Amanda Carpenter is reporting over at Townhall on a promised October surprise by the Alaska Democrats: the final report of the tainted “Troopergate” investigation due out on October 31st, just four days before the national election.
Most of us political junkies know that the trooper in question, ex-husband of Palin’s sister, should have been fired. He used a Taser on his 10-year old stepson, was drinking while on duty, and threatened the life of several of Palin’s relatives if the family hired an attorney to defend Sarah’s sister in the divorce proceedings. The fact that he wasn’t fired was due mainly to intransigence on the part of the police union.
As far as I know, it is not yet clear whether or not Sarah Palin used her influence as governor to fire the state’s Public Safety Commissioner responsible for NOT firing the trooper. Mike Gravel, former Democratic senator from Alaska and one time presidential candidate has stated on air (hat tip Hot Air via Kathryn Jean Lopez at NRO’s the Corner) that he believes Troopergate will come out in Palin’s favor.
However, while in the end it may come out in her favor, there’s no denying that an October surprise could sway an ill-informed public days before the election. What can we do to mitigate this potential problem? I would argue that we need to get the details of this case exposed extensively to the public before October 31st, particularly the details about the abusive nature of this state trooper and the union influences that prevented him from being fired as he should have been. We also need to expose the Democratic partisan politics in the state that are refusing Gov. Palin a fair and non-partisan investigation. But how do we get the word out there into the non-internet public?

You can start by giving the issue a new name.

It's an inquisition of Palin in the hands of a Very Fair Democrat Investigation.
Rod_Patrick (Diary) Tuesday, September 9th at 10:30PM EDT (link)Sadly, the Republicans in Alaska are also part of the inquisition.
I bet these people haven’t yet heard the word “CONFLICT OF INTEREST”.

Very detailed research on the issue.
Those who had once simpered: “I don’t want to destroy the rich, I only want to seize a little of their surplus to help the poor, just a little, they’ll never miss it!” – then, later, had snapped: “The tycoons can stand being squeezed; they’ve amassed enough to last them for three generations” – then, later, had yelled: “Why should the people suffer while businessmen have reserves to last a year?” – now were screaming: “Why should we starve while some people have reserves to last a week?” – Atlas Shrugged
Elizibeth, I agree...
jack_serious (Diary) Tuesday, September 9th at 10:43PM EDT (link)…there should be a onslaught of information about it released as well information on the group that’s planning the October Surprise–and you know there’s going to be one or two tried by Obama and Axelrod. It’s how they roll. I posted a blurb the other day about Obama’s election history, and his pattern of shiftless tricks is his hallmark.
I think the best thing to do is promote the notion that it’s coming in late Oct., and hopefully the folks will see it for what it is when it happens. But make no mistake, Obama’s election MO is to assassinate the character of his opponents in the courts and in public so he can eliminate them. It’s easy for him to win when there’s no one to run against him–hopefully, that’s what the Axelrod/Obama Campaign Strategies will become famous for doing.

This is very scary
Gary (Diary) Wednesday, September 10th at 1:38AM EDT (link)I have no worries about Palin in debates or gotcha questions from reporters. I am worried about this though. When you have 2 democrats that support Obama calling it an “October suprise”, and “damaging”, you need to be concerned. Then they try to get someone less partisan to head the investigation but the guy who makes that decision is a liberal too. Shes got alot of enemys up there from the cleaning house she did and I see a witch hunt happening. October 31st???? Amazing how they are timing this. It does give me comfort hearing that McCain has some high powered lawyers on it already.

Uma Richie (Diary) Wednesday, September 10th at 7:17AM EDT (link)Thank you! My creativity levels are at an all time low.
I can’t speak for all women, but as soon as this story came out (which was about two weeks before Gov Palin became the VP nominee), I immediately decided in favor of the sister. In the absence of other details, I visualized the brother-in-law as a psycho-cop straight out of the movies and attributed to him the qualities of every ratfink my friends, sisters or I ever encountered. Hopefully others have done the same.
Perhaps we need to look at Frenchs' Oil connections
NCConservative (Diary) Wednesday, September 10th at 7:29AM EDT (link)according to his web site, he has connections with OIL COMPANIES:
Business and Professional Positions:
Co-owner, French Apartments, 1989-present; lead operator, ARCO, 1991-1992; production operator, ARCO, 1984-1990, Shell Oil Company, 1980-1984.

LOL before that he was co-owner of the ‘French Apartmetns”???? OMG Guess I am co-owner in the NCConservative Household.
You really cant make this stuff up.
How about the "French Inquisition"?
Elizabeth (Diary) Wednesday, September 10th at 8:12AM EDT (link)Given that Hollis French is in charge of the “investigation”, why not call it the “French Inquisition”? Maybe we need to be investigating French and getting lots of information about him and this highly partisan and vengeful investigation out onto the friendly airwaves.

Investigate the investigator
jack_serious (Diary) Wednesday, September 10th at 10:18AM EDT (link)Especially when Axelrod or Obama have any (any at all) connection to them. A and O are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to dirty, dirty politics.
