The events of yesterday in Charleston and Ames have left Republican voters with a choice between four candidates--Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, and Mitt Romney (alphabetical order). While some might leave Ron Paul off this list, his strong 2nd place finish in Ames, as well as his ranking in the polls, means that he gets to soldier on through the first round of primary states. Tim Pawlenty has read the hand-writing and done the honorable thing--announced his withdrawal. It's time for Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, Jon Huntsman, and Newt Gingrich to do the same. Theircampaigns are now marginalized. They will have difficulty raising money, and no one should put them on television, including Fox News. The real candidates have emerged. Let the real campaign begin.
