The Defeatist attitudes by some establishment republicans is causing alarm bells to ring with the GOP base. The great majority of the conservative grassroots have a distrust of the party and elected leaders who continuously flee from a fight over Obamacare. They keep coming up with more and more excuses as to why they can’t fight, and they are intentionally causing confusion with the American people over what they are really saying and doing in DC.
The result is that more and more Americans are willing to see the government shut down than see Obamacare funded (Rasmussen poll).
We the People have just had enough. We have had enough of the lies, excuses, tantrums, threats, and of being ignored. At this point we have realized that they really DO think we are stupid, or they don’t care what we think. I don’t know which is worse.
Senator Ted Cruz’s 21 hour, epic speech from the Senate floor earlier this week has caused heads to pop all over DC in the elitist circles of the media and the establishment on both sides of the aisle. They really think HE is the cause of this revolt by We the People. They just don’t get it. He is the messenger, and they are shooting him. Each shot at Ted Cruz is a shot at the millions of Americans that support him. Each shot they take makes him stronger with the base. Each shot they take weakens their next election bid. Thank the lucky stars for Senator Cruz and Senator Mike Lee, without them leading this fight we wouldn’t have a voice in the inner sanctum of the US Senate.
Which brings me to the point of this post this morning. I read a blog post on the national 912 PAC website and about spit my coffee all over the dog as I was reading it (my dog likes to sit in my lap while I scan through various news stories on my phone). The dog survived unscathed, however the phone got a bit of a bath.
Andrew T. Hartford wrote a warning to the elitists in power, basically calling them Vichy Republicans (for those of us who are not familiar with French history, click here for the history lesson). After John McCain blew a gasket over being called Neville Chamberlain, he surely won’t like this blog post.
In part (I don’t want to ruin the whole thing for you):
“Enough. I could quote Oncken & monkeys, but you wouldn’t understand it anyway. Obamacare is not the camel’s nose of government oppression inching in under the tent. It’s a whole head & neck and front forequarter coming in with hump and the rest to follow shortly. I do not want to share my tent with a camel and all the fleas & ticks that come with it. I don’t care if the camel runs away & drags my tent to the horizon. I’m gonna beat the fucking camel as hard as I can with anything I can get my hands on. I’m not sharing my tent with a goddamned camel. I’d rather live alone and on my own in the desert, thank you very much.
Or at least that’s the way a great big bunch of Americans and a majority of the GOP base sees it. This is a lot bigger than just parliamentary maneuver. This is the whole goddamned ballgame to a whole fucking lot of people. “
I know, I know, LANGUAGE Toby, LANGUAGE (my husband told me to bleep the bad words, but I’m not about to censor anyone that feels this strongly, and we do still have the right to free speech, unless Diane Frankenstien gets her way to re-define the first amendment and change the bill of rights to the bill of privileges – that’s a story for another day).
At the end of today we shall know who were fighters of liberty and who were cowards who let the freaking camel live in the tent with the rest of us. It’s time to act like animal control officers and remove the offensive beast from our tents.
I’m off to watch the cloture vote, I may need a Shiner by noon.
