Let’s Bring down Murtha!

this should be a sticky, something we can all do together, but it won't :(

Why don’t we as a community focus on an effort to fund Bill Russell’s campaign against the Marine hating, redneck hating, moonbat extraodinaire Jack Murtha? The nutroots are always raising money to defeat our friends, I think it is about time we do likewise. It is easy to talk, but we are preaching to the converted here. I have been a part of 2A groups that have made positive changes in less than 24 hours simply because they stood together and DID SOMETHING!

I have already explained that Russell is an Iraq War Vet and is a conservative Republican. We all know that Murtha gave aide and comfort to our enemies by calling our Marines cold blooded murderers. He also called his own constituentcy racist rednecks. Yet still, particularly with possible voter fraud, this life long Congresman will be re-elected if we as a group do not act. The loss of Murtha would be a dagger in the heart of the left wing nutroots. Need I say more?

btw. I am not involved in the Russell campaign and do not live in PA. We have a shot at taking down the worst of the worst, is that not worth a few clams?

      …put words to how I feel about Rep. Murtha. I have thought about everything I should say for about 10 minutes now. I guess I’ll summarize by saying I hope the man never has the chance to do any more harm.

      My time as an active Marine will end soon.

      I will pray for Russell.

      they are committing MONEY to this race in the final push as they see it is indeed competitive….I personally do not know how to get a money bomb going around the net and if any of you do PLEASE do so!

      To get rid of Murtha would be the ultimate HIGH of this election season….I already expect a McCain/Palin win BUT this would be huge!!!

      Come on people this is for our United States Military fight for them like they fight for you!

      Spread these videos and post them everywhere. Think of it like this, with 10,000 committed people posting these in 10 places each day over 10 days, that is 1,000,000 postings.

      If 10 people see each posting that is 10,000,000 views. If only 1 in 10 send it to 10 people that is 20,000,000 views.

      You are talking enough impact to change an election! Let’s do that!

    A knife-wielding man robbed a McCain-Palin campaign volunteer and etched a ?B? into her face after he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the woman?s car, Pittsburgh police said.
    Ashley Todd, 20, of College Station, Texas, was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street in Bloomfield just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her, put a knife to her throat and demanded $60, police said.
    Todd handed the man $60 she had in her pocket and stepped away from him, investigators said. The man then noticed the bumper sticker on the woman’s car, which was parked in front of the ATM. The man became very angry, made comments to Todd about John McCain and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground, police said.

    “He continued to kick and punch her repeatedly and said he would teach her a lesson for supporting John McCain,” said police Chief Nate Harper.
    The man then carved the “B” into Todd’s right cheek. Todd, who isn’t familiar with the area, drove to a friend’s house nearby and told her friend she wasn’t sure of the exact location where the robbery took place but remembered a green sign above the ATM. The friend called police and the officer met them on Cypress Street in Bloomfield, police said.
    Todd’s friend offered to drive her back in the direction she came from to look at ATMs until she found the right one, police said. A police officer followed until Todd pointed out a Citizens Bank ATM at Liberty and Pearl, police said.
    She declined medical treatment at the scene and said she would go to a hospital today.
    Todd declined to comment.
    “She is a volunteer for the McCain-Palin campaign,” said campaign spokesman Peter Feldman. “Sen. McCain has reached out to her via telephone and has spoken to her and her family,? as has McCain?s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Feldman said. ?Out of respect for her privacy we’re not going to comment further.”
    Democrat Barack Obama’s campaign released a statement saying: ?Our thoughts and prayers are with the young woman for her to make a speedy recovery, and we hope that the person who perpetrated this crime is swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.”
    Police described the suspect as black, about 6-foot-4, and said he was wearing dark-colored jeans and a black undershirt.

        I game what I could afford as well. It does not take much to make a difference at the Congressinal level. It may be Murtha has a war chest from Hollyweird or something, but what ever we give can let the truth come out regardless of what Murtha does.

            You and I think alike. If I got one person to help defeat Murtha, it was worth it. I do think we could do a lot better than one though. Whey don’t they do a “Red Hot” diary on this issue?

            I thank all that reccomended the diary, I was really hoping to get it up where people could see it, go to Russell’s site, and contribute their $25 etc.

            It was my fault for writing it so late at night, but those are my hours lately. I know I am not an excellent writer, but I don’t want the diary recco’ed, I want the CAUSE recco’ed and I want our side to fight back!

            In fact, anyone who recco’s this diary can make fun of all my typos and over use of the passive voice :)

            Let’s take Murtha down!

    Murtha does appear to have shot himself in the foot this time. He’s always been extraodinarily corrupt, and his original coming out against the war struck me as oppurtunism by a guy who saw his chance to jump into the national leadership. Though I wouldn’t say he is anti-marine since he was a voluntary member of the armed forces for many years, serving in Vietnam, was a colonel, he has a very extensive resume, including two purple hearts and a Bronze medel.

    The only thing is that this sounds just like 2006, when Diana Irey was touted as someone who would beat Murtha only to lose 61-39 and I can’t see how things have changed that significantly since then.

