Operation Leper

RedState is pleased to announce it is engaging in a special project: Operation Leper.

We’re tracking down all the people from the McCain campaign now whispering smears against Governor Palin to Carl Cameron and others. Michelle Malkin [has the details](http://michellemalkin.com/2008/11/05/the-mccain-campaigns-classless-cowards/

.

We intend to constantly remind the base about these people, monitor who they are working for, and, when 2012 rolls around, see which candidates hire them. Naturally then, you’ll see us go to war against those candidates.

It is our expressed intention to make these few people political lepers.

They’ll just have to be stuck at CBS with Katie’s failed ratings.

Initial list:

  1. Nicolle Wallace

Note: I’ve deleted McKinnon. I trust the source, but I’m getting very strong denials from other people I trust and McKinnon is very adamantly denying it. We’ve confirmed the other two.

Note: Press reports about Steve Schmidt were wrong and I have thus deleted him from the list.

P.S. - Did I ever tell you how RedState was able to stock Gov. Palin’s campaign plane with twenty of these?. We were glad to. And we were glad not to mention it at the time. We are rooting for Sarah Palin. Don’t make us add you to our list. Do you really want to be next to Kathleen Parker in the leper colony?

Interesting.

I’m kind of surprised Fox was the one to break the Africa/NAFTA thing, though. Are they trying to kneecap her, for some reason?

Going to press with an inside scoop....

The only

pwest Wednesday, November 5th at 11:01PM EST (link)

thing I got right about this stinking election is that the blame would be on Palin.

Folks, she is a Conservative, and is a rising star, so she must be destroyed.

“Also,” to quote Sarah, if she didn’t know all the things they say she didn’t know who does that say more about, her or McCain!

So, the Evangelica wing to the Party is now being beat down. Is this really the direction, Republicans want to go?

Pam

He could have said it better.

GOPPhoenix Wednesday, November 5th at 11:04PM EST (link)

He really cut into her hard, more than was necessary.

He makes it sound like it’s all Palin’s fault. I feel like they’re trying to turn her into a scapegoat for McCain’s loss. It was McCain who picked her, Sarah did her best.

Now THIS...

Taking the fight to ‘them’ who ever and where ever ‘they’ are.

Well done sir!

Good for you Erick.

TheAdmiral Wednesday, November 5th at 11:06PM EST (link)

Any person(s)leaking or making up of any this stuff with the intent of smearing Gov. Palin and her family are a disgrace; to themselves, our movement and our country.

Call them out Erick. They must be exposed.

And on a another note, did anyone notice the chilliness in McCain and Gov. Palin’s ‘embrace’ after his concession speech last night? Even though they (we) had just lost, it sure seemed like an awkward exchange.

Hit hard. Hit fast. Hit often.

Are the allegations true?

liberalrepublican Wednesday, November 5th at 11:08PM EST (link)

If the people leaking are lying, then turn them into lepers.

If they are telling the truth, I have no problem. I want to know if someone is an idiot.

These McCain staffers should aready be blacklisted from working in politics for even being associated with such a lame campaign in the first place. The only job in politics for any of them should be walking Barney Frank’s dog.

If she declines to run in 2012, Palin’s endorsement would be the most sought after one in the primaries.

Some of us on the right they just HATE

… from an anonymous source and without audio or video or any instance of anyone - even Miss Teen South Carolina - ever saying something so stupid? I doubt someone who has been to Mexico and Canada and worked out a natural gas pipeline that travels through one of those countries doesn’t know what NAFTA is. She’s been to Kuwait as the CINC of the Alaskan National Guard, and you think she didn’t know Africa was a continent?

I thought Obama was dumb, but I also know he knows there are 50 states, not 57. FOX thinks I’m really, really dumb, though.

The only thing that makes sense is the powers-that-be who put Obama in office are a ruthless machine, and they will only be more powerful in four years. Kevin Welsh Wednesday, November 5th at 11:28PM EST (link)

If this is rumors at its worst I think we can see why McCain lost the election. There were too many people worried about their own power rather than the strength of the country.

Regardless of what Palin’s abilities are, the path to reclaiming our positions in the government can be found in the 1980 Presidential and 1994 congressional elections. Candidates who communicate the principles of conservatism to the electorate in a relevant way. Real issues with real passion. That kind of candidate is in the mold of Sarah Palin.

Sounds like she was "setup on the inside"

DaBoogieMan Wednesday, November 5th at 11:29PM EST (link)

during the whole campaign. I find it hard to believe she didn’t know what NAFTA entailed.

We have to remember, this was the McCAIN campaign. We all saw how that ended last night. No wonder she “exited stage left quickly” last night. She looked like she could have spit fire at McCain.

