Independence Day 2010 – November 2

Do we love liberty enough to keep it? I think we do.

A free people will not give up its freedom. Never has it been more evident than now that America is not Europe. We are indeed the world’s last best hope. And know this: America is spectacularly, magnetically, incurably, incandescent Exceptional. In spite of what the Boy President™ says, we ARE exceptional. And also in spite of what he says, nobody else can lay claim to the term.

We are it. There is no other. We are Exceptionalist America. We are the shining light of freedom that shows all the people of the world that they can be free as well.

That is one bold statement, given the times, and given the state the nation has been put in by 70 years of corrosive government social engineering, 50 years of judicial activism, and 18 years of unrelenting government intrusion, capped off by 18 months of the most fearsome assault on our personal freedoms and on our free market economic system anyone could have imagined.

But in the last 18 months, we’ve also found the answer to a question that has been dogging freedom-loving patriots for at least a generation, and perhaps for 70 years. We now know that in America, if you turn the heat up a little at a time, the frog will not boil. When the frog has had enough heat, he’ll jump out.

As encroachments have been made on our freedom, conservatives in a minority have been objecting loudly for decades. But with leftist Democrats working toward the end game, all of America has awoken. She has said, resolutely and finally:

No.

So Robert Redford blames Cheney for the oil spill – and everything else

Excessive use of tan-in-a-can can cause it to leak through your scalp into your brain

Wow. Just wow.

Wrinkle-boy sat down with Anderson Cooper on CNN a couple of days ago. The ratings situation has gotten that desperate over at the Commie News Network, I guess. Redford is clearly an expert on oil spills because…… well, because……oh yeah, because he acted in some movies that did rather well. Like Out of Africa and Electric Horseman.

Apparently Captain Underpants has got a SERIOUS crush on Dick Cheney. [Trust me, I know how brutal these celebrity romances can be. Salma Hayek and I are barely on speaking terms anymore.] Anyway, excerpts from Redford’s love-mad rambling:

Boehner and Cantor, unworthy to lead, should resign now

Time to man up and resign, boys. You are not made of the right stuff.

[UPDATE: apparently I've not been clear on one point - I am demanding that these 2 resign their leadership positions, not resign as congressmen]

You unspeakably cowardly moral midgets.

We will have leaders who shout “Give me liberty or give me death”, not obsequious weasels who snarl at more courageous men, “Don’t make the mean man mad.”

The times test a man, and fortunate is the man who finds a battle that tests his limits. Still more fortunate is the man who is proven worthy by that battle. Such men were Nathan Hale, George Washington, John Paul Jones, and the men who stormed Normandy.

In a couple of short years, the Left has wrought on America, on freedom, such damage it is scarcely comprehensible, the culmination of 4 generations of chipping away at it. What they are planning and attempting in the next 6 months is an even further destruction of the most grand, noble, and free nation the world has ever seen.

This is a time for great men and women to be tested to their limits. It is a time that will forge this century’s George Washington, Patrick Henry, George Patton, William Still, and Clara Barton. Men and women with the bark on. It is an epic moment, at our nation’s greatest point of peril since 1861. Against this backdrop, you, John and Eric (and let’s throw Mitch in here too) have been placed in history.

And you have failed utterly to lead.

Over the last 18 months, sometimes the leadership of the House and Senate has done us proud, yet at some of the most crucial times, you have failed miserably and embarrassingly. When push came to shove, you’ve shown yourselves untrue and unfaithful to the plain, basic tenets of conservatism. And this, the back-of-the bus fisking of Congressman Joe Barton (my congressman, by the way), a man who stood up and told the truth for the world to hear, is the final insult.

You, for the sake of……I don’t even know what, really…… tossed Barton under the bus, threatened to remove him as ranking member of the Energy & Commerce committee, because he openly declared the Obama shakedown of BP to be……. a shakedown.

Now hear this, John Boehner and Eric Cantor. I am dead to you.

Nothing you ever say again will penetrate to me. I do not hear you.

When it came time to stand up and fight, you did not. You are unworthy and unwilling, and we — the conservative revolution, the Constitution lovers, the ones here in the trenches who have fought with our spare minutes, hours, and dollars, tooth and nail, while you have compromised, dithered, negotiated, and moderated — will not be led by such as you.

Resign now.

.
Resign now, so that other, more worthy men and women, can lead America in the fight to save our republic.

That is all.

PS — Poltroons.
PPS — Mike Pence, I see that your name is attached to this malodorous deed. You better tell us different, and I mean today.
PPPS — Jeff Miller, how about a nice heaping bowl of how about you switch parties, you imbecile, because you sqeal like a Democrat.

