This is a short rather brief diary about one of my biggest problems with Disqus. Just 18 days before a national election I am unable to read beyond the diary as comments are for all my purposes, hidden. Disqus refuses to load. Would I like Disqus to “reload”, well hell yes. The past week I have been ill and not doing much more than catching up on all my Internet reading. During the debate Tuesday night I couldn’t see the comments, nor could I comment far into the debate, I believe it was over an hour I hit “reload” and refreshed the site to no avail. Dang it, I wanted in. I wanted to read real Conservative reaction. Time after time I will read a diary and want to comment only to discover that once again, yep Disqus not loading in. Is there anyone else experiencing this nonsense? I’ll go to other sites and Disqus is humming along and I rarely see that “reload” hypertext.

I will be in the middle of making a comment when Disqus suddenly refreshes the page and yep, the “reload” prompt appears. WHAT? Do I type a word that automatically refreshes the webpage? Yesterday it happened over 6 times. I am not talking conspiracy here, but seriously, what in the heck is going on?

It isn’t right to say things like “this is the last straw”, as we want RedState to continue to have an impact in Conservative lives. I was going to go back to a Disqus related post to write this but haven’t been able to get Disqus to load this morning for more than a few minutes..then Poof, gone again. This ain’t helping me want to stay and I know the MODS are tired of listening to complaints. Hopefully you’ll all see I have a legitimate problem – any solutions?

I don’t like Disqus, not at all. RedState comments now reflect more down arrows than up arrows. How in the hell did that happen? Well, we know the answer is that the Disqus folks don’t really believe in the type of privacy that we believe in at RedState.

Having said that, a few days ago I decided to click on follow whenever I find someone I know from Before The Change. For me,when I go to the Disqus dashboard and read down all their comments a sense of the old community comes back for me. I am not stalking or interrupting, just getting the flow of a sensational Conservative conversation!

I apologize if I have asked to follow someone who prefers not to be followed. I believe that only those of us registered and logged in to RedState can follow one another (could be wrong here) so the initial fear we had that every loon on the Internet could follow us has been eliminated. (could be wrong here) I also believe that you can push me off as a follower (could be wrong here).

There may be a theme in that last paragraph (could be wrong here) and it is that not enough is known about Disqus and how it works. And the Disqus help section isn’t that great in my opinion.

So to follow or not to follow, that is where I’m headed in this diary. Please express you thoughts and help me out. Thanks. Elaine, also know as mrsemptybucket

Okay enough already. It has been over a month since Ambassador Stevens “and 3 others” were murdered in a terrorist attack against our United States Embassy in Libya. A month and still the headlines are the same – “and 3 others”. Those brave former Navy Seals were Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods. Sean Smith was a Foreign Service Information Officer.

Got it Mr. President and all you “hip” media types. Glen Doherty, Tyrone Woods, and Sean Smith were murdered in Libya. They are not “and 3 others”, they were men working in a volatile area of the world on behalf of the United States. Us.

You have to search quite a while on the Internet to find out the names of these gentlemen and that is disgusting and shows just how lazy media has become. Article after article about Ambassador Stevens “and 3 others”. Over a month and still press releases about this horrible terrorist attack are still sketchy and still use that “and 3 others” in their titles.

Is the Obama administration really thinking the American public is so dumb that we are just going to sit back, re-elect him and trust some “independent” report being done internally by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton perhaps reporting in November. (after the election) It is not acceptable that even political figures high up in the administration do not name the Doherty, Woods and Smith along with Stevens. It is a continuous slap in the face for their families and the rest of us who mourn the loss of American citizens abroad.

Amb. Stevens, Glenn Doherty, Tyrone Woods and Sean Smith died on September 11, 2012. All of their families are still waiting to hear, why? This lack of good, solid journalism has to stop. I wonder if Obama can name all 4 gentlemen or if he also is stuck in the “and 3 others” loop?

Haven’t written a diary in quite a while as it’s taken weeks to get disqus to acknowledge me and then only when I added a mrs to my emptybucket handle. Go figure, there is sometimes no rhyme or reason involved with computer glitches. I stopped commenting quite so much as I noticed a rising level of angst toward the amount of trolls wanting to spew their venom here at RedState. I scream aloud while asking to what purpose are they here? Why even come to RedState and lurk? There is not one single RS person who is going to be anything other than annoyed with the trolls’ presentation of the Liberal/Lefty point of view.