Could this be more Romney operative rumors? Just saying….

I applaud the effort to seek and destroy the rats behind this.

It’s one thing to air a criticsm, but gutting your own team members to score news coverage is just plain bad. Gov. Palin worked hard for the ticket, and she took a lot of hits for the team. She should not now be trashed by disappointed Republicans. John McCain shouldn’t be trashed either. Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment should be dusted off and brought back into custom.

AKBigBoy Wednesday, November 5th at 11:29PM EST (link)

I’m totally on board with this idea. This reeks of positioning for 2012, and the people responsible need to not be trusted with money, votes, or power - ever.

As for the Africa thing - I’ll believe it, when I see the video (after said video has been checked to see if it has been created on a computer or in a studio).

Governor Palin was recognized by the Obama Campaign and the Mainstream Media (but I repeat myself) as the threat she is to them. She represents the antithesis of the modern mythological feminist woman.

She has truly made it on her own (no famous husband), no Ivy League degree, no law degree, God-fearing, Christ-worshipping, faithful to her husband, pro-life, free market, beautiful and unabashed in her beliefs and love of this country.

One of the great things about a loss like this is the opportunity to purge double-dealers and weak-kneed sunshine soldiers. Good bye and Good Riddance.

And simply have a hard time believing some of it.

NAFTA? Africa? Come on, she’s old enough to have actually received an education (particularly with a teacher father) unlike too many today.

The one I found was quite interesting was the “shopoholic” comment. Sorry, when did she have time? The quick dash into Walmart was captured on video and nothing else was?

Ever know a “shopaholic” to be fast? Especially one with their own press entourage?

This all sounds like petty backbiting of some who were likely called on their BS by Palin!

I applaud the effort

clintonformccain Wednesday, November 5th at 11:35PM EST (link)

The “unnamed sources” gambit is why I finally had to stop watching and reading political coverage.

BTW, note that most of the slams on Palin are rooted in the fact that she’s a woman. The real story of the 2008 election is the disgusting treatment of female candidates, largely by the media.

I thought I had seen the most disgusting thing ever when John Kerry used Mary Cheney’s sexual preference as a weapon in a televised debate. But, the attacks on Palin’s pregnancy set an even more stunning standard for ugliness, IMO.

If I were the Republicans, I would make the fair treatment of women candidates an issue.

Jeff,

liberalrepublican Wednesday, November 5th at 11:38PM EST (link)

What troubles me is that it’s easy for me to believe.

I heard her explain how the media was threatening the government’s free speech rights, her take on the role of the VP and the SNL/Couric interview.

She did work hard for the campaign. She is a good and decent person. She did take shots unfairly. She is a magnificent speaker.

But she was in over her head.

“Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. … including extensive freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market or mixed economy”

Romney is my guess

clintonformccain Wednesday, November 5th at 11:38PM EST (link)

Yes. This has Romney written all over it.

Add Peggy Noonan, Kevin Madden, David Brooks

alvinbovay Wednesday, November 5th at 11:38PM EST (link)

Lepers #1, #2, #3 in my book.

Noonan - If she would ever stop looking down at the table when she speaks on Morning Joe, she would realize that trying to fit in with the “cool kids” is never going to happen. Yeah, she is a great, intelligent writer. But, she tried to impale Sarh Palin every chance she got. Sarah wasn’t “cosmopolitan enough”, not “flashy” enough for Peggy. (Good lines at the RNC, Rudy G.)

Madden - Romney’s CNN henchman. I wouldn’t trust this guy as far as I could toss him in the Delaware River. He was a longkniver before the Palin pick and did his best for his patron every time he was on the air. His glassy stare, weak answers and debate techniques makes me wonder what Romney saw in the first place. Except a fellow good looking guy.

David Brooks - Weanie in high school playing a weanie on TV. He’s smarter than the rest of us, dontcha’ know? His appearances on Charlie Rose, in particular, were self-satisfying and self-gratifying. Nobody knows what they are doing, particulary Sarah, according to David. She went to more the one college, didn’t David tell you? He consistently spoke of her as a buffoon in lowest sense. As if she had no intelligence whatsoever, couldn’t use three syllable words and barely knew how to write her own name. Brooks is the worst of the bunch. Why? Because he knows his golden placement as “the Conservative” at the NY Times gives him entre’ into every corner of the media: radio, TV, Books, you name it. And along with this, access to anyone he wants and the power to play God. Smartest man in the world, just ask him.

BTW, Evan Thomas just ripped Sarah Palin on the clothes bit while with John Meachem on Charlie Rose. Jake Tapper also announced as ABC News’ Chief White House Correspondent. (That will be interesting).