      I know they are liberal, and like to zig and zag. Certainly they will go after Republicans again and often. But they just destroyed Murtha and Biden on the famous opening political skit.

        that there is no such thing as an EX-marine.

        It is also my understanding that the Marines are willing to make an exception in the case of Jack Murtha.

          we should all agree with you and fold up the tent and put our heads in the sand. First of all, Murtha was a Captain in his one Vietnam tour, he did not get the Bronze Medal, he received the Bronze Star.

          Hinz is right, as a Marine brat and former Army infantryman, I know Murtha as a Former Marine. But I also know he convicted 8 Marines of cold blooded murder just to score political points. Seven of the eight indicted Marines have been exonerated, the eigth has yet to be tried. Murtha did not only convict these men without trial, he said if they got away with it, other Marines would commit cold blooded murder too.

          Now tell me again how he is not anti-Marine? Lee Harvey Oswald was also a Marine. Randy Duke Cunningham, a former Navy pilot and congressman is rotting in jail now. He was one of only two aces in Vietnam the other was his Radar Intercept Officer. He was awarded two Silver Stars, 15 Air Medals, and the Purple Heart. Yet when he went bad, many years later, he was judged as any citizen.

          Murtha would not be welcome in ANY Marine Officer’s club. If he went there, he would probably be shown the door with little talk. He served his country 30 years ago, and now he is a shell of himself, attacking his former comrades, flailing about, with only hatred for many and the desire for camera time.

    that was a great effort on your part. I was not here, and you did more than help, thanks a lot. YOu can’t force people to agree with you, follow you, or recommend your diary. I know I have never asked for a reco, other than in this case.

    I would gladly reco a diary from GC, David, or any of those that are always on the top list if they penned a similar diary. We just HAVE to do this thing, I know we can do something together.

    Still more room to grow, but Russell is in an excellent position in a district that is 2 to 1 Democratic. We(The GOP) will win that district.

    look at this thread and fix Jaded’s mistaken unrecommend. Jaded did a lot of work to help us defeat Murtha by keeping this diary in the limelight. I don’t know the policy here (i am no insider as you know), but at Daily Krud one unrecommend cancels three recommends.

    Also, I encourage Jaded to email you guys, but if you just read the thread you will see there was an accidental unrecommendation. Please fix this sirs.

    we all face our own financial issues. I will admit right here the Russell donation was the only one I have made yet. I am an NRA member so in a way that is a donation too.

    I still am thinking about giving locally and to McCain (yes you still can technically to offset campaign costs and free up money for advertising).

    There was just something about Murtha, that made me send the money to Russell. Again, you can even give $10. It made me happy, I want this guy to go down!

    Murtha and Kerry are an embarassasment to the United States Military. Those that elect them are no better.

    Pray our country will stand united and defeat those who smear others while chastising those who tell the truth about them.

    and it feels great to see this diary tonite. I credit MM with getting me on Russell’s bandwagon in August. She had a Russell article just yesterday. Back the Russell Brigade! Put him on the slatecard if that’s possible. His district voted big for Swann for governor, so how are they racist rednecks?

    I put together a list of the 5 most competitive House seats that are in D hands that should, by past Presidential voting patterns be in R hands and then sent them out to my address list of politically active friends (about 45 of them). The attached note said “You can either give these people your money now, or give it to Barack later”

    This race was one of the ones on the list and I sent $100 myself. This kind of grassroots effort is absolutely necessary if we’re going to offset the MSM blatant bias. Send emails like this to your politically active friends.

    But don’t stop there. We (myself included until about 3 weeks ago) have a tendency to send all these great ads and pieces to the ‘choir’ in our address books. Put together a list of those ‘undecided’ types in your address books and send the YouTube ads and blurbs exposing Obama for who he is to that list. They’re the ones that need people who they know and trust to provide them with info. Make sure we’re getting outside the echo chamber!

    I don’t know how that worked or why it worked that way BUT I think even without me WE have done a great job at getting the word out and I got an email from the Russell campaign yesterday personally thanking me for my donation….NO standard reply email…very nice!

    you are right, we need to be creative and proactive, the MSM will not just tell the truth, we have to do it. again great job, I am very pleased we are doing this, I think it has got to help.

    My only other wish is more conservative, 2A, military, patriotic etc blogs would do the same. Maybe they are, I am just hoping we pull out all the stops and race THROUGH the finish line.

    Seriously though, thank you for your comment. I reallly think we as a community are making a difference here. The response has been great because that is all I wanted, a response to defeat this guy.

    My one concern is the difficulty signing on during prime time hours. It is probably too late to increase our bandwidth or whatever, but we do need everyone that wants to get on, to get on.

    totally agree with everything you said about Okinawa Jack. However, you missed another ace from the Viet Nam war, Gen. Steve Ritchie USAF(ret). He and Cunningham were the only pilot aces, the other 3 were RIO’s, or WSO’s, as they were known in the USAF.
