Saxby Chambliss on the Radio This Morning

Tomorrow is my last day on the radio here at WMAC.

But, until 9am tomorrow, I’ll still be having fun.

Today, at 8:30 a.m. EDT, I’ll be speaking with Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) about the Gang of 10 Energy Deal.

You can listen here. You can call in at 866-940-9622.

I want to get into the details with Senator Chambliss, who has now joined Senator Graham in signing Senator DeMint’s letter to open the Outer Continental Shelf.

One thing I want to ask him is this: the media reports this deal will take OCS off limits. So does support of one conflict with support of the other? How on earth can they be balanced?

Tune in to find out.

Sen. Chambliss Held His Own

BigGator5 Thursday, August 14th at 8:17AM EDT (link)

I just listen to the first part of the interview.

I just want to pre-face with the fact that I’ve been silent on this issue, mostly because I didn’t know too much about the Gang of Ten’s bill or the bill’s criticism.

I have to say that Senator Chambliss answered very tough questions with very good answers. He did an awesome job making his case.

I also have to say that Erick, you also cleared up a lot of questions I had about the bill’s criticism. You also were really respectful toward Senator Chambliss, but didn’t let him off the hook on your issues with the bill.

Now I’m still not sold either way. It does seem that the bill has good things and bad things. However I agree with Senator Chambliss that the Gang of Ten’s bill should have it’s day on the floor on the Senate and open to amendments. It is only fair, no?

If they let it on the floor

And allow a healthy dose of amendments, that’d be fair.

Who will stand on either hand and keep this bridge with me?

I hope

Saxby returns back to your show after this and gives us updates on the amendments. In fact, regular updates here at RS would be much better.

Is that possible, Boss?

BTW, congrats on the very good interview.

What is EDT?

Raven Thursday, August 14th at 11:25AM EDT (link)

What does it stand for? How does it compare to EST? When did it come into use and why?

I’ve been using EST (or PST or MST or…) my whole life. I’ve only just started to get the hang of GMT-[whatever] and now there’s EDT as well. STOP IT!

“Unlike cruel liberty that requires you to stand and take responsibility for your choices, kind tyranny requires only that you kneel and surrender your choices.”

I think it's Every Day Time.... like LOL. No relation to GMT. I dunno! <nt>

Not funny.

My bad. Sorry for my wrong answer. I flunked in economics (another poor joke).

Here’s the EDT of Night Twister.

Here’s the correct link.

I called Senator Bob Corker's Memphis office today

Haley37 Thursday, August 14th at 12:43PM EDT (link)

I had volunteered and worked the phone for the Corker campaign in 2006, and I let it be known that Senator Corker is not following the wishes of his constituents. I also told the nice lady who answered the phone that GOP voters have gotten sick of hearing the words Republican followed by the word Compromise as that usuually signals capitulation on the part of our side. I also told her that most GOP voters loathe Lindsey Graham, and that Senator Corker attaching his name to anything that Grahmnesty supports is not a good thing for his future career.
I also contacted Senator Roger Wicker’s office. He has a bill that calls for lifting the ban on offshore drilling and doesn’t include subsidies, tax raises and pork like Grahamesty’s bill has in it.
Get on the line fellow Redstaters and melt these Senators’ phones in D.C. so they will see that we are serious about not caving anymore on issues of national security and energy independence which OIL represents.
We WON on the Amnesty issue and we can win again if we pull these five well-intentioned idiots back from this foolish course of action.
Don’t wait, call NOW!
