Brian Faughnan of RedState takes MSNBC to Liz Cheney school

Don't allow the media its version of the facts

In case you missed it, Erick Erickson is not the only RedState TV rock star. Actually we have numerous RedState editors (and regulars) who regularly appear on TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, internet radio, you name it. Some are permanent employees or staff columnists. Our own Brian Faughnan appears regularly on MSNBC as the conservative counterbalance to the default leftist spin.

See from last Thursday and watch how it’s done…..
.

David Shuster, low-rent MSNBC Olbermann-wannabe, is hosting. He’s made his name, such as it is, making a spectacle of himself with such things as his unrelenting use of the “teabagger” imagery and admonishing Hillary for “pimping out” Chelsea on the campaign.

Here he is commenting on what he calls a Republican misinformation campaign, and he recites an NBC poll which asks if certain things are “likely to happen under proposed health plan”, with these results:

  • Cover illegal immigrants — 55%
  • Lead to govt takeover — 54%
  • Tax-funded abortions — 50%
  • Govt death panels — 45%

He then opines that these things are not specific provisions of the bill, therefore regular Americans are stupid. Then he asks RedState’s Brian Faughnan to go along with his fantasy. But clearly Brian’s been attending the *Liz Cheney School of PWNing Biased Reporters, and points out that “likely to happen” does not equal “in the current versions of the bill”.

In later portions of the segment, Shuster misrepresents Obama’s statements and a statement by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, then asks Faughnan to comment. Brian calmly and politely sets the record straight, then comments appropriately.

We got good game here at RedState. Look for Brian often on MSNBC.

* In the Liz Cheney School of PWNing Biased Reporters, it’s not so much the jamming their face through a plate glass window kind of PWNage. It’s more of the leaving them curled up in a fetal position, wimpering ‘make the mean man stop talking’ sort.

David Shuster

ObamaNo Tuesday, August 25th at 3:57PM EDT (link)

David Shuster interrupted Brian every time he began to make a point; not so much the Daily Beast contributor. Nearly every time David Shuster posts on Twitter, it is something against Sarah Palin and now Michele Bachmann. So predictable.

Keep up the good work Brian and the rest of RedState. The facts are on your side.

More than that-

johnCV Tuesday, August 25th at 4:06PM EDT (link)

shuster is likely the most obnoxious crapweasel ever to appear on the small screnn. His tone drips poison as he refers to the cretins viewers of Fox and fumbles about when his carefully constrcueted narrative is gored by Brian.

BTW, did anyone notice that 0bama said none of the proposals coming from the WH covered illegals? A clever rhetorical style of lying that’s used in all of the up and coming 3rd world dictatorships.

Brian schooled Sheister.

azaeroprof Tuesday, August 25th at 4:26PM EDT (link)

Brian was awesome as usual.

Shuster passes himself off as a “news reporter”, not a commentator. Therein lies the difference with Fox. Aside from Hannity, O’Reilly, and Huckabee, the FoxNews NEWSPEOPLE give the news straight-up. Yes, in the primetime hours, Fox slants right, but their news shows are just that…news. MSNBC cannot say the same thing, and that’s why nobody watches them or cares about them.

That’s the only downside in Brian’s awesome appearances. Not enough people are getting to see HIM!

Oh No, Shep Smith Doesn't!

Shep Smith repeats DNC talking-points on FNC often.

I can’t stand the blow-dried moron, and can’t understand why FNC hasn’t unloaded him yet - he does nothing but make the network look bad.

Y'all are way too kind

Brian Faughnan Tuesday, August 25th at 4:15PM EDT (link)

The only reason I’ve been invited to make appearances like this one is because I’m associated with a great site and a great community. I hope that I’m doing a fair job of representing our arguments in front of an unfriendly audience.

And when the facts are on your side, the only trick is making sure you get a word in edgewise.

Your humility is appreciated, Brian

I would pay HUGE money to see Brian take out Shuster. And while we’re at it, let’s put Jeff Emmanuel and Keith Olbermann in a cage together for 5 minutes (actually, it would only take Jeff about 8 seconds to have Olbermann simpering like an abused puppy!).

I think it only takes 5 seconds for a blood/oxygen choke to be effective...

Thanks for not letting Shuster get away with presenting the poll results as being answers to a question that was not asked. He put the actual question up with the results and then acted as if those polled were answering a totally different question.

“Is it likely to happen?” is a far cry from “Is it in the bill?” Shuster may not be smart enough to recognize the difference, but viewers are.

His attempt to portray FOX News viewers as less intelligent than MSNBC and CNN viewers proves a totally different point that the one he was attempting to make. FOX News viewers tend to be more conservative, while MSNBC and CNN viewers tend to be more liberal. It should not have been a surprise to him that conservative viewers distrust a liberal healthcare plan more than liberal viewers. What should surprise him is that 30-40% of liberal viewers also think these negative aspects healthcare may end up in the final plan.

All viewers are noce necessarily

illinoisconservative Tuesday, August 25th at 5:26PM EDT (link)

smart enough to recognize the difference. Especially at MSNBC!

I am very glad Brian pointed that out.

It appears Fox viewers are the smartest ones, however. They know full well that immediately after health care reform passes, Obama will pass amnesty for illegal immigrants. Then they will be fully covered under “universal health care”.

That reminds me

Richard Mullins Tuesday, August 25th at 6:33PM EDT (link)

Mr Shuster used to work at FNC up until 2001. I think he’s just been showing his true colors. As for the majority of clear thinking people(not the average MSNBC or CNN viewer) thinking that the mention items are there means something. Besides, if Fraud is big now, what until it’s single payer(FBI task would have to be 10 times as large).

Polls and the political Left...

towerclimber Wednesday, August 26th at 5:40AM EDT (link)

Did you get that little part where he was speaking about the polls and said “fox news viewers believed this and the and the rest of us believed this”?

Nice work Mr. Faughnan.
What the left doesn’t want to see is that they are in fact, with the passing of this legislation, preparing the way for all of the things they say are “not in these bills”.
Politicians are liars. Even those we regard as the best of politicians lie. Reagan lied to us about the illegal immigrant issue, so there’s no way I’m going to trust them with things that they have no business in.
they already get into my wallet. if they invade my life any farther, I’d willingly incite insurrection!

Hey, just one question Brian; how long did it take to delouse?

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. GregInFla Tuesday, August 25th at 5:57PM EDT (link)

Brian, I so wanted to hear you say: “I guess the Fox News viewers are more informed. Good thing there are much more of them than of the other networks.”

A common comment is that the government already provides health insurance, via (bankrupt) Medicare. A good retort could be: How many private health insurers offer complete packages to insure senior citizens health? How many seniors do not take medicare but instead find better policies in the private market?

And when the true answer of “very few if any” is given, you can just pause and let the victim realize the consequences of the “public option”.

The “Cash for Clunkers Bill” did not say in it that people could not spend that same money they spent on the car for purchasing other items, but the drop in consumer spending on items other than cars was a natural consequence of purchasing cars. I also heard that personal debt rose last month. Gee, go figure.

Liberals are always blind and never think beyond stage one. They really need to start reading Thomas Sowell.
