Court Tosses Out Voter ID Lawsuit

I and just about everybody else could have told them that would happen

See here:

A Fulton County judge ruled Friday that Georgia voters will have to present a photo ID when casting a ballot in Tuesday’s primary election, rejecting a motion by Democrats who argued the law could disenfranchise voters.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Tom Campbell ruled that the Democrats failed “to meet the legal standard” to block the state from requiring all in-person voters to present valid, government-issued photo identification to cast a ballot.

The issue now is how much the Democratic Party of Georgia has had to shell out for what most observers knew was a foregone defeat.

Now, if we can just get Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Washington, New Mexico and New Jersey to follow Georgia’s example.

It takes true grit to do it.

As in a strong conservative majority in each state legislature.

Accompanied by an unwavering judiciary which respects the rule of law and rejects the premise that it is their duty to impose fairness.

Don’t worry. I couldn’t hold my breath that long even if I wanted to.

What with all their sensitivity about voter fraud. Think about it. We have to show an I.D. to cash a check but no one wants a safeguard when you vote?

I’m already having nightmares over the history of JFK’s election (Chicago–the city that will live in infamy so to speak).

Why would anyone not want to show an ID to vote? Plus, it’s easy in most states to do absentee if you don’t want to go in person. My whole family votes that way.

They love the fact that illegal voters are able to sway elections their way.

on voter ID has nothing to do with common sense measures to stop real voter fraud.

Which, through dilution, actually disenfranchises every legal voter who cast a ballot.

It’s more difficult for cats, dogs and dead people to vote, if at the polls, they’re required to show a photo-ID.

The game is played by having your poll watchers check off each person that votes. Then late in the day, you have a nice list of every registered voter, real or fictional, live or dead, who hasn’t voted. This is the reason you so often see the Democrats calling for the polls to stay open longer in their special precincts. You call for the van(s) and give all your “voters” the name they are to vote under. When they come back out with their “I Voted, Did You?” sticker or whatever is handed out, you reach in your bag of “walking around money” and hand them the going price, usually $10 or so, but sometimes and some places much more. It is Democrat and Union Voting 101, but picture ID requirements screw it up.

The Democratic Party has a long and cherished history of “vote early, vote often” and “just because you are dead doesn’t mean your vote is any less precious.”

Tossing this suit is an affront to the deeply held convictions of a major part of the American electorate.

are fraudulent voters. All others will be able to vote. When used in combination with the provisional ballots, there is no way that a legitimate voter would be disenfranchised by needing to show a valid ID.

Didn’t one of the federal apellate courts already rule on this? I guess I should look it up, but I’m pretty sure it has been called constitutional at a pretty high level.

recent Supreme Court ruling on the Indiana Voter ID law?

As I recall (since I wrote a column in the AJC at the time) Georgia amended its original Voter ID law after a Federal District Court Judge, the former Speaker’s brother, a Democrat, made a ruling suggesting the changes that were adopted by the GOP Legislature.

People voting illegally does harm ALL voters through diluting the power of each vote.

    Good point.

Llok for huge numbers of absentee ballots to be cast in November. The Ds will adjust.

  • Erick

Absurdly, they claimed that the US Supreme Court decision bolstered their case.

We already have Eichelberger. Give us a little time and give Eich your support and we’ll get there too.
This is a State that really, REALLY wants to be Conservative.

Well, except for Philly and Pitt, anyway…
