DEFEAT IS NOT AN OPTION–A COMMON MANS PERSPECTIVE

A lightening strike of perfect confluences led to the birth of the greatest nation the world has ever known.  A moment where like minded men and women prepared themselves to sacrifice all they had in a noble revolution against tyranny.

They and many of their predecessors were in this new land in an attempt to disengage themselves from a system low in opportunity and high in dictatorship.  They left a rigidly structured society where an amazing small number of ruling class, egocentric, mega wealthy autocrats controlled all social and legislative activities to the point that generational progress and opportunity for those in the under class was virtually impossible.  The sole motivation for those so powerful was the absolute maintenaince of that power by and through any means necessary.

Through the evolution of political process, the continued attachment to the crown of England became an abhorrent impossibility.  This new land and it’s seeming limitless potential for opportunity was in direct conflict with the mother countries ever increasing demand for the lion’s share of the new found wealth.  Perpetually escalating tax mandates and the resultant threat of enforcement grated on these early Americans already sensitive psyches.  Not that long before and still given purchase in the minds of these colonist was the history of the persecution foist upon the Irish in the mid seventeenth century by these English masters.  Oliver Cromwell’s terror march through Ireland resulted in untold numbers of lynchings of the innocent and many other types of slaughter without any form of recourse or justice to those so inflicted. This incursion by the British resulted in the death or exile of an estimated 15 to 25% of the Irish population of the time.  Once again an all powerful government, answerable to no one, gave itself the authority to murder without consequence.

I’d never thought about the psychic legacy of Cromwell in Ireland. But the great waves of Irish immigrants to America did not come until the 1870s and after. Were the earlier Anglo settlers really that much aware of what had happened in Ireland?

I’m not arguing; I’m just asking, because I’m really ignorant in this area, and don’t know. Do you have a source or a link to recommend for more information?

This is the first few paragraphs from my “book” which were first written about a year and a half ago. To be truthful I can not remember how I came up with that connection, after going through my sources. I was reading about Cromwell and was shocked at the brutality the English, under his leadership, used against the Irish. The events of the “Wars of the Three Kingdoms” is also the bases for the ongoing “war” betwen the Cathoics and the Protestents to this day.
It is my contention that our founders, most of which were well educated men, would be familiar with this history and as such would be motivated knowing the length to which the British government would go to in order to maintain their kingdom.
The gest of my “book” is about our founders wisdom in installing the type of government they did as opposed to the type of government socialism (communism) has shown to provide. I try to expose the lie of liberalism and those who preach it. It is meant to motivate true Americans in the need to defeat, absolutely, what I call the foriegn born philosophy of Marxism and to realize that we conservatives are not on the right but in fact are in the center. The center has been hijacked by the leftist in our country and must be taken back.
Read “A New History of Cromwell’s Irish Campaign” by Phillip McKever and/or “Cromwell in Ireland” by James Scott Wheeler.
I feel somewhat embarased that I can not at this time specifically site any other source in regards to my “contention” but I do stand behind it’s validity.
I appreciate your responce and interest.

It really is a very interesting topic, and I think it is timely subject to be reviewed as well.

I’d love to see you expand this diary and include both more information and more links. Please, consider it.

This is actually the first few paragraphs of my “book” which is meant to be a sort of a motivational “study” as to why our forefathers were correct in their wise creation of our type of government and our free market economy. I try to expose the lie of liberalism and those who participate in that lie.
While our system may not be perfect it has proven to be the best form of societal organization yet seen and along with the values our constitution provides has proven that our forefathers ideas were as wise now as they were when they created our country.
Big, centralized government is a danger to freedom and opportunity and those who support socialism (communism) must be defeated. American conservatism must regain the center of our political and economic structure, while leftist ideology must be discarded into the garbage from which it sprang.
Maybe I’ll do the next few paragraphs. I’d be interested in your reaction.
      Thanks

I am glad at least one person thinks so…Did you read the next few paragraghs.
Humbly, I do believe it would present a different perspective to the norm. Alas it seems impossible for it to be published, for as the title says I am just a common man.
      Thanks again though…

I did find some support for my contention regarding Cromwell…George Washington—Foundation of Presidential Leadership and Character–
