The more I listen to O’Riley, i think he is out for his own self aggrandizement than anything else. Switched to the Fox News Radio network on my XM and they were doing the O’riley Radio Factor, and he is like they both lost, I may have to vote for Nader.

Dude really, Bill O’riley adds nothing to anything with this election or politics in general.

funny/sad all at the same time. Her parents must have been proud. And you say she is an Obamabot? Well isn’t that a hoot.

Since this is an open thread, I’ve had this nagging thought that I’d like to share. Normally I’m not a consiracy guy, but, well…

It seems to me that there were certainly people who realized a year or two ago that the economy of the West was pretty shaky; too much reliance on the sub-prime mortgages given to people who were already living beyond thier means putting us into a situation where a rise in the cost of a basic staple would result in a wave of foreclosures, and the so-called leverage would amplify this. I’m not saying that I was one of the people who knew this, but the fact that McCain tried to reel in Fred and Fan two years ago, and President Bush tried six years ago, indicates that this wasn’t really a surprise to some people in this country.

The reason I mention all of this is that it seems that what finally knocked down what turns out to have been a house of cards, seems to have been the increase in oil prices over the last few years. And yet, at just the time that the effect is finally being felt, the prices of crude oil are going down, and down fast, even though the dollar is certainly not gaining in strength.

Now, suppose that our essential vulnerability was noticed by some people in ANOTHER country, one that didn’t like the US or the western economy, and who recognized that they could manipulate the cost of a basic staple in the US without directly interacting with the US economy.

So, here’s my question: is it possible that some foreign power manipulated worlwide oil prices via the futures market, in order to try to trigger a worldwide economic downturn that would hurt the US more than any other country?

I can think of at least three countries that would have both the motive and (possibly) the means to pull this off, and it would explain the free-fall in oil prices at a time when I would have expected just the opposite.

This isn’t to say that I’m not disgusted with both the American people and our elected “leaders” for getting into this situation in the first place, but I’m just wondering if it hasn’t been used by one or more of our enemies to put us in a weakened position.

Early voting is a cancer that will eat the heart out of the Republic. How hard is it to get your tail to the polling booth on the first Tuesday of November? Early voting, required mailed ballots (Washington St) and the abuse of absentee ballot requests are all invitations to voting fraud.

  • GregInFla

This is actually a serious question. Here in Florida, we have a lot of, let’s say, older Americans (and a few aliens, but that’s off topic). People die every day here. If a person submits an absentee ballot (yes, death would be the absolute ultimate reason for being absent) or votes early (but not often), and then dies before Election Day Nov 4, 2008, does that person’s vote count? Remember I think the rules are that you have to be (note present tense) 18 years old or older on Election Day to vote. Dead people are “was”, not “be”. For this example, assume that absentee ballots are in fact counted because the race is close, so the vote would count if valid.

maybe she will be “unable to locate” her polling place on a local map. However, there’s probably an ACORN community organizer that’ll gladly give her a lift.

Women, lately, it seems are freaked out about having to register for selective service under Obama. I am hearing this a lot lately.

Is this a red herring or truly an issue?

  • awtherfrd

Why is it that all of the supposed conservative elites are looking as though they actually want McCain to loose. I swear President Bush is doing every thing in his power to get Obama elected. Fred Barnes sounds like he might just turn in his GOP card.

Funny thing is we did not get that memo and neither did Palin. Look out Obama.

What made you think that I was a troll in the first place. I just think O’reilly is out for himself, and right now has a good thing with his, “I’m looking out for the folks.”, bulls–t. I think when that train stops he would just as quickly be suckling at the tip of Obama’s d—.
