Friends, tomorrow is the day we’ve been focused on for so long. Let’s make it a great day. Let’s reignite Operation Chaos.
As you know, the media relies on exit polling to formulate their news coverage of Election Day. Likewise, the campaigns make estimations as the day wears on via exit polls. Lastly, in preparing for the next election’s polling, some pollsters will use exit polling to help them. We know how well that’s gone this year.
I have a hearty suggestion for all of us: seek out exit pollsters. Find them. Be willing to engage in the exit polling. And lie. Tell the exit pollsters you voted for Barack Obama. Tell them you are a diehard liberal. But tell them you voted for Barack Obama.
Then go home and watch the media realize there is something badly wrong with their data and make them have to watch the results come in with the rest of us.
Let’s give one last hurrah to Operation Chaos.
Update: Jim Geraghty advises me against doing this on the theory that the exits are going to be leaked early and will show a big Obama lead. Here’s the thing though: this happens every four years. Kerry and Gore both thought they had it in the bag as a result of the early leaks. So let’s fire back up Operation Chaos and throw the early leaks and raw data into complete and utter confusion.

I'm in.

jakee308 Monday, November 3rd at 4:49PM EST (link)I would never be one to pooh-pooh any action that makes the media look as stupid as they are but I don’t think it would be a good idea to do this.
1. it would play into the media’s desire to discourage voters in other states.
2. it would add to the perception of a “stolen” election if McCain wins.
Let them inflate the numbers for obama themselves (like we know they will). I’m sure they’ll do a good job of that. better to tell them the truth or at least just ignore them.

jcheney Monday, November 3rd at 4:51PM EST (link)Funny you should say this because I was hoping an exit pollster approaches me so I could do that exact thing. Not that it will matter much for the Presidential race, since Washington State is pure blue. It will be fun to mess around with the Governor race, however.
This is friggin' awesome!
Shayelyn Monday, November 3rd at 4:51PM EST (link)I already early voted (in FL) so I can’t participate but I have been saying for months that if I was ever asked by an exit polster, I would lie like a rug. It was kinda fun four years ago watching the looks on the faces of the MSM when they couldn’t figure out why the votes weren’t matching the poles. Then of course because exit poles are ALWAYS right, a slew of made-for-cable shows pop up claiming elections were rigged/stolen. They must believe that if they make the poles reflect what they want them to be, it must be true. I love it when REAL TRUTH triumphs!

I Couldn't Disagree More
DavidSage Monday, November 3rd at 5:06PM EST (link)As much as I would like to see the media disgraced even further, I think it’s like cutting off our nose to spite our face.
If early poll numbers come in, and it looks like Obama has lopsided numbers, that will shut down voting for our side around the country, much like it did in 1980 when Jimmy Carter conceded the race early to Reagan. Democrats down-ticket were wiped out in many raced that still had open voting. I really don’t want to risk that just to “punk” the MSM.
Also, I do believe Republicans always do better than the polls indicate because we’re disgusted with them in general, and we tend to hang up the phone or avoid talking with them altogether. I understand this sentiment, but it’s counter-productive.
I actually believe this is what makes Republican office holders in general so timid. If you’re constantly told the public is against you, a rational politician that wants to keep his job is going to “go to the center” in order to reflect the public will. It also emboldens Democrats because they always believe the public supports their side.
My advice to conservatives is to take every opportunity to give pollsters honest information so our voices can be better represented in the MSM.
No matter what happens, the MSM has lost whatever credibility they have. Instead, we need to figure out how to best play a losing hand when it comes to dealing with a biased media.
Even though the MSM is doing poorly financially and the public is more aware of their biases, they are unfortunately the main source of information for the public at large, and will be for the coming decades. Just ridiculing and embarrassing the media may feel good, but it’s not a good long-term solution to win the hearts and souls of Americans.

Operation Chaos is still going, anyway.
Steph C Monday, November 3rd at 5:56PM EST (link)A lot of Republicans switched their registrations to vot efor Hillary after McCain won the Republican nomination, remember? They can’t switch back until after the election. They’re counted in all those new registrations that have the pollster weighting the polls so heavily with the Democrat sample.
Now, there are not set numbers of how many actually switched but it’s still in play. In addition to that, ACORN has registered some 1.3 million, so they claim, which is also factored into the weighting of the samples. We know that at least 40% of those ACORN registrations are bogus, so…
When you looked at the weighting versus the percentages of Reps and Independents, Obama doesn’t really have a lead at all. Obama is not getting that many independents supporting him and there is still a huge number claiming “undecided.”
This thing isn’t over by a long shot. We just need to get the voters out there.