Maybe you are right...

liberalrepublican Wednesday, November 5th at 11:41PM EST (link)

Palin was the reason McCain ONLY lost by 6%...

Who fired up the previously disspirited social conservatives and got them to the polls?

Who caused the campaign offices to suddently have volunteers?

Who drew crowds in the tens of thousands and had the most-watched convention speech by a VP since… ever?

Whose addition to the ticket caused the only poll lead McCain ever had this summer/fall?

It was her. Without Palin the election results would have looked more like 1964, rather than 1992. The cowardly anonymous bad-mouthing and finger-pointing has no place here. People get cranky when they lose, but that’s no excuse for these folks. Our 2012 candidates and eventual nominee will be well-advised to avoid the “lepers” that Red State identifies. in Alaska who’d do her own shopping; it’s one of the perks, albeit an illicit one, to have a staffer do that sort of thing for you.

It was a standing joke in the Executive Branch when someone would leave to take a job with the Legislature or in the Governor’s Office that we’d tell them that we’d see them pushing a cart at Costco for somebody.

Gov. Palin does like to be pretty and wants things her way, but she’s not stupid. Most Alaskans would stand in a Lower 48 shopping mall and vibrate because they couldn’t deal with the overchoice. Alaska stores have two items; the stuff you don’t like and the stuff you have to order - and pay the air freight.

I respect the issue of life as being the philosophical core the Republican party, even if I am pro-choice. I would like to see the country move toward a culture of life, and this is one goal which even intellectuals of the left could come to respect. Republicans must stick to their principles. Amen to that–“Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment should be dusted off and brought back into custom.” Operation Leper is akin to the accountability of the 11th Commandment enforced on 1966 California Gubernatorial candidates. Anyone violating the 11th Commandment (i.e., making personal attacks rather than substantive debate of the issues) should be treated as a leper. I only wish Operation Leper had been implemented two years ago before we all collectively trashed the Republican candidates during the primaries. Personal attacks (including accusations against other Republican operatives and candidates based merely on rumors) should be banned. I challenge Erick to take Operation Leper a step further and be proactive as well as reactive to party disloyalty. Implement the 11th as a part of Operation Leper. Go after anyone trashing any fellow republican, not just Governor Palin.

Inept McCain staffers, playing CYA

jonreagan Thursday, November 6th at 12:31AM EST (link)

The idea of McCain staffers assailing Gov. Palin–or anyone else for that matter–is like being called ugly by a frog. This was one of the worst run campaigns in my lifetime, and they’re trying to scapegoat the one person who gave them a realistic chance of winning.

Ops research? On the day before the election, these folks produced some fairly damning statements by BHO relative to the coal industry, in which he promised that energy prices would “skyrocket” in his administration. Great stuff to use in PA/OH/IN….given that Barry gave the speech in April, I only wish we had used it a little earlier.

Stagecraft, advance work? Take a look at the speech Mac gave in Shreveport, LA, on the night that Obama clinched the Democratic nomination, last June. It looked like a poorly done high school production.

Worst of all was day-to-day messaging, strategy, and tactics….especially the brainstorm of suspending the campaign to come back to DC, and the threats to boycott the first debate. Overall, this was the worst run campaign since the Mike Dukakis effort, and that’s saying something.

These anonymous and bogus charges against Gov.Palin are the work of inept staffers who bollixed up a Presidential campaign, and are trying to shift the blame to an effective and charismatic politician, with a rising star. Sarah Palin did a teriffic job as our VP nominee; imagine how she’ll do four years from now with her own team in place, not having to look over her shoulder at a bunch of little backstabbers.

Absolutely

Michael Parrish Thursday, November 6th at 12:35AM EST (link)

she comes from humble roots… you can’t expect her to know everything plus the nuances…

that’s part of her appeal… as well as joe the plumber, et al.

i don’t care that she didn’t know NAFTA was just us… she probably thought… “we have a few something-FTAs in the americas”

on south africa… c’mon, she HAS to know it’s a continent, this is just vile… she’s a devoted christian… all devoted christian understand even the basics of africa because so many missionaries are sent there. the context around this was probably… the country “South Africa” vs. south africa — the southern part of the continent.

she answered the door in a bathrobe? are you kidding me? she was a shopper? oh gosh. you must be joking. she’s a woman! let her do her thing. don’t be shocked when she acts like a woman and not a man.

God bless her. She’s renewed my faith that everyday people can still get elected.

Nuture this relationship and it will pay dividends for decades.