Myself, I’ve noticed that I am talking in short choppy sentences leaving out those little things that make thoughts somehow coherent and meaningful. I know why this is happening – I have allowed myself to become so angry that I actually think there are times smoke billows out of my ears. I loathe our current president of the United States. Never in my adult life have I ever experienced this kind of pent-up rage. My level of agitation is extreme. The Office of The President of the United States was once respected the world over but now has become just shy of an inexperienced, thin skinned CEO having no credibility with anyone, anywhere. Even loyal democrats are questioning the vacations, the constant basketball, the 100 plus games of golf, the obvious disdain for “those beneath his social status”, the TV ads calling Mitt liar, and some are even joining us in agreeing Michelle’s gone too far with her focus on our children not being the perfect eaters or size.

I am still trying to figure out how our president figured out he didn’t need to attend daily briefings!

Back to the reason I’m writing; I think this anger is not mine alone and that there are many of us in the same frame of mind. What are You doing to sooth your frazzled nerves? Tonight I have tuned out politics and I’m not going to watch another newscast and I’m not going to go on the Internet to read the latest….right, like that is ever going to happen!

Think I’d better turn to the best solution, booze! No, just kidding. I’m going to double down on my prayer time for this America I love. Oh, and please forgive the occasion comment where I am barely coherent due to a high level of frustration with the subject matter. I thank God for RedState and the chance it gives me to talk with others who many times think the way I do.

We are excited. We have a chance to vote for a man who showed us during the RNC Convention that he is not some auto-bot with dollar signs for eyeballs. Romney is so much more than the Left will ever admit to, when the Romney/Ryan families were all gathered at the podium I thought, at last we can have a real family back in the White House. Everything is staged and pretense with the Obamas.

Unlike others, I do not like Obama and never have. I wasn’t blinded beyond common sense into believing he could fix the Earth’s oceans or our environment. As a Believer my thoughts usually range from we need to be good stewards of what God has blessed us with ….to, okay it is worth it to rinse out cans, collect recycle items and not let anything into our garbage that could be reused. But, hey, we’ve been doing that for years, long before the current trendy tree-huggers thought of it. Oh yeah, we used cloth diapers, can you imagine some of your liberal friends subscribing to that? We’re rural folk we have never wasted a thing. Romney could have a conversation with us about the different things we’ve done; such as tearing down a 3 story barn 11 miles from our home and hauling it home on a tractor and wagon to rebuild into a 2 story barn, or tearing down a silo, block by block to use the materials to build a round above ground swimming pool, or building our home – not by sub contracting! Obama would not be able to connect to people like us in any way and guess what, he hasn’t. However, Romney has already connected with us. We believe he is a real human being, not some super messiah able to solve all our problems.

We enjoyed listening to our next President saying whole sentences and expressing his thoughts without all the stuttering and ah, um, oh, etc. gyrations Obama puts us through. True, we use the mute button whenever Obama is on as it is painful to listen to him make no sense along with evading questions, and they (the left) said GW was hard to listen to. Listening to Obama is torture, especially during interviews where there are so many hesitations and run on sentences you give up trying to comprehend what he is saying. This from a man the Democrat party consistently has said is one of the most articulate politicians we have. Of course they somehow manage to mention Clinton was better but that is about it.

Speaking of articulate politicians, wow, what a convention. The democrats have no one, no one that talks in the down to earth manner Martinez, Christy, Rubio and Ryan do when addressing the American people.

Back to Romney, for the next 2 months be bold! When someone starts but, but, butting you about how many great things Obama has done, is doing and will do for America come right back at them with what an incredible man, husband, father, grandfather, and friend Mitt is. There is nothing wrong with voting for Romney/Ryan as President of our United States. He is one of us not some elitist extreme politician who will never know what day to day life is for the majority of Americans.

