2010 Sen/Gov News: OH, FL, GA

OH:

Former Cincinnati GOP Rep. Rob Portman is making it official. He IS interested in seeking the U.S. Senate seat that will be vacated by George Voinovich’s retirement. And he plans to tell the whole state about it in the next few days.

Portman still has $1.5 million in funds remaining from his now defunct House campaign, and that will serve as a starting point for his campaign warchest.

FL

Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-FL) is expected to announce this morning that he is running for retiring Sen. Mel Martinez’s (R-FL) seat, making him the first Democrat in the race.

GA

Georgia’s Secretary of State Handel said Sunday she wants to replace Gov. Sonny Perdue when his second term expires in 2010.

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and state Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine are also running and have already begun assembling sizable campaign war chests with some 18 months to go until a primary.

Rep. Meek announced he's running......

………and when he starts running, I hope he keeps running……… right out of Florida and gets lost in the woods of anywhere but here.

He seems like a nice guy, but I don’t want him anywhere near a real position of power for my state.

Then again, Alcee Hastings is my Representative, so Kendrick Meek may be a better…………….. nah, who am I kiddin’.

I’m gettin’ involved to the point of whatever needs to be done to get an HONEST AMERICAN in that Senate seat. Forget the “R”,….. I want someone who knows EXACTLY why we’re here as a country.

I don’t care who it is either…. just be a real AMERICAN with honesty, passion and values.

Of course you can have my guns……. Bullets first.
I didn’t say rounds, shells or magazines…… I said bullets first.

Kenny, we need Operation Chaos at the Senate level

If the GOP can settle on a nominee by consensus (Rubio?), voting for Meek in the Democratic primary makes sense. He’s far to the left, and can be beat if he’s the nominee.

Operation chaos applied to senate and governor races may provide some opportunities to improve Republican chances.

By the way, the same should be done in Ohio now that Portman is the consensus nominee.

Dontcha worry, I’m a-watchin’.

Thing is, I work during the day with no access to a kompootah, so I may not be the first to pop anything up.

Greg_In_Fla, Dave_In_Fla…… y’all gotta have our backs on this one, o-tay, ‘panky ?

Here’s who I want to see run… does this person exist ?

I don’t want a Republican. Seriously.

I want an American.

Don’t care if this person is male, female, Black, Hispanic, White, Asian,or purple with green polka-dots prancing around singing ‘I love you, you love me’.

I will vote FOR someone who is conservative, personable, can reach to all people in our state and explain to them in English what we stand for and why, not what we stand against - with the why of both being easy…. liberty and freedom for everyone.

I’d also like our candidate to make da** sure he/she understands who the boss is…… the boss is us.

Just always be who you are and always fight for what you believe on our state’s behalf.

The last thing I want to deal with is having the choice between a weak candidate on our side and someone on the left with whom I vehemently disagree on just about everything.

The key is going to be: Can we vote FOR someone.

The DC paper The Hill had an article today how DC Republicans are pushing Gov Crist to run for Senate and he is not ruling it out yet.
