Well, gay activists have started yet another hate campaign against yet another company, employing some Cirque-du-Soleil type of mental gymnastics to misrepresent one man’s response to a simple question asked during an interview with a Christian publication.
It seems that a business owner’s personal beliefs are enough for these hysterical screechers to run to anyone who will listen and scream “It’s not fair!” in order to advance their personal agenda. As one person put it:
….the split-second reaction from these activists is to slander…. [a] company in the press and blogosphere. It just takes one company taking an alternative position to make the gay activists and liberal press hit the ceiling. But that’s where we are today.”
Stanton said the message by some opponents of Chick-fil-A apparently is, “Speak up for the natural, traditional family and we will come after you.”
“If you don’t believe this,” Stanton said, “just watch how Chick-fil-A will be treated in the coming months. They [Chick-fil-A’s critics] are the new close-minded fundamentalists.”
Of course, it is only Christian and Jewish businesses which get targeted – apparently the gay lobby has no problem with Muslim-owned businesses. It seems that some pork is more equal than others.
Unfortunately, many of those in high places not only allow this nonsense to continue, they allow themselves to be dragged into the conversation as well. Apparently, there is no vote for which some politicians will refuse to pander, so now we have to listen to public officials getting up on their high horses and bloviating about “What’s Right”.
The latest business to come under fire is Chick-Fil-A, and the activists have the usual suspects dancing to their tune once again. This time, the most visible politicians are the mayors of Chicago and Boston.
Both of these gentlemen are sanctimoniously proclaiming that they will not allow Chick-Fil-A to open restaurants in their cities because the president of the company has the audacity to support the concept of traditional marriage.
Have these men ever SEEN the lines that stretch around a Chick-Fil-A restaurant at feeding time?
Those restaurants can’t beat customers off with a stick. NOBODY says to themself, “This line is too long – I’m gonna go eat somewhere else” – no, they wait patiently for their turn to order some of the most delicious chicken sandwiches known to man (when I found out that I couldn’t eat wheat products any more, I almost burst into tears at the thought of never again being able to order a #1 with no pickles. I still miss them, all these years later).
Given these gentlemens’ positions on the businesses which they “allow” to operate in their fine cities, the hypocrisy of their statements boggles the mind.
These gentlemen refuse to let a wildly successful Christian-owned business open within their city limits because of its president’s personal beliefs about marriage, but they don’t have any problem with allowing any number of Muslim-owned businesses to operate in their towns.
The Islamic faith clearly abhors homosexual behavior, and in most countries they do a whole lot more than excommunicate members who are found “guilty” of what they perceive to be a crime.
Why aren’t the gay activists targeting THOSE businesses?
“Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston. You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population. We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion,” Menino told the Herald yesterday.
“That’s the Freedom Trail. That’s where it all started right here. And we’re not going to have a company, Chick-fil-A or whatever the hell the name is, on our Freedom Trail.”
A quick Internet search turns up over 60 Halal restaurants within 5 miles of City Hall in the same town which houses the “Menino Mosque” – an establishment which Boston’s mayor worked long and hard to bring to his “tolerant” city. Is Mayor Menino going to shut down this mosque if they refuse to endorse gay marriage?
“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors and our family members. And if you’re gonna be part of the Chicago community, you should reflect Chicago values.”
Alderman Joe Moreno chimed in as well:
“Same sex marriage, same-sex couples — that’s the civil rights fight of our time. To have those discriminatory policies from the top down is just not something that we’re open to. …We want responsible businesses .” (NSFW)
In the city which recently invited Louis Farakhan’s Nation of Islam (a Black Supremacist organization) to walk their streets in an effort to curb crime, there are 57 Halal restaurants within a 5-mile radius of the downtown area alone. Chicago’s mayor apparently had no problem granting a business license to a restaurant that is owned and operated by Mr. Farakhan’s Nation Of Islam, the Salaam Restaurant (their food looks yummy):
Last time I checked, Chick-Fil-A didn’t have a huge cross sitting in any of their restaurants’ parking lots….
I don’t know about the rest of the country, but I am getting sick and tired of listening to this small minority of people – and it is a tiny subset of the gay community – who are convinced that their agenda is more important than any other issue out there.
I am also sick and tired of being called an intolerant hypocrite by a miniscule group of people who refuse to acknowledge that they are some of the most intolerant and hypocritical people out there these days.
What the gay lobby doesn’t want people to ever find out is just how FEW gay people there really are in this country. If voters ever stopped to do a quick Internet search, they would be shocked at the numbers, and they would start to wonder why so much time, effort, and money is being spent on this boutique issue.
You are pandering to a group which represents 0.38% of the entire US population.
How many votes do ya figure that adds up to?