Don’t buy into the Liberal talking points about no substance to Mitt, throw mr. shallow man at them. When they mention Mitt hasn’t put forth a definite plan, throw Obama’s totally lack of follow through on his campaign promises. Where we are from it is much better to not make promises you might not be able to keep. It is called being a person of your word…you don’t speak without thought and do not make empty promises to appease someone. That is something a 6 year old does. When they start the “blame Bush” then mention Obama’s 105+ rounds of golf and show them a picture of the empty oval office. AND a pix of an empty chair!

When your sister or brother start spouting the latest telephone conference talking points from the DNC, just sit there and love them anyway and hope the light bulb will turn on in their brain before the election. Just keep wearing that smile that projects anticipation and hope for the future of the country you love, the United States of America.

Looking forward to the debates, Biden hasn’t got a chance and Romney now has Ryan with him. He will learn how to wipe the floor with Obama!

Have republished parts of this diary as now that the DNC has started would like to say something like “I told you so!” Is there anyone in the room who does not think Michele’s speech was pure make believe and pretense. Come on. We do come from a poor background and my dad would have never allowed me to get into a car like she describes and can anyone, anyone see Obama dumpster diving for a coffee table? I can believe he scarfed it up from the curb but that’s about it in the “imagine this” category.

It will be interesting to see/hear if Obama continues to talk in choppy 3 or 4 word phrases Thursday night, if he will talk like Americans can’t comprehend his grand plan and if he will consistently ask for 4 more years to explain this great future he has planned for transformed America.

Would love to hear from my RS friends but know that when I hit publish this diary will only be seen if someone accidentally clicks on my symbol next to comments, I think. Haven’t quite figured that out yet. It certainly was a great laugh when Erick wrote the designers were working on a users manual, in my world that would have come first or at least been available at start-up of the new site. Still fighting with non existent security certificates for the new web address. Oh great, disqus is refusing to load in the comment section. Hate to say it but after a week of fighting with all this great new stuff am thinking about giving up. We still cannot read each other’s diaries, hell we can’t even find them. The latest non front page diary is from August 24 I think. Am I the only one who has thought from the very first “glitch” that RS was going to wean the non front page posters from this site and keep it more like Townhall is? More like an online newspaper less like a community of like minded conservatives boosting each others morale.

This is a test diary, of sorts. First to see if it shows up on RS, Second to see if I can figure out where it will show up, and most importantly, Third, to say hello to all of you who up until about 5 days ago were adding to my Conservative education by leaps and bounds.

Would like to express profound thanks to those who have commented on my few diaries, those who recommended a diary of mine, and those who patiently helped me out quite a few weeks ago when I decided to “show” my voice at RedState. I miss you terribly. I can’t find you. I cannot see your stream of comments at the right of the screen. We can longer watch that real time list and jump in when a comment needs further feedback or in some cases, gentle reprimand. There is no longer a column of our diaries separated by the top 10 recommended and those not recommended. I miss that, I really do. Often times I would start at the bottom of the non recommended diary list and read up through to the top. So many superior thoughts expressed on a daily basis – I miss that column.

For me, that just might be what I think would be called the “deal breaker”. That sense of closeness with fellow conservatives expressing their viewpoints be it via witty repartee or outright, “you are an idiot” is gone. Sure you can click on comments once you find that teeny box that blends right into the background with its subtle blueness (I want redness, btw) but it is just that, a list of comments with just a diary title to reference what on earth the comment is about.

For those of us at RedState who felt a sense of comrodery and community there is this general feeling that perhaps the website developers that RS picked for this change might not have been RS users. That could possibly answer Erick’s pondering that things didn’t quite go as smoothly as he expected. Only a RedState frequent User would know what would be missed, and what would be a heck of a great change.

It’s kind of like our health overhaul problem in America, however, you’ll love it once we get the bugs fixed might not be the answer. Perhaps, let’s repeal the change and go back to square one and do the upgrade from a RedState user’s perspective. I haven’t expressed that well have I? If the developers were/are RS fans, they sure missed the mark in a few areas.

We have become a society that discusses “Abortion” while the majority of women choose it as Plan A for all pregnancies. I do not buy into the current controversy regarding Senator Akin. There has to be some behind the scene reason so many GOP bigwigs have jumped on the “resign now” band wagon. I have been commenting for several weeks that many Conservatives place Abortion on the back burner, so to speak, as they personal feel it should not be a political issue. Well, the elephant is the room is definitely Abortion.