Skip the speech – I’ve got the transcript

Save yourself 60 minutes of torture

Guys, I’m going to be doing something else during the speech, something vastly more important than watching the Ditherer-in-Chief. I haven’t decided exactly what, yet. I’m still deciding between working in the yard, working in the garage, or finally trying out BattleField – Bad Company 2 on X360. But you know, I got connections. Me and TOTUS, we got a history. So it so happens I called in a favor or two, and got the transcript. It’s the next-to-last draft, so certain things that are bracketed with [] still had to be filled in with certain details. But otherwise, it should be exactly what you hear tonight.

So, without any more build-up, here she is. No need to thank me, it’s a privilege to serve you.

EPU’s Captain Obviousisms, Edition 1: Government Business, Not Government Business

I applaud the many brilliant minds that grace America. Good for you for thinking deep thoughts and expounding on complexities and nuances of this, that and the other. I think that is grand. But I also think that most of the truths that can guide us aright are right out there in the open.

I believe they are stunningly, astoundingly obvious. I bring them up because your average Democrat does not get them, and far too many Americans do not get them either [yes, I just said what you think I said, on purpose]. So without further fanfare:

EPU’s Captain Obviousisms, Edition 1

Government Business, Not Government Business

  • Secure the border — government business.
  • Mandate how much salt or fat is in my food — NOT government business.

Benishek (MI1-Teaparty) forces Jason Allen (MI1-SEIU) to abandon forced unionization scheme

That, my friend, is the sound of inevitability

The events of the last 17 months need no rehashing here. What is noteworthy is the tremendous backlash in response to the Left’s machinations. America is now focused. They want an end to intrusive, bloated, nanny government, and an end to an activist judiciary. They want an America that proudly faces the world and says “We have been and remain the beacon of freedom and goodness for all mankind. We will stand against what is evil, and we apologize to nobody.”

Conservatives aren’t kidding around now. Marco Rubio chased Crist over to the other side, just like Toomey has done to Specter. New Jersey (New Jersey???) elected Chris Christie, and he’s taken a willow switch and taken it to the union and big government grizzlies. In the Republican primaries, we could name a hundred like them. In Michigan-1, that man is Dan Benishek, the down-to-earth surgeon running against the establishment, whose words have appeared here several times.

America is now looking for real conservatives to take America back from the Left. It’s finally cool to be a conservative candidate. We get some. But along with them, we get the fakers.

Which brings us to Republican candidate for MI-1 Jason Allen.

Enjoy that tasty karma pie, Los Suns?

America-hating 'Los Suns' go down in 6 to patriotic Kobe and sensible Jackson

Over at the I Hate My State Hotel, Steve Nash and Los Soles are checking the menu:

Karma for breakfast.
Karma for lunch.
Karma for dinner.

Karma-and-eggs, with a short karma stack on the side. Karma salad for the weight-conscious. Chili con karma. Chicken a la karma. Karma on wheat (since karma on white might offend their delicate racist sensitivities). Bundt karma with cinnamon swirls. Karma pudding. Karma pie.

And my personal favorite. Chicken fried karma.

This Thursday, I can go back to hating the Lakers, as I have done my whole life. But today I say, with not a single bit of regret, remorse, or irony:

THANK YOU LAKERS!!!!!

They erased the Suns from the playoffs, thereby making right a tremendous injustice committed by the Suns owner

Nathan Hale — how much do you love liberty?

We are about to find out

I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.

These words, or something very like them, were spoken by Nathan Hale on September 22, 1776, shortly before being hanged by the British for espionage shortly after the Battle of Long Island. Memorial Day is a good time to contemplate the heart and mind of a young patriot who faced death with courage and dignity, knowing that the cause he lived for was also worth dying for – that of freedom in a free country.

It’s a pity that Labor Day — America’s three-day weekend at the other end of summer — celebrates completely the opposite: bondage, theft, and organized crime in an oppression state where political will is enforced with violence and freedom of speech is just a memory. But that’s a topic for another day.

Except it’s not.

Meet David Westlake for Senate(R-WI): the cure for Russ Feingold

Some things are impossible -- until somebody does them

Do you want a United States Senator — your Senator — to have words like Honor and Duty be the first words out of his mouth when he speaks? Do you want him to know in his bones, that being a Senator is a sacred trust between him, the people he represents, and the history and legacy of the United States?

I know I do.

You have GOT to meet this man. Not only is he made out of the right stuff. He believes it is a matter of duty to retire three-term fat cat leftist powerhouse Russ Feingold. And he has a plan.

