Farcical MSM Spin About Jennifer Brunner’s Plan to Ignore the Law

The Toledo Blade gets today’s award for rigorous media adherence to Democratic talking points with this article titled “Ohio’s Brunner seeks aid from high court” with the subtitle “Rights of about 200,000 Ohio voters rest on justices’ decision.”

The “aid” implies some form of relief for a wrong. That wrong would be the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, which ordered Brunner to comply with federal law.

The “rights of about 200,000 Ohio voters” ignores the rampant voter fraud by ACORN and the fact that, from the article, “About 200,000 of 666,000 voters who have registered since Jan. 1 have records that don’t match.”

Here is what the article leaves out: Brunner has done this in the past, as did Secretary of State Ken Blackwell before her. This year, Brunner defied federal law and ignored her past practices. Now that the election is upon us, she’s claiming she doesn’t have time.

Running out the clock on yourself really is no defense to ignore the law.

But kudos to the Toledo Blade for failing to point out the facts. No wonder their subscriber base is dwindling and ad revenue is plunging.

LBJ, Chicago, Kennedy, ACORN, W. Virginia, southern democrats blocking ballot security, Florida and hanging chad….naaaah democrats never cheat.

  • kllyhlls

Or at least that was my first impression. I read an article there where they basically trashed “Joe the Plumber” like they were a diary on Kos.

As an (unfortunate) subscriber, I’ve seen how the blade leans far to the left. Reading the editorial page makes me ill some days.

So does this mean if I were completely without scruples I can just drive down to Ohio & register now? Or that Arnold can run in 2012? Does the law mean anything anymore? This is really pathetic.

Registration is closed… especially for Canadians :)

My understanding is that SCOTUS simply denied the Ohio’s GOP standing in court. Basically saying you aren’t allowed to bring this suit. Sort of begs the question just who is allowed to question the OhiO SS’s decisions. Here’s the key point

Instead, they said they were granting Brunner’s request because it appears that the law does not allow private entities, like the Ohio GOP, to file suit to enforce the provision of the law at issue.

Just goes to show how important it is to win the down ticket races.

Clearly not all of the 200,000 registrations in question will need to an illegal vote, but I wonder just how many will.

This wasn’t a crazy ruling, and if the Court had allowed this suit, it could have served as bad precedent for other areas where non state actors don’t have standing to file suit.

About 200,000 of 666,000 voters who have registered in Ohio since Jan. 1 have records that don’t match. Brunner has said the discrepancies most likely stem from innocent clerical errors rather than fraud but has set up a verification plan.

Clerical error? Almost 1/3rd are clerical errors? Does he expect anyone to believe that?

The civil rights of Ohio citizens are compromised by this blatant behavior by the SoS of Ohio.

  • Fermi

I found this confusing as well. Apparently the court ruled that the GOP couldn’t bring the suit. So who exactly is allowed to challenge a public official who is ignoring Federal law? Can an average citizen sue (since apparently the GOP suit isn’t good enough)?

Someone has to hold this woman accountable for the rule of law.

  • Ithk4myslf

    strict interpretation of the Constitution?

no private party has standing to sue, so it would probably have to be the government at some level that would have to sue.

to data entry from hand written forms? Specially ones that were filled out in the street on clipboard by people that are in hurry or dealing with some of the losers that Acorn hired. So yeah, I can believe 30%.

Obviously the whole system needs to be re-engineered. Oregon seems to have hit on one that work reasonably well with its vote by mail elections.

It doesn’t have voter registration at all: Just show up!