It is a political issue that the Democrats have been pushing to the forefront for many years. Probably not many will read this short diary but perhaps those that do will sit back and really cement their position on Abortion. Is it right, or is it wrong?

Every fiber of my being says it is wrong. 40 years ago when were told we would not be able to have children there was an immediate attempt to get on waiting lists for adoption. At that time there was a 5 to 7 year waiting list for an infant. We did not pursue adoption in 1971 as we made a decision to just live our lives and keep our eyes on what the Lord had in store for us. We had a lot of little kids around us so we had children to love which helped us to cope with the sad news we would never have a child.

A person can rationalize, justify, explain, whatever – in America when an unwanted pregnancy occurs we have become a nation that accepts Plan A as the first solution. Does no woman even consider carrying the baby full term for adoption? Even a raped woman might find some solace in providing a childless family with a child to love. A way to turn something evil into something good…no, the Plan A option will be chosen.

It shouldn’t be a political issue, but it is. Sure the issue can be sidestepped by saying, “I believe abortions should not be funded by the government”, however that really doesn’t answer the call to support those who feel abortion is wrong. No matter how it happened, social issues are being driven by the media and the Internet and the Democrats; and now the Republicans.

We do not want to be talking about gay marriages (here in NY there were foisted upon us without a vote), and we definitely do not want to be talking about abortion.

As solid Conservatives we are concerned about the financial cliff Democrats are driving us over. We are concerned that Medicare is consistently raided by Washington. We worry about the future for our grandson – yes, after 8 years of marriage God gave us a son.

Adoption instead of abortion, could that be a conversation for America right now? Probably not! The Democrats are never going to let this one go.

Yoder (R) jumped into the Sea of Galilee naked after drinking while relaxing on a Congressional fact finding trip. While I think, what an idiot to myself, am wondering why now Politico feels the need to release this story. Does Politico really think this is somehow going to spill any paint on Romney/Ryan?

Am so disgusted with the dirty tactics the Left is using this time around. Have never seen politics so wrong. By wrong, I mean that a true political campaign doesn’t need to find dirt on the opponent in order to win. A true campaign is run in an ethical way touting all the positives. This negative, smearing of anything Republican is ridiculous.

It leads me back to my original RedState question, is there really 50% of America that will vote for Obama?

We feel a landslide coming! As for Yoder, why on earth did he do such a foolish thing? Why? Politicians need to leave the booze alone. Or they at least need to quit blaming “the drink” for their own stupidity. Don’t know much about Yoder and up until now didn’t even know that name. Should I go look him up and see if he is a RINO? or can one guess that based on his swim in front of other Congressional families in the buff enough information!

UPDATE: did go check out his official website, seems mostly an old site with no updates since he was elected in 2010, didn’t get the idea he was a Tea Party candidate.

Article after article on the Net about Ahmadinejad spouting off about either wiping Israel off the map or some variation thereof. This is the same man that US officials identified as involved in the 1979 Iran hostage crisis that lead to Operation Eagle Claw. For those too young to remember politics from 1979-1980 please do a search on Iran Hostage Crisis and/or President Carter. I would type it all in here but it’s a bit off point so will continue on.

Today Drudge has placed a picture of “Imadinnerjacket” front and center with the headline “Ahmadinejad-Israel will be destroyed”. I didn’t even click on the hypelink. Why read yet one more article about this looney toon. Is the current administration going to do anything, anything to protect Israel from this guy?

Does Obama and his minions even agree that Iran is a threat to Israel. The media is so hell bent on protecting everything and all things Obama that article after article about a supposed major threat to the Middle East is simply that…an article about Iran being a threat to the Middle East.

Is the United States every going to get serious about Ahmadinejad? Does the current administration know something we don’t, such as all the guy does is spout rhetoric, or is there a real threat?

As an American citizen I’d like to know! As someone who Prays for the Peace of Israel, I’d like to know just where Obama really stands. Sure we can get into a conversation about sanctions and whether or not they work. My point is that I’ve yet to get the feeling that anyone in this Administration even thinks Imadinnerjacket is a threat. He is a terrorist for gosh sake.
