Release more memos per Dick Cheney’s request? [Currently under review. - ML]

There’s a diary over at Daily Kos called “Dick Cheney is right”, authored by someone called The Termite.

It’s about what Dick Cheney said on Hannity tonight.

CHENEY:

“One of the things that I find a little bit disturbing about this recent disclosure is they put out the legal memos, the memos that the CIA got from the Office of Legal Counsel, but they didn’t put out the memos that showed the success of the effort. And there are reports that show specifically what we gained as a result of this activity. They have not been declassified.”

“I formally asked that they be declassified now. I haven’t announced this up until now, I haven’t talked about it, but I know specifically of reports that I read, that I saw that lay out what we learned through the interrogation process and what the consequences were for the country.”

Not news here of course, there’s a front page story by Moe Lane.

There’s an interesting poll over at Daily Kos. My intention was to come here and put up a similar poll, but I guess you don’t do polls here. You can see the results from the poll done over there below. 94% of Kossacks agree with Dick Cheney. They say that Obama should declassify the memos in question, per Dick Cheney’s request.

I’m very curious to know if there would be a similar result to such a poll here, the blog on the opposite side of the spectrum. Since there isn’t a poll function here, I would like to ask everyone to post “release” or “don’t release” in the comment header, and I will keep a tally.

I am guessing that many here will agree with the former Vice President.

Here’s the poll:

Should the memos in question be declassified?

94% 1601 votes
2% 28 votes
4% 72 votes

President-elect Obama to Republicans:

From his speech tonight:

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.

Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House - a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity.

Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, “We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection.” *
And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn - I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, *
and I will be your President too

Ain’t no party like an AIG party (w/video).

AIG executives thank you for financing their trip to such a beautiful resort :)

They want you to know that your money paid for a wonderful retreat!! They have been exhausted from their role in deflating your 401k for their own enrichment - boy did they need this luxurious getaway. You (and your children and grandchildren) are so generous to pay for it!
