Hi, I'm Ron Wyden, Democrat Senator from the great state of Oregon, home to the Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers, Portland Trailblazers, and hopefully one thousand Oregon Ducks Nike Pro Combat uniforms; sadly no amount of snazzy uniforms will help the Ducks play better on defense. That being said, I proudly endorse the choice of Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney's running mate. Paul and I have a great working relationship and prove that despite differing political philosophies and party affiliation, we can break through the partisan gridlock and get things done for the American people, like the Ryan Budget.
With all due respect to my fellow Democrats the Ryan budget is not extreme nor does it seek to end Medicare as we know it. I know this to be true because Congressman Ryan and I worked on the budget together. Yes, you heard me correctly, the Ryan Budget is actually the Ryan/Wyden budget. So if my fellow Democrats in their desperation to save President Obama's job wish to incorrectly paint this budget as extreme, or somehow tag Paul Ryan as the architect behind the plan then I for one cannot allow that to happen. After all, what could I say? Disavow and oppose a budget I help craft? That would make me a hypocrite. Although the lies from my party could spell trouble for my own future campaign because again, not only do I support the plan, I'm one of it's chief authors..meaning I'm the other guy who help Paul Ryan create this budget.
So I guess in the end the attacks might not work after all, and the idea that this budget is a yoke around Congressman Ryan's neck well, that might not be entirely accurate. I mean heck, if it's so extreme then why does it have Democrat support?
