For those of us who take our walk with the Lord seriously — striving to be a loyal disciple of Jesus, it doesn’t take long to realize that gratefulness and thanksgiving are constant themes in scripture admonishing us along these lines:
Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:20
Giving thanks always for all things? Does that include being thankful for Barack Obama and radical liberals? What about all of the culture warriors who are determined to destroy every vestige of godliness and holiness from the land? Do we give thanks for them, too?
No, we don’t thank the Lord for them but we thank the Lord in the midst of them. Knowing that He still reigns and no matter what, we can always trust that He is in still in control and one day all evil will be destroyed forever in eternity.
In the meantime, sometimes our membership at RedState can turn us into finger-pointing critics and faultfinders with seemingly little time to thank God. And this is a mistake.
Today is a day for all of us to pause and think of all the many things for which we have to be grateful. From the dog, to family, friends, good food and yes, America. Warts and all.
Feel free to list the things you are thankful for on this Thanksgiving Open Thread. Even if you must confess the negative to get to the positive. And thank God for them.
