I don’t understand what difference it would make anyway. McCain said what he thought. I’m QUITE sure Obama’s comments wouldn’t have influenced him in the LEAST. I’ve gone from, “I’m voting for McCain because he’s the lesser of two evils,” to really believing he’s the best man for the job. YAY, Saddleback!!

The McCain campaign should be fuming at Andrea Mitchell’s gossipmongering.

Was it too difficult for her to simply call Rick Warren to confirm what happened? Apparently so.

This is nothing more than what children on the playground engage in when they lose. They can’t be embarrassed by losing, so they say the other party cheated.

All this does is make the embarrassment worse. Now, not only did they lose, they’re also bitter about it.

Nobody likes a sore loser. Someone needs to tell the lefties it’s time to grow up.

The impression from the Obots is that McCain is an old decrepit relic. I’m surprised someone older than dirt like him would have such razor-sharp hearing.

Someone needs to post a side-by-side set of videos from the Saddleback interviews. One video for each question with both Obama’s and Senator McCain’s answers.

This should be made available on YouTube and anywhere else. Or at least provide a side-by-side transcript of the answers.

…Obama doesn’t follow Christ, although I certainly understand the importance of that in the Saddleback forum. I think the problem is that Obama seems generally unconvicted of any particular faith, as is pointed at in the subtitle.

I am Jewish but I definitely care that our President has an absolute faith that is unshakeable, one that produces things like quick answers of “at conception” with no hesitation. To me, such faith shows the kind of character and conviction, the kind that spills over into other arenas, that is necessary for such a major leader. In addition, as a student of history, it would be assinine to not accept the seriously positive role that faith has had in shaping the United States as the best country in the world in such a short time.

In my opinion, the thing to focus on is not whether Obama is a Christian or a follower of Christ (of which I do understand the difference) but whether Obama actually has solid convictions instead of wavering theories. If he has not seriously pondered the age-old of question of God to a conclusion, with what political situations might he never find any real answers? As John McCain so often asks: Is he ready to lead?

Not the least of reasons why they played up his faith was because it was in many ways a preemptory defense on claims that he was a Muslim. Now Obama has much more of a faith problem on his hands than such claims, as the current situation is much more damning.

It is my sincere hope that both McCain and Obama can embrace Christ as their personal Savior. To be sure, I have no idea whether they did so.

Obama may call himself a Christian, but his inability to relate at Saddleback is another indicator that he is not actually a follower of Christ. It is an unpleasant truth that we need to get used to. The media is incapable of processing that data point. The only way they can get around it is to presume that McCain lied, not that the Obama narrative is a lie.

This crosses a line, Erick, and it is one that ought not to be crossed.

Who are you to decide whether someone is or is not a follower of Christ? It is precisely this sort of self-righteousness that turns so many people off to the evangelical community in the first place.

The unpleasant truth is that whether Obama is or is not a follower of Christ is between him and Christ. You can disagree with his interpretation of what it means to be a follower of Christ, but that remains your personal point of view, and your personal view alone. And that is a far cry from calling someone “non-Christian”. As if God gave you (or me, or anyone else) that power?

It is sufficient to say you (or evangelicals, or most Christians) disagree with how Obama’s faith seems to impact his personal behavior, or his policies. It is enough to describe his actions and words as not making sense to YOUR worldview and religious beliefs. Don’t cross the line into classifying that which you cannot classify.

A measure of humility in terms of describing what is intensely personal to each and every one of us might do all of us some good.

My friends, I know there has been some concern that I was not completely within the Cone of Silence last Saturday evening. I am now compelled to acknowledge that I have not been forthcoming about an aspect of my life which only a few have known about until now.

You see, last Saturday was not the first time in my life that I have sat in the Cone of Silence, cut off from all contact with the outside world. During my first visit to that Cone, I had time to learn how to understand and interpret the thoughts of both my friends and my foes.

And would the media quit whining? If Sen. Obama had gone along with Sen. McCain to town hall meetings all summer, he would have been better prepared for questions at this point. It’s like they’re blaming the kid who studied hard for “blowing the curve” on a test.

Accusing McCain of “cheating” is - in my view - an attempt to deflect focus away from Obama’s utterly pathetic performance.

It was obvious he didn’t have his teleprompter as he struggled many times to form a coherrent sentence without pausing several times in the same statement saying “…you know…”

He came across as an illiterate teenager from the back alleys of Chicago.

When asked about the most difficult decision he ever had to make in his life, he cited his opposition to the Iraq war.

But as a junior Senator in the IL legislature when the vote was taken to go to war - Obama didn’t have to make any “decision.”

The Straightalk Express steamrolled right over Obama.

I was unsure of McCain but now am convinced that he is the man for the job! I watched the Saddleback Civil Forum in its entirety. And I have made up my mind for sure. McCain gets my vote!

Then, in 1970, they moved us into the big cell. And when we all got to see each other and talk to each other directly, instead of tapping through walls, we had 24 hours a day, seven days a week to talk to each other, and we shared stories. I vaguely recall that story being told, among other stories.”

“I remember it from prison,” Swindle continued. “There were several stories similar to that in which guards — a very few, I might add — showed compassion to the prisoners. It was rare, and I never met one, but some of the guys did.”

As for the people who are questioning McCain’s account, Swindle said, “That’s garbage. These people are desperate.”

So much for that line of attack.

Is the outright admission of loss, of FAILURE, at the Saddleback debate by Obama.

When was the last time you ever saw a politician claim defeat at a debate? Isn’t it always, “Well, we won on this topic…” or “We won because…”? Where is the positive spin?

“We lost because he cheated.”
All I see is “We (Obama) lost.”
Which translates to “Obama failed. Obama is 2nd best.”

I Was Wrong…

AND RICK WARREN WAS RIGHT!

When I first heard about the Saddleback event, I was concerned that it would elevate an undeserving Obama while allowing the candidates to dodge the tough questions. Upon further consideration, I needn’t have been concerned.

Warren was right to invite them both. And it was enough to just let them talk, even though, because of time, there were no follow-ups; McCain got away with saying he opposed his party on torture, even though the debate was whether preventing another attack by scaring the hell out of a terrorist with waterboarding constitutes “torture” in the first place. And Obama got away with many things, such as claiming he’d support merit pay, which the unions will never allow him to do.

Still, Pastor Warren’s format had a simple but brilliant integrity; by asking the exact same questions to both candidates, Warren not only provided apples-to-apples comparisons for undecided voters, he exposed the Lop-Sided Media for the frauds they’ve become. A balanced press wouldn’t toss softballs to their favorite, while slinging hardballs at Republicans. The My-Left-Foot, Thigh, Calf, Ankle, Hip and Pinky-Media was the real loser.

But not the only one. McCain wiped the floor with Teleprompter Man. Period. It still doesn’t mean Maverick is the greatest conservative ever–sadly, he’s not. But, man, is that floor shiny!

And for the record, your Honor, Barack Obama isn’t qualified to carry Clarence Thomas’ jock strap. In fact, he’s not qualified to carry the jock strap of the accountant who does the books for the auto mechanic who fixes the car of the guy who delivers Chinese take-out to Clarence Thomas’ house.
