Sarah Lai Strickland Totally Downplays Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers, and Marilyn Katz

Well, she is a blogger for a tech publication, so let's give her the benefit of the doubt.

Check this out. Wired blogger Sarah Lai Strickland has a look at the GOP’s Facebook parody site of Obama. In it, she notes:

Rezko, a Chicago landlord, *most recently was in the headlines for being on trial for corruption*. Ayers, now a university professor, was a member of the violent 1960s group The Weather Underground, and Katz, now a public-relations consultant, was a former student activist involved in sometimes-violent Vietnam War protests against the police. Rezko is a campaign donor, Ayers sat on the board of a charity with Obama, and Katz is a fund-raiser.

How about Rezko was convicted on 16 counts in a federal corruption trial.

Oh, and how about Barack Obama got his start in elected office in Bill Ayers’s living room.

Let’s not forget Marilyn Katz who was not just “involved in” the protests. She marched in 1968 at the Democratic National Convention, through nails in the street to obstruct police, and championed a “Democratic Socialist paradise.”

admitted that he’d set bombs in the US, avoiding a guilty verdict because of procedural errors by the prosecutors.

That makes him an admitted terrorist, and a friend of Barry.

    Unhandled exception? I’ll try again.

In addition to convicted Rezko and admitted terrorist Ayers, Obama also:

    1. Surrounded himself with people who hate America and hold our nation in contempt. Both his reverend of 20 years, and the woman he married have made that clear in their comments. Michael Barone pointed out a few months back that while a plurality of liberals agreed with this and this may even have been an asset in the primary, the split within the Democratic party is a “permanent problem” for their party. This is a wedge issue we should reinforce. Obama should not get away with reinventing himself with a few cheap ads and having finally muzzled Wright.

    2. Obama gets “explained” a lot by his advisors. Goolsbe reassured the Canadians that he didn’t mean what he said on trade policy. Several advisors stated he did not mean he would really preicipitously and immediately withdraw from Iraq. His reverend stated Obama will say what he needs to as a politician. Biden stated Obama got the “wrong answer” on meeting with foreign leaders without preconditions and did not really mean it.

The other common thread to these comments? Obama subsequently changed his publicly stated position on each of these issues. Obama himself has stated he, like other politicians, exaggerates sometimes. Although for him, that would seem euphemistic. Bottom line is he is not someone we can trust to be honest or he is simply malleable by the prevailing political wind.

    1. Obama’s donors include to the tune of $200,000,000.00 high dollar donors. How many political favors does he owe to special interests and lobbyists? For those in the political center swayed left in the past few years by charges that the GOP or Bush were the “no special interest left behind” party, let’s redefine the Democratic brand and Obama with this same, if not worse, tendency. And, while we’re at it, we can remind folks McCain should have political teflon on any charges of being beholden to lobbyists, because unlike Obama, he is taking public funds. Also unlike Obama McCain is not breaking his promise to take funds the moment it became politically inconvenient to do something he had proclaimed to be important to the integrity of the process.

Let’s paint him by the company he keeps.
