Having spent the past two years since the 2008 election intimately engaged with the Progressive Left on the battlefield of ideas, I've come to a few conclusions. The first being that Progressives assign motive to every action and are incapable of thought beyond their prescribed ideology.
When Rahm Emanuel made the now infamous comment during an interview with the Wall Street Journal that "you never want a serious crisis to go to waste", he was simply espousing what he naturally believed to be normal, accepted thought. Rahm had no idea at the time that he was actually betraying the very creed of the Progressive Left.
Since 2008, we've also witnessed a resurgence of political propaganda that would make Woodrow Wilson proud. The now standard play on words that results in legislation that drives healthcare costs through the roof being called the 'Affordable Health Care Act'!
Or, as the global warming signs became buried in snow drifts, the clever transformation to 'climate change' - after all, how can anyone dispute that the climate changes???
All of which leads to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper's comments yesterday before Congress, which scare the hell out of me. Clapper said, "The term Muslim Brotherhood is an umbrella term for a variety of movements. In the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence..."
When making a statement that flies in the face of truth and reality, my experience has told me that you can be sure the Progressive Left have an agenda. When the term 'democratic revolution' is tossed about, such as it is now with what's happening in Egypt, I immediately think of the FCC's Chief Diversity Officer Mark Lloyd, who referred to Chavez' rise to power in Venezuela as "an incredible revolution - a democratic revolution."
And now the Obama administration wants us to believe that the Muslim Brotherhood is a diverse, non-religous organization? My guess is that the only diversity in this group is how long you allow your beard to grow.
More importantly, though, why does the Progressive Left want us to believe this nonsense? When I first heard that 60's radicals Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn were involved in the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, another beautiful play on words, I told a friend that this marriage of convenience between revolutionary radicals and religious fanatics is not going to turn out very well.
At the time, though, I couldn't understand why the left would have an interest in Middle East affairs.
Which takes us back to the Progressive Left's goal of "fundamentally transforming the United States of America". The desire is to move this country away from the "suicidal gray capitalism" that we know as free enterprise toward an economic system more comparable to the European Socialist model, where government provides for the masses.
The quickest way for this to come about is for capitalism to fail, which brings us back to Egypt. The fall of Egypt is but another domino in the desired move away from the Western civilization way of life that is all brought about by free market principles.
Don't fool yourself into thinking that this great revolution happening in Egypt evolved naturally, although the Egyptians have every motive to want to do so. Just as they've had for 30 years with no effort until now. This is an orchestrated effort that has been carefully planned by the far left, socialists and the Muslim Brotherhood.
What more proof do you need than the now solidly left American media's soft selling of the Muslim Brotherhood?
The extreme danger here, akin to playing with nitro glycerin, is that the left believes they'll be able to join forces with radical Islam to further their goals and then simply dismiss the imams when all is said and done. This plays in to the typical naivete of the left.
What history has shown us is that Egypt will become another Islamic State in the Middle East. An Islamic State that shares the goal of the elimination of the state of Israel. An Islamic State that just happens to border Israel.
The potential for the next catastrophic World War is now upon our doorstep, with millions of lives hanging in the balance. And to think that it can all be traced back to a living room in Chicago...
