Think Precinct Committeemen Are Local Drudges? Think Again.

You could call it shameless accrual of political power, or you could call it selfless public service.  I incline toward the latter, because I’ve had a tiny taste of it.

Whatever you call it, there is no question that there may be some surprises in store for the new precinct committeecritter in your locale.

Elected to the Local County Committee

Certainly, a committeeman should expect the normal duties of registering voters, raising funds, supporting civic clubs, finding candidates, etc. But depending on your local laws and party rules, you may find yourself making much more important decisions.

A few weeks ago, we noted that Arizona’s GOP State Chair was removed from office by a single local district committee.

But there’s more.  Much, much more.

Appointive Offices and Vacancies.
When governors, mayors, etc. make appointments to fill commissions and boards,  the first pool of candidates they usually examine is the pool of precinct committeemen.  That same pool of precinct committeemen is usually the first examined when a governor or mayor must make an appointment (search the linked article on ‘central committee’) to fill a vacancy in this or that commission, board or council.  In some areas, these vacancy appointments can reach into state legislatures and even US Congress.

Of course, it all depends on your local laws and party bylaws.  You will learn both if you serve.

Local Committees Fill Vacancies Directly
But not all vacancies are filled by the local executive branch.  In many areas, it’s up to the local party committee to fill a vacancy like Sheriff.  Or state senator.   Or a local city council.  and yes, even US Congress.

The liberals have known how to play this game for the last 30 or 40 years and they have played it well.  It’s the reason we find ourselves surrounded at every government level with victicrats, politically correct ‘public servants’ who are so open-handed with our tax revenues.

So the question becomes: do you want to let these pools of candidates continue to be filled with selfish, power-hungry politicians?   Do you want to be filling these vacancies yourself?

Or do you want to leave it up to someone else?

Historically, we’ve made the latter choice and it has not served us.

Crooks run for office with the incentive of becoming rich. Honest people work hard for less than they can make in their private sector professions.

Ron, I am not sure if you are the same Ron Robinson discussed in this news article (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/256152/californian-activist-warns-rnc-choose-wisely-brian-bolduc), but I assume you are. The list of the RNC’s voting delegates for the next RNC Chair is here: http://www.gop.com/index.php/site/states
Click on the state. The voting members are the chairman, and the two national committeemen

I’ve been asked to publish the full letter here and am considering it, especially since some of the responses from RNC members to folks who forwarded copies of the letter are so very informative of how our RNC members regards us (not well – disdain might be a good word).

Thank you for providing the link to the RNC contact info.

Be sure to write the RNC members for your state and also your state chairs (they are RNC members, too) Dear Readers. They need to know you are watching – and if you get an ‘interesting’ response, forward it to me in case I decide to publish the captioned letter – I will publish some of the RNC’s responses alongside in the interests of sunlight. You need to know who your state delegates are electing to the RNC and help inform them if they need to change their choice in the future.
