BREAKING: NBC News Says It Will Not Be Bayh or Kaine

image

From the NBC News transcript:

MITCHELL: all pointing to biden. at home and under wraps today surrounded by family who have been gathering all week, even on the eve of the announcement not yet given the official word, sources say, unlike the other top contenders, virginia governor tim kaine and indiana senator evan bayh.

SEN. EVAN BAYH: it’s not mine to report.

MITCHELL: sources say they were told they’re out of the running.

Comedy GOLD if it is Joe Biden.

the more impatient people get. Barack’s not making very many friends right now.

According to KJL at The Corner, this could go overnight.

….I mean I wouldn’t put it past the One to use a little obfuscation at this point. I mean we are talking about an Alinsky acolyte.

Now with this in mind and conflicting “confirmations”, could it be possible that Obama has sent out different txt msgs to different outlets in order to get away from the Ayers issue, or the new Rezko add. I don’t trust him, not one bit, and for some reason my gut is telling me that this is all coordinated and something is being hidden. Like toilets flushing before a raid.

Or I could just be really crazy today.

    Take your pick.

Build it up and then the let down (for people who inevitably won’t get the news they’d hoped for)

  • ConservaGeek

Obama has made several mistakes here.

    • Friday, Saturday, or Sunday is when you release a story that you want to bury, like John Edwards’ affair, not one you want to trumpet, like the selection of a Veep.

    • The actual announcement will have to top the Superbowl in order to avoid an anticlimactic reaction of “we waited all that time to hear that?”

    • As Hannity pointed out today, if there is any opening for criticism of the Veep choice–and there almost certainly will be, all the candidates have flaws–such criticism will be aired during the coronation…er…convention. That’s going to spoil the Mile-High Party to some extent.

    • With all the anticipation and delay, Obama has some people wondering if he simply can’t make a decision.

I’m sure there are more mistakes, but those are the big ones that come to my mind right now.

  • Jeff_Emanuel

    So please, spare me.

  • RedFox84

There’s no point of announcing on a weekend, so doesn’t it stand to reason he’ll simply make the announcement at the convention?

  • ConservaGeek

The only reasons I can think of are to keep goofs #2 and 4 on my list above from getting worse.

…today on Fox News, Neil Cavuto was joking about it, saying that Fox has camera crews covering the camera crews that are watching the camera crews!

    coughs

Looks like it went unheeded, as it was suggested it would be.

  • McCain08

But what about the Obama-Bayh bumper stickers?? I think that was your answer right there.

  • dld1717

If Obama chooses Biden I say Bring It ON!

Biden probably helps Obama in PA the most.

    His negatives:

Comes off so arrogant; Chris Matthews Older
His mouth his stealing other peoples works

  • BigGator5

    I no longer care.

However, I would like to know where that evil looking dude came from and if I can have a copy of that unedited image.

  • Jeff_Emanuel

But in all honesty, I’m just waiting for that text message like everybody else.

  • c17wife

    two chartered flights from Midway.
One landed in New Castle, DE, the other in Norfolk, VA.
Too funny. Maybe Barack is going to hook Biden and Kaine up via satellite and have them do rock-paper-scissors, best 2 of 3 and then have his man. Lord knows he isn’t capable of making a lasting, coherent decision himself.

In a sick sort of way, this does remind me of OJ and the Bronco.

    let’s keep up RS standards

hint: when Obama picks a vp, the earth will still turn…

  • gamecock

    irrelevant.

    substance over procedure

all that matters over this is that Obama shows incompetence re timing

Come on GC it’s friday night…we are having fun….and isn’t it bad form to ask all of us to talk about something else without providing some delicious diary for us to discuss and ponder over?

    I hope we’re still friends…;^)

The funny part that a lot of RS folks are missing is how Obama is having some fun toying with NBC et al. He just knows that they are so in the tank for him that he can mess with them and toy with them and not suffer one little bit for it. He is loving the power trip he is going on, and it seems like most people are missing the amusement angle.

    You, of course, GET IT.

  • gamecock

may be a partial affirmation of your point as one of the 6 essays I have in the tank does concern the media and how we should not let them control events, BUT

given that Erick devoted a whole diary, BREAKING no less, to what NBC says, on an issue, the timing of which is quite inconsequential,

shouldn’t your comment be aimed at

    Erick?

    ps

Just got home from happy hour extended in search on wife #3.

GC tired, but, I will write 2-5 awesome columns this weekend.

for The Big O. Of course, he might have just picked a name out of a hat, or had Michelle choose. She’s really Obama’s No. 1, any way.

The Saddleback rout proved Obama is incapable of coming to important decisions. Why should this be any different? Why would Obama start now?

If he or his staff is playing NBC for fools, they might just stop covering him like he is the Second Coming. That’d be a disaster for his campaign, which is based on being the darling of the MoveOnMedia.

I’ll add that with a home state rally at/near MLK jr. historical sites would be expected and play up the underlying Proud to be American (for the first time!) mantra —
“(We) are the ones we’ve been waiting for”

Not being able to amass the minimum required +5% poll lead going into the DNC convention (despite the Keep Hype Alive media drive); this is my current prediction on best possible VP running mates, accounting for Obama08′s “walking around money” Operation BUY VOTES (c.f. Philidelphia) and atypical obsfucation of voting records (cheating/multi-ballots/court challenges, and the ilk) by the Leftists.

Regarding grad’ student Obama’s “summer abroad” trip and specifically the 200,000 (or 20,000) in attendance to hear him slick talk his way on the Citizen of the World (? 4th Reich ?) theme — recall that prior to snObama’s Berlin speech, he
    a) snubbed visiting wounded warriors because it would be viewed as “political” (Mr. “Big Ears” Sensitive was “worried” over what others would think instead of DOING THE RIGHT THING)
    b) the crowd was prior whooped up by free beer and TWO concerts (what does it take to get German youth out on a warm sunny day?) -and-
    c) previous historical attempts to whip Germans into a POLITICAL frenzy involving thumping tempo and beer occured in Munich — courtesy of the supreme being Adolf Hitler

Should Obama announce former GA Sen. Sam Nunn, Georgia comes into play FAST on the plurality count. Bob Barr polls at 8 to 16% depending on which way the wind and free media blow. The only other lgical politico Obama can co-opt into a losing campaign is Sen. Bayh of Indiana (former two-term governor; early HRC supporter). The geographic Illinois/Indiana breadbasket team will then face shaving another 1-2% loss on the popular vote.

Based on that alone, here’s the electoral count:

    *McCain/Palin 50%/EC= 290
    *Obama/Nunn 46%/EC= 248
    *Barr/Root 3%/EC= 0
    *Other 1%

If it’s DE (and PA’s 3rd) Senator Biden, I’ll be the one doing a jig around the house — oh what fun it’ll be… two plagarizing speechifying Senators, and the more experienced one telling ALL that The One *is not ready *