Meet David Westlake

I had the pleasure of speaking with Westlake for about 45 minutes the other night. He is a West Point graduate and served several years as a United States Army officer. He speaks of his 4 years at the Academy as having been haunted by the hallways there: by the great men who had walked those halls, and left their mark on history. He was determined to give no less than they had. He believed then and now that America’s taxpayers had not sent him to West Point merely for the years of military service he might provide. His whole lifetime was owed in service to his country.

Duty. Honor. Giving. A debt of service. John Adams, George Washington, and James Madison talked like that. So did Nathan Hale. Ditto Chesty Puller, Nimitz, and Patton. The Arlen Specters of the world cynically say “that is my Senate seat”. Fake military heroes like Rich Blumenthal demand respect even after their lies are exposed. Feingold runs around crowing about what great things he’s done for Wisconsin by playing an instrumental role getting the health care takeover shoved down America’s throat (yeah….uh…..thanks, Russ).

David Westlake says that he owes America and Wisconsin his life, his time, and his future.

I like that better.

To Calderon – get off my lawn

Soon enough we’ll deal with that mendacious little Boy President that invited you to come to America and badmouth the country. But you did it, and today this is for you:

Hey bato, get off my lawn.

[And you should go with definition 1]

I won’t lecture you about what gall, what arrogance it takes to come slam Arizona, when we know exactly what your own immigration laws are.

See, we already knew what a sniveling, corrupt, two-faced scumbag you are. Frankly, it’s not even surprising to hear you speak lies, distortions, and insults about our country and our laws. Penis envy is a pretty predictable thing, when it comes down to it.

Meanwhile, get lost.

You are not welcome in America, by Americans. Just by the Commies who won’t be running things much longer. You see, about 1/3 of those jerks that applauded you on our House floor, they won’t be working there next January. And in another two years after that, more of them will be gone, as will be the Boy President who invited you to do his dirty work here.

At that point, if you’re still running your little tin-pot personal enrichment program south of us, we’ll deal with you more properly. Starting with a fence, which by that time we might have decided to turn into a concrete barrier with razor wire and machine gun towers. Oh, and underground listening equipment. And RPGs.

Savvy?

Senate Repubs, DO YOU HEAR US NOW?

Listen up, kids. This is our party now.

The disconnect between the Republican Party rulers and Republicans across the nation has been both deep and wide for a very long time. We (the people) have been quite acutely aware of it. The rulers? Not so much.

With Rand Paul’s mauling of the McConnell and NRSC-approved squish, America’s Tea Party movement offers a very large, very loud “Ahem” to the Senate Republicans. Actually, it was more like a smack across the mouth.

MI-1: State GOP reportedly asks union-loving Jason Allen to leave race

Rumors from Lansing -- Allen has been asked to step aside

[This falls into the solid rumor category. Not gold-plated, but attested to by a reliable person in a position to know this. In other words, a good bit more believable than anything printed by the New York Times that is not specifically a box score. YMMV.]

Tea Party conservative Dan Benishek is looking like the guy. A very well-placed birdie in the Michigan GOP has informed me that the state party has asked well-known union backer Jason Allen to drop out of the race, clearing the field for an expected Benishek victory in Michigan-1, a swing district mostly located on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula currently held by odious (and retiring) Democrat Bart Stupak.

This is particularly interesting since current State Senator Allen was said to have been encouraged to run in the first place by that same state party. MI-GOP is notoriously squishy and union-friendly, and no doubt Benishek was not their cup of tea, then or now. Allen is an experienced politician and well-financed. One supposes he would benefit from union money and ground game as well.

My birdie suggests that Allen does not seem inclined to quit the race.

Why would they ask him to drop out?

For the next four weeks, I am a Lakers fan

It's war, and there is no Geneva Convention

I hate the Lakers. I hate Phil Jackson, and before him, I hated Pat Riley. I hate Andrew Bynum and that schulb Pao Gasol. I hate former Lakers like the Shaq, Kareem, Magic, Kurt Rambis, Byron Scott, and James Worthy. I don’t actually hate AC Green though, long story. I even hate Jack Nicholson and the rest of those smarmy, spoiled fans. And by at least a mile, I hate Kobe the most. I hate Kobe with passion as deep and rich as chocolate cheesecake made with rum.

You see, I am a Dallas Mavericks man, and my deep and abiding malice for the Lakers is matched only by my loathing of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Boston Redsox, and the Zero-University Sooners.

But today, in this month of May, 2010, I stand with Jack Nicholson. It’s Laker Purple, baby.

Why is this, EPU?

Why this blasphemy?

Because I want them to beat the pants off those America-hating, left-wing apologist, busy-body, scum-sucking commie Suns or Spurs.