Randy Scheunemann is a starting point

GuyInSD Thursday, November 6th at 12:44AM EST (link)

This guy was apparently fired for having mentioned the campaign staff’s BS. He knows who some of the “anonymous sources” are likely to be.

My guess is that as a foreign policy guy (the side of the campaign that actually seemed to make some sense) he has insights into some of the decisions about what was off-limits to discuss (e.g., Wright, etc).

Stop This

dld1717 Thursday, November 6th at 12:44AM EST (link)

Folks please our party is being destroyed and we are talking about this? Shame on Fox for piece its over what is point now? Media is still trying to destroy Palin

Palin will make a better name for herself (and she is going to be watched on everything) and can only get better in future

What happened in this campaign is done we must learn from it and move on. Palin wants this for us.

Make 5 dollar donation to her Governor Campaign then cause u know the Dems are going to raise a tone of money against her

Who is the audience?

casel21 Thursday, November 6th at 12:47AM EST (link)

Who do Brooks, Noonan, et al write for? Is Brooks the interpreter liberal NYT readers for us aborigines?

These people have delusions that they are trend-setters or first principle enunciators. They are effete kabitzers. Trend setters are people that actually do something like win an election, govern a state.

(I hear Carl Cameron is onto that coffee-mug story.)

I think the reason McCain isn't:

oneman Thursday, November 6th at 12:50AM EST (link)

coming to the rescue is because it is true. The whole campaign seemed to be little more than a cluster F@#* with constant reports of tensions between Palin and McCains advisers. That being said, it shouldn’t be getting out like this.
I’m not sure if Gov. Palin helped McCain more or hurt him more in the election. As judged by this site and all news reports the right wing of the republicans love her and she definitely solidified the base, however her perception among moderate and liberal republicans, not to mention independents wasn’t very good. To me McCain was damned if he did, and damned if he didn’t pick her.
I think it will be very difficult for Gov. Palin to ever be seen as a viable canidate for President in 2012 or beyond. First impressions are hard to overcome, and their just aren’t enough votes from the right alone to win anything, although it would be easier for her to run to the center than it was for McCain who was trying to run both ways.

Can we all agree this was never Romney people

dskinner11 Thursday, November 6th at 12:54AM EST (link)

McCain’s people hate Romney and wouldn’t want to help him at all.

Last week a bunch of people jumped all over Romney because they thought he was the one behind the anti-Palin stories. All of that was based on an unsourced story from an anti-Romney publication.

Some people in this thread are ridiculous enough to believe the Romney people infiltrated McCain’s inner circle to plant these rumors. Let’s move beyond Romney Derangement Syndrome and realize this never had anything to do with him.

Romney was a good soldier and did everything the campaign asked and more.

nogyro35 Thursday, November 6th at 12:55AM EST (link)

You can tell Palin felt she was holding up the campaign. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure what states McCain secured for the ticket, besides Arizona.

McCain might have lost the entire south without the religious conservatives she brought on board. Tuesday night watching the numbers I’m thinking Obama takes 48 states if Palin was not on the R ticket.

They didn’t come close in any blue state a Moderate at the top of the ticket was supposed to have a chance at.

dld1717 Thursday, November 6th at 12:58AM EST (link)

I think Fey thing destroyed her. Sadly, woman attacking other woman are the worse and Palin being so attractive is another negative too many. She is damed if she does and damned is she don’t

I think many on left see a lot in Palin they hated in Bush: they view them as stupid, folksy, too religious, and the fact she was hunter even got them more angry

All those Halloween costumes of her this year were not fans of her they were mocking her

What bothers me is that you believe it.

Darin_H Thursday, November 6th at 1:04AM EST (link)

You can’t be that stupid, can you?

You seriously believe that a college educated woman, who has teachers for parents, doesn’t know that Africa is a continent and not a country? That she doesn’t know the nations in North America?

…are being used so frequently that its beginning to sound like anti-Palin talking points.

Of course this was her first time on the national stage, so she was going to make mistakes, but…..

…did you notice how she MADE McCain competitive? When he realized that she could inspire huge turnouts at rallies he began following her around like a puppy.

This would have been a 45-48 blue state landslide if she had not pumped up the base.

McCain would have lost much of the south and west without her, period. Obama’s turnout was that good and his was that bad, pre-Palin.

I donated time and money because of Palin

lonebeagle Thursday, November 6th at 1:13AM EST (link)

I donated for the first time in my life to a political campaign because of Sarah Palin. I gave the McCain campaign and the RNC $150. I also bought almost $100 of stickers, buttons, signs and t-shirts to promote the McCain/Palin campaign.

