing Into Cultivation of Waste Lands, and the Improvement of the Soil Generally in Accordance with a Common Plan.
Equal Liability of All to Labor. Establishment of Industrial Armies, Especially for Agriculture.
Combination of Agriculture with Manufacturing Industries; Gradual Abolition of the Distinction Between Town and Country by a More Equable Distribution of the Population over the Country.
Free Education for All Children in Public Schools. Abolition of Children’s Factory Labor in it’s Present Form. Combination of Education with Industrial Production.
Almost looks like an outline for an Obama fundraising speech, doesn’t it?
Clearly, the primary objective of Communism as described by Marx is the destruction of capitalism as the engine of economic activity and success. However, as the left continues to spread the lie of glo-BULL warming and the imaginary cure to end it—if the problem is imaginary, the cure has to be too—we have a whole new reason to embrace Communism.
That reason? Communism will end glo-BULL warming. Check out this excerpt from the Daily Caller:
Environmentalists have declared that global warming can’t be stopped without ending the “hegemonic capitalist system,” saying that cap-and-trade systems and conservation efforts are “false solutions.”
“The structural causes of climate change are linked to the current capitalist hegemonic system,” reads the final draft of the Margarita Declaration, presented at a conference including about 130 environmental groups.
“To combat climate change it is necessary to change the system,” the declaration adds.
Environmental activists met in the oil-producing, socialist country of Venezuela as part of a United Nations-backed event to increase civil engagement in the lead up to a major climate conference.
Karl Marx would be proud.
