Watch out for the Senate proposal!

Congress can’t seem to do anything without some form of a “Punitive” mindset. If they can not create a public option that pays for itself, than they should not create one. Making Insurance companies pay for this will only increase the cost of insurance.

Again, the emphasis is on what best suits the cost failure within the government programs, without much regard to ordinary citizens.  Why shouldn’t all Congressmen and Senators take a 30 to 50% pay cut and cut down on their benefits.  Their money and benefit savings could go directly into the public option plan! It’s time for them to cough up.

Tax payers already pay for those who aren’t insured through various forms. There is a tax base currently in use for this very thing.  What is now being devised is an attempt of the Government to find ways to free up money or tax dollars (that they collect) so they can use it for other things. Those tax dollars will not be returned to, or applied for, use in cutting medical costs. You will be lulled into footing the bill for another government program that requires Medical Insurance Companies to *cover* the expense of the uninsured. This will mean higher Insurance costs for the insured.

When the government talks about cutting costs, it is a reference to cutting their costs not yours.  The agenda is always to have you pay more in order to feed their gluttony.

Perhaps Nancy Pelosi could auction her $70,000 pearl necklace for the initial start up of the public option.

I got a note from my Sen. Nelson on a Senate Bill he is working on

And this all concerns me. He speaks of a “exchange”, which to me should simply be the free market. Why does government have to create an “exchange” in a free-market economy? Answer: because the government’s tentacles prevent a free market from existing. Here is an excerpt of the email from Neson that described the bill he is working on:

President Obama gave some clearer answers in his speech to Congress last week about his views on reform. I found it interesting that what the president described is pretty close to the bill I’m helping prepare as a member of the Senate Finance Committee. I want to tell you basically what this bill does.

In essence, it will let folks happy with their insurance keep it, including seniors on Medicare and veterans. It also will create a marketplace–exchanges–where those without coverage, or those who are unhappy with what they have, can get coverage at an affordable price.

The bill will hold insurers’ feet to the fire by requiring them to cover everyone and preventing them from dropping individuals who get sick. Additionally, it will contain several measures aimed at reducing overall medical and prescription drug costs and eliminating waste and fraud in the system.

I still intend to offer several amendments aimed at further improving the legislation. One of my amendments would require drugmakers to provide rebates to Medicare, just like they do to Medicaid. This would save Medicare a ton of money. Further, by eliminating the tax break drugmakers get for TV and other advertising, we would gain another $37 billion over the coming years to help pay for health care reforms.

The Senate Finance Committee will begin considering this bill as early as this week. Meantime, please know that I value your continued input.

Support Marco Rubio for US Senate.

Thanks,
