The Watercooler ~ Solution to Eradicating Soft Porn Ads

Thanks to a savvy RedState reader

I had to write a follow-up diary to the original one I wrote a couple days ago wherein I blew a gasket over what I described as “soft porn ads” that pop up at the bottom of each diary.

In the traditional fashion known as, “the squeaky wheel gets the oil,” I was very pleased to receive this nice response in the comment section from Erick himself:

I appreciate your comment very much and fully agree. I have flagged this a couple of times for the office. The ads have become even more egregious. I’m glad you wrote this diary. I have sent it along to HQ to show them it is not just me.

Then if that was not enough, a kind reader known as “eltuba” gave me some advice that settled the problem for me and — in the event that Erick gets no satisfaction from lodging his complaints to HQ — I wanted to pass it along.

It seems Firefox, the browser I use, has an add-on feature called, “Ad-block plus” that blocks ads. For those of you who use Firefox, just click on “tools” in the tool bar at the top of the page and you will see an option for “add-ons.” Click on it, type in “ad-block plus” in the search bar, and the feature to block ads is easy to set up.

Not sure if other browsers offer the same feature. Maybe other readers could let us know about that.

In any event, I am a very happy camper now because I don’t have to deal with any more in-your-face soft porn ads.

The Watercooler is always an open thread.