2) It’s dishonest and a lie. See the Ten Commandments.
3) It’s counterproductive. Win or lose there’s value in having an accurate survey of the electorate during an election. Four years ago we learned that voters do care about moral values. What will we learn this year? Gotta be honest with the pollsters to find out.

Yeah, so let’s have it that the exit polls show Obama winning by 10 points in Virginia and Indiana- that will DEFINITELY make the Republicans voting three hours later in Colorado and Nevada stay in line!!

Next election
John Scott Monday, November 3rd at 6:08PM EST (link)I’m not sure that this is a good idea tomorrow, but I was telling a friend today that I think we should start planning for this in the next election cycle.
In the last couple of presidential elections and in this one, the polls have been greatly skewed to the democrats (erroneously so, as we’ve seen in the last two presidential elections). I continually wonder how much of a self-fulfilling prophecy this becomes. It certainly becomes fodder for the leftist media to proclaim the winner in advance.
So, lets completely remove their credibility. We start telling conservatives now to answer any polling question as a liberal. We shout from the roof tops that we’re gonna do it.
Then the polls in the next election are a completely unbelievable 98% for the democrat, and everyone knows it is bunk… and completely ignores them.

Very bad idea!
Lords86 Monday, November 3rd at 6:10PM EST (link)The lynchpin to a possible McCain victory in this election is turnout. It is ridiculous to take an action “for kicks” with the unintended, but clearly foreseeable, result of discouraging OUR turnout. This idea should be shelved immediately. Instead of seeking out an exit pollster, seek out your neighbor and take him or her to the polls to vote for Senator McCain. That’s far more effective and would actually win an election.
Foolish and juvenile

AceInTX Monday, November 3rd at 6:46PM EST (link)I love the idea if it was done correctly…The only way this could work is if it’s done by so many people that the Media would know they were being sandbagged. The key above all else is that Limbaugh, Ingraham, Hannity and other talk radio personalities make this strategy *THE * focus of their programs tomorrow. Operatives should be on all the network and cable news stations letting the press know this is being done. The idea would be to telegraph the punch and make sure the press are so scared of the possibility that they will not report their exit polls.
The other element would be that Conservatives need to know to ignore the exit polls and turn out no matter what or it could backfire in a big way!

Here’s the thing: If McCain wins, he’s probably going to win ugly. By “winning ugly” I mean that he will lose the popular vote and squeak out an electoral college victory. I do not expect Obama supporters to appreciate the wisdom of the Founding Fathers when they created the electoral college system. I expect them to scream “Kill whitey!!” and start burning stuff.
The MSM has already done everything they can to set the stage for the Obamanuts to claim the election was stolen if The One goes down. Let’s not add to that particular conflagration through juvenile stunts.
Government is evil.
It’s a necessary evil, but it is an evil. Any application of government should be done in a somber fashion, as it is a failure of our humanity that we couldn’t handle it as individual citizens. Deciding whether to apply government to solve a problem should be considered on the same level as burning down an orphanage full of children to solve a problem. Deciding to tax should be thought of like deciding to stab an innocent man for our own gain. Anyone who celebrates government is a ghoulish wretch who must be ostracized from polite society.

JLenardDetroit Monday, November 3rd at 9:26PM EST (link)Tim Kaine (Gov VA) had set the stage (one week out from Election night) on the News circuit as he tried to convince the Nations Voters that this race is over and Virginia is going to go Blue this election.

