Nancy Pelosi Live at 3:00 EDT

No, Nancy won’t be discussing energy policy, but she will be discussing her new book that is selling crap poorly.

The discussion will be live via the Washington Post’s website. You can ask her a question by going here.

Hint: the question can be about why she won’t let energy legislation be voted on instead of about her book.

Oh, and why not copy and paste your question into the comment thread here.

    Dear Speaker
Why do you hate poor people?

  • Slightly_Askew

Why did you feel it necessary to include, in a book that was meant to lift up young women, so many negatives to the Republican Party, of which many young women are members? Was it an attempt to introduce them to the more enlightened views of the Democratic Party? What would you say to young Republican women who would see you as a representation of what a woman can accomplish, but now feel betrayed by your derision for them based on their political views?

  • aaronbg

    Rep. Pelosi,

My questions for you are with regard to the early adjournment of the House on Friday.

First, why did you decide to adjourn when the American people are searching for answers to the high gas prices?

Second, why did you decide to deny the House Republicans, who stayed to discuss the number one issue of this election, the ability to use the microphones, cameras, and lights in the people’s house? You are the leader of the House Democrats, who stand for free political speech and patriotic dissent. Don’t you very actions conflict with this core philosophy of the Democratic Party?

    Thanks,

    Aaron B. Gardner

  • Chancelot

When will you turn on the C-SPAN cameras so the remaining House members may be seen by the nation? Isn’t silencing dissent beneath the office with which the nation honors you?

  • Uma_Richie

Can you please turn the House floor C-SPAN cameras back on? I don’t think it’s fair that I have to drive an hour and then board my three young children onto the Metro and then shepherd them over to Capitol Hill just to see for myself that the Republicans are really there discussing energy policy.

By the way, would any of your staff members be willing to babysit for about an hour while I sit in the gallery?

  • E_Pluribus_Unum

That book? Hmmph. I can see why WaPo would want to drop everything they are doing (selling America out) and cover that one.

  • kandrew

    Madam Speaker,

What do you feel is more important, voting on legislation to help lower gas prices and ease the burden on American families or shelling your book all over the country?

  • itdiehard

When will the maids done cleanup the house?

    1. why are you so angry?
    2. how can you attribute a congressional approval rating (all time low) of 9% to anything dealing with George Bush?
    3. Why won’t you answer number 2?
    4. how can you, with clear conscience, adjourn an all time low group of individuals (emphasis on individuals) in lieu of addressing the most pressing issue in America?
    5. When are you going to answer #2?
    6. Have you ever listened to yourself and thought “wow, I must be the luckiest girl in the world”, b/c how you came to power and continue to be there is an absolute mystery to anyone with half a foot in reality and economic prowess.
    7. When are you going to concede that drilling will reduce the cost of oil today? Speculation will be impacted and according to your mesiah, speculation is the real culprit here.
  • danhop2005

    Rep. Pelosi,
It is disappointing that you oppose new drilling for oil in the United States. The Republicans protesting on Capitol Hill are doing the right thing while you turn your eyes and ears away from true democracy.
Enjoy your vacation for now–it will hurt you in November.

  • Vladimir

Environmentally damaging oil spills occur when oil is moved in boats and barges: witness last year’s spill in San Francisco Bay, in your home district.

The last 40 years experience with offshore drilling and production have proven pipelines to be safer and cleaner than tankers, yet you are unwilling to support opening more of the OCS to exploration.

Why? And if you won’t support drilling off our coasts, are you willing to be held accountable for the next large tanker spill?

  • rstreu

Nancy Pelosi is America’s Mom: “I came to see my public service as an extension of my role as a mother – to make the future better for children. That is why as Speaker I gaveled the House to order “for all of America’s children.” “

Also, somebody didn’t ask a question but said they were forming a draft Pelosi for VP group.

So, even though the WaPo editorial staff reserves the right to only submit “relevant” questions, this one passes muster. Surely, one of our questions re: energy and early vacations ought to be brought up.

  • kandrew

Which is more harmful to the environment, the paper wasted on your “book” many copies of which will never leave bookshelves, or off-shore drilling?

  • nivlem

    Madame Speaker:

Does the forward in your book include
    the following:

1.) Do as I say, not as I do.

2.) The end justifies the means, so however you use your power is justified no matter what others or your Mother says
to enable you to reach your goal.

3.) Does it explain why your book is so
important?? My Mother taught me about
power and what I need to know – and she walked the walk. You are not my Mother, and your abuse of power is not a sign of
power, but a sign of weakness. These
are things I don’t need to know.

Maybe Harry Ried should write this forward.

“Why did you ignore 75% of the United States by refusing to allow a vote to solve the energy crisis?”

    HA!

    Pelosi:

“I always encourage incoming Members of Congress to follow the three Cs – the Constitution, their conscience, and their constituents – and remind them that their title and their job description are the same: representative.

It is up to each elected official to balance their responsibilities to the three Cs and to explain that balance to their constituents. We will not always agree with our elected officials 100% of the time, but we can expect them to do what they believe is right.”

  • rstreu

Well, that was a waste of time. Among questions the WaPo editors felt were “relevant”:
    “What’s your favorite book?”
“We’re starting a ‘Draft Nancy for VP’ movement.”
“Do you think representatives should vote how their constituents want them to?”

But, oddly, not “why did you feel that going on a book tour was more important than solving what is truly a crisis for millions of Americans?” or some derivitave thereof.

    Guess it wasn’t sycophantic enough.

  • rstreu

And of course, Nancy not only -doesn’t- really answer the question, but blameshifts it right back to the Republicans… and the QnA right after this one is priceless.

    Marietta, GA:

Although this forum is primarily focused on your book, I cannot help but bring up an issue that is affecting each and every American. Why have the American people not seen energy legislation that lowers the price of gas?

  • wt259

“It was truly an astonishing experience, as if Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott, Alice Paul, and all the other suffragettes and activists who had worked hard to advance women in government and in life were right there with me.”
Nancy sees dead people too. Must be something in the Dem’s bottled water.