In 1948, the universities didn’t root against freedom

It\'s worth pointing out that Harding University still doesn\'t

One thing you can say for Bambi, the Democrats, and the Commie Press Corps; they’ve made “Old School” something America can be seriously fond of.

Meet Jason Allen – Unions’ favorite Republican, sent to rescue Stupak seat from conservative wave

Carpet-bagging union lackey is the nicest thing I can say about him.

We owe it to the people of Michigan to help them beat Jason Allen in the Republican primary. — Erick
———–

I love when my income, that I worked my butt off for, is confiscated by the state government without my knowledge or consent, and given to the SEIU. Don’t you?

Doesn’t everybody love to hand over their hard-earned cash to the Purple People Beaters?

Well, if you live in Michigan, and you are a self-employed provider of personal care services to elderly Medicaid recipients in their homes, Republican State Senator Jason Allen wants to put you in the SEIU and put some of your money in their pockets.

Still think Barack “just forgot” to honor the National Anthem?

True colors eventually show

Cross posted at The Minority Report

At the time this happened (January 20, 2008) quite a fuss was kicked up by we on the right who didn’t think much of this young, impudent little punk to begin with, since even a cursory check of his background and beliefs showed him to be a radical leftist Alinskyite with extremely shady associations. Many of us saw this as a subtle but deliberate dig against America and all she stands for.
bambi_dishonor
If you want to see the whole scene, grab a barf bag and check out the video.

OK, old news, I know. But the left and their media got all over our backs for “impugning Barack’s patriotism”. The bamster himself was “irked” He just “forgot”, or this whopper (lie) in his own words, “my grandfather taught me to sing and not put hand over heart”. “You’re making a big deal over nothing”. Or, “hey you Barack doubters are the ones who are
unpatriotic”.

But events in the 27 months since have shown the us a little more about the Boy President™

Welcome to the Thugocracy

It\'s not like the Founding Fathers did not envision this. They did.

“A republic, if you can keep it” was said to be uttered by Benjamin Franklin once the Constitution was framed.

As they met in 1787, Americans involved in shaping the new government were very familiar with tyranny, and phrases like “consent of the governed” were on their lips and on their minds. Madison and Adams and others crafted the Constitution with great care, in its effort to safe-guard America from having its new government fall into the hands of those who would reign rather than govern.

It lasted for 222 years before finally being overtaken. It took an 80-year sustained assault by a committed and evil faction who does not hold freedom, or America, dear. The culmination is this, this despicable Obama Regime, buoyed up by the Democrat Party, voted to 60% majority in the House, a 57% majority in the Senate and a largely complicit federal system and a near-complete 5th column in the American press.

Joe Klein has raised the bar dramatically for “stupidest columnist in the partisan media”

There's a new sheriff of stupid in town

Honestly, I thought the NYT Times had that sewn up. Somewhere between Paul Krugman (“if you’re not Keynesian, you’re a rich white hoarder of America’s money — AND seditious”), Bob Herbert (“if you’re not hunky-dory with the dramatic Democrat expansion of government, you’re a racist — AND seditious”), and Maureen Dowd (“if you’re a man, you’re a sexist — AND seditious”). Tom Friedman too, but honestly I can’t think of anything amusing to say about why he believes I’m seditious.

I thought SURELY one of that bunch of uneducate yahoos would be the stupidest columnist in America’s left-wing media. Perhaps before yesterday that was true.

But now Time Magazine’s Joe Klein raises the bar. According to him and his pal, New York magazine’s John Heilemann, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, and Glenn Beck are seditious. For apparently using the “regime” word to describe the Obama regime’s forceable takeover of the finance sector, the auto industry, and health care sector.

But Reverend Wright and Hillary Clinton are NOT seditous. “G-Damn America” is not seditious, nor is screaming into a microphone “we have a right to disagree with any administration”.

Oh, and Tea Party Americans are racist because Barack is black and his middle name is Hussein. [yes, I'm still trying to figure that one out] Heilleman actually said the only “triggering event” in the last 15 months was the election of Barack. I guess he slept thru cap-and-trade, porkulus, and the year-long debate over health-care takeover culminated in bought votes and parliamentary parlor tricks. He may not have noticed a rogue’s gallery of czars and cabinet officers that include pedophiles, thieves, racists, and communists.

Hey Joe and John. Pull my finger.

Obama fines Toyota $16 million for refusing to fail

Take heart, AT&T,Verizon, John Deere, Caterpillar, and any other company that complies with SEC regulations by recording huge noncash charges this quarter to reflect the tax implications of the Democrat-passed health care takeover bill. Crooked congressmen Waxman and Stupak can haul you up before committees, try to silence and intimidate you, and you can still survive.