Within an hour or hour and a half we’ll know how Virginia is going.” (Tim Kaine - News Sunday with Chris Wallace) “[Virginia goes Obama] I just think the path to 270 for Senator McCain is almost impossible!”
>
Virginia is an important State in the MSM narrative (the “Bandwagon” effect, a play on/with Voters Psychology) for Election night in that, like with the Polls, they (MSM) want to dispirit, dishearten, and suppress Voters that would be voting for McCain by putting forth the notion that the Race for the Presidency is long over ’so why would you bother to go vote?’ This site (RS) is full of Diaries/reasons why you cannot allow yourself and, potentially more importantly, “soft-voters” for McCain/Palin to fall for it and give up (drag your McCain supporting friends to the Voting Booth kicking and screaming if need be).
The MSM is quick to project/call/report when a State goes for the Democrat, Blue, but waits to call States for a Republican candidate! Easy to see every election. They rushed to call FL before the Polls were even closed in the western counties of FL to try and effect that out-come in Gore/Bush - tell me who tried to steal the vote again??
The MSM will call (really, has always called) the Blue States as quickly as possible while stalling on the Red States in the hopes of instituting the “Bandwagon effect,” suppress Republican turnout, etc… No more is this true than during the reporting of Mid-West States. Any “Swing State” (and as in this discussion, a State not generally considered a “Swing State” they can play up with greater value/weight) that goes Blue they promote, any Red they delay reports or report as “not enough data.” You will see this again this election WITHOUT FAIL/DOUBT!!!
The law should be changed, to STOP the MSM, and/or anyone else (including campaigns), from trying to shade the votes in other States by reporting “exit-polls” and “projections” or out-right guesses. This can be easily accomplished by FORBIDDING the announcement of Election Results, including any “Polls,” “Projections,” or other means, that indicates the “out-come” or “perceived out-come” of any Locality, State, or National, Race or ballot-initiative, until 3 hours after scheduled voting places have Closed.
This could be tailored to just the contiguous 48 States, could even weight it to be 3 hours east of the Mississippi States and 1 hour west of the Mississippi, and the intent would be (more or less) the same. The point is to stop campaigns, the MSM, etc… from attempting to suppress or otherwise shift/influence election out-comes.
Again, we have been seeing this in high gear to shape, rather than report, the election by the way MSM presents Polls and its General coverage (of course). One thing that is shaping up to allow the MSM to “pretend” the see what had been adequate trend in the past to call a State is by ignoring the Early Voting that is occurring. They can easily allow those DISPROPORTIONATELY CAST DEMOCRAT VOTES to be counted in early, ignore them, make the call, and later recant (if needed) if incorrect and plead EXCUSES that they were just mistaken and didn’t really know that the Early Voting was skewing the models/programs they use to compile samplings and make their determinations. There IS NO EXCUSE, as Early Voting is all over their newscasts, but they’ll conveniently not factor it on Election night - because it doesn’t suit the (most outlets) MSM agenda.
It has been shown that there CAN BE (not always a guarantee) that a “Bradley effect” occurs. Likewise, however, there can be the inverse, in that some may be planning on voting or Obama (in some aspects, in relation to being convinced by the Murtha type comments) and not willing to state such because of their demographic (IMO, much less a phenomena, but just my opinion I have no study to cite). Is this the “White Guilt effect?” or is this something different?
Beyond that, back to the relationship of the “Bandwagon effect.” Part of the supposed “Bradley effect” can possibly be explained, if proper study done, to my point that some may stay home from the polls if they’d been convinced of the out-come and convince themselves to not go out and vote. Also explains how/why so many polls fail/backfire, if you think about it.
One such explanation I have heard, makes much sense (needs more study to see if the theory is truly a plausible explanation), is that Democrats have become “more likely” to be willing to speak with the Exit Poller. More particularly, a voter that is/has a vote for the Candidate that is the MSM projected leader/winner. This explains PA in the Democratic Primary and how the Pre-election and Exit polls did not jive! This too, at least in part, may explain what had previously appeared as (been deemed) “Bradley effect,” but rather was/is another failure in the manner Polls are setup/conducted. Just like with any Computer program, (GIGO) garbage data in and you get garbage results out!

Tennyson Monday, November 3rd at 10:55PM EST (link)We should be doing exactly the opposite.
Seek out the EXIT POLLSTERS and tell them you voted for McCain. Make them take your vote. Surround them and get anyone like minded to do the same.
I’m stunned by the suggestion. I mean the thing that is most likely to lose us a close election tomorrow is media driven voter suppression and you want to throw them a bone?
This could lead to early calls for Obama that swing the Central and MT timezones…

So you think the base will get the trick and turn out in droves if there are huge leads by Obama helped by an operation chaos? NOT.
Obama and MSM want huge early leads in exit polls to validate their polls to discourage voters.

A cult of personality arises when a country’s leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image, often through unquestioning flattery and praise.[1] Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships.
I've already voted early but I am taking some cookies to the poll workers in the morning.

Exactly! How are the polls correct now or anytime in the last 40 years?
phred Monday, November 3rd at 11:19PM EST (link)The vote is the final call. The hundreds of polls that have been reported up to this point will show an error in the favor of the Dems. So how is this minor skew any worse than what has been reported up until now?

Uhm...not good
braininahat Monday, November 3rd at 11:58PM EST (link)I think this is a terrible idea.
I think if the media starts reporting an early overwhelming lead for Obama, it might cause some less enthused McCain supporters to stay home and not wait in that long line after work.
