We're sitting around on a Sunday night knowing our country is under attack, and that an attack is imminent.
But we're used to living like that, it shouldn't be that way, but it is. And we deal with it.
So we're watching TV, messing around on the internet: suddenly an alert is sounded;
The sirens sound, everybody scrambles to their guns, searchlights come on and begin to sweep the sky...
Okay, not exactly. People downloaded the .pdf file and began searching through the recently released file looking for anything that may spell doom.
Messages are passed back and forth at rapid fire and repeated across the internet: until we came across this;
Michael O’Brien of The Hill points out that “the bill is a procedural step, it DOES NOT make the substantive changes yet to the Senate’s bill.” These recommendations were first proposed in October by the House Ways and Means and Education and Labor Committees (so the public option is still in here).
Philip Klein reminds us that GOP Rep. Paul Ryan warned last week of the Dems’ strategy ramming this “shell” HC Bill through committee tomorrow. The budget committee approves the shell, sends it to the rules committee, then strips out the language and stuffs the actual reconciliation changes into the burrito, Klein explains. Klein lays it all out here.
As Michelle points out via Phillip Klein, Rep. Paul Ryan told us last week this is the way it would go down;[my emphasis]
Shortly before midnight on Sunday, Democrats released a 2,309 page health care bill that will start the process of reconciliation -- but don't let that fool you, it's not the actual reconciliation bill with all the changes you've been reading about. Instead, as Rep. Paul Ryan, the ranking Republican member on the Budget Committee, explained to me last week, this is just the "shell" bill -- the vehicle that Democrats need to get moving on health care. Once the bill gets approved (likely Monday), Democrats will send this phantom bill over to the Rules Committee, where it will be stripped, and then they'll insert in all of the actual changes that they've negotiated.
Okay, so this is America under assault. Kind of like after 9/11, only...different.
Different in that these are supposedly American citizens, representatives of the people, doing this to us.
Payback will be forthcoming[I was going to say something else in italics but, well, you know].
At the polls, just in case any trolls have overly active imaginations.