I volunteered last weekend to get up at 3:15 in the morning so I could take the “California Calvary” bus from Burbank to Henderson, Nevada and canvass Saturday and Sunday for McCain and Palin.

I’m also undeclared as far as political parties goes–I was a Republican Party member for years until the Party got a big head in the 1990’s.

I was going to register again as a Republican but after hearing and seeing this kind of pathetic behavior from the McCain operation, I may NEVER give a dime to the Republican Party ever again.

Right now I’M GLAD THAT OBAMA WON. Screw the Republican Party if this is what how they’re going to treat Sarah Palin.

I can tell you that it is absolutely ridiculous for anyone to claim that Sarah Palin didn’t know what NAFTA was or that Africa wasn’t a country. No wonder McCain lost–he was surrounded by a bunch of buffoons!

SCREW THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!!!! I hope that Obama wins reelection.

  1. I’m sick and tired of the GOP eating their own. For God’s sake, the Dems don’t even do that to their convicted CROOKS. Smearing Palin, who did a terrific job, is despicable.

  2. If the GOP tent is not big enough for Sarah Palin, it’s not big enough for me. I will become an independent. Then I can get EVERYONE’S attention.

  3. The elite arrogance need not expand beyond the beltway and Manhattan. The country can be run quite well with those that have NOT attended an Ivy League school. Otherwise, the GOP will shrivel.

Someone says there is a recent video of Romney bashing Palin on FOX. If it’s true, he’s done. If it’s his people, they should be run out of politics, and they do him a disservice. This whole thing stinks.

I agree and the blame Palin game is pissing me off.

nogyro35 Thursday, November 6th at 1:34AM EST (link)

With Obama’s huge turnout, and McCain’s lukewarm support pre-Palin, I can’t think of any other candidates besides Jindal and Palin, who could have prevented McBrilliant loosing 45-48 states.

What state was he responsible for carrying, besides Arizona? He looses the South and west without her. Obama’s turnout was that good.

Which blue state was close??!!?? Wasn’t a moderate supposed to make these competitive? Are the moderates Republicans going to blame her for losing Pennsylvania by 600,000 votes?

I have watched this type of behavior in the Republican party since they forced Newt Gingrich out due to low poll numbers.

Numbers that were better than Pelosi’s current numbers, incidentally.

The Party has no soul

lonebeagle Thursday, November 6th at 1:41AM EST (link)

Nor does Fox News. I’m not watching ANY TV news from now on.

Screw them. I’ll watch the Food Network instead and get my news online. I listen to Rush on my way to work. Who needs the MSM, of which Fox is a member.

Sarah Palin is an amazing and admirable person. I have no doubts that she is an intelligent and well informed politician and governor.

The arrogance of the MSM, liberals and the Republican Party elites is sickening. I work at a world class teaching and research hospital in Los Angeles and I graduated from UCLA. I’ve traveled outside of this country and I work with people from all over the world.

It is plainly obvious that Sarah Palin isn’t some pathetic stereotyped country hick from a bad TV movie made in 1972.

Our country is literally going down the drain because of this kind of sick behavior. We are at war right now and our soldiers are risking their lives to advance American interests and democracy.

And what is the response of the Republican Party? They are trying to viciously destroy an admirable and honest person who happened to save this election from being a total rout!

I feel that we are doomed because the Democrats are evil and the Republicans are just plain stupid.

Our country will get the government that it deserves.

It wasn't Tina Fey

finaljeopardy Thursday, November 6th at 1:44AM EST (link)

It was the fact that SNL began running on Monday and Friday, too. That 80% of the media coverage of Sarah Palin played up the stereotype pushed by Fey’s caricature. You also say video of these skits appearing on most network blogs. That’s ridiculous and disgraceful. The media is no friend to our cause or Gov. Palin. Barack Obama was put into power by entrenched special interests. They want to see him serve another term, and they want to finish off his opponents.

They are caricatures...

reggie1 Thursday, November 6th at 1:55AM EST (link)

…of themselves. McCain’s so-called campaign managers and strategists are the gang that couldn’t shoot straight. In the end, naturally, their objective is to lessen the blame coming their way. How fitting that their strategy is to trash Palin. They still don’t get it, that she is the one bright spot for which all their other shortcomings might be forgiven.

This is a fight to put an actual conservative on the ballot.

nogyro35 Thursday, November 6th at 2:02AM EST (link)

Not just one who talks conservative during elections.

I have watched frustrated for almost 15 years waiting for a national leader who can lead through words and example, with the drive to win.

I’ve had to settle for lesser candidates, like Bush, because we lacked candidates who could inspire the base through their words and their actions, both privately and politically (immigration?).

We may have 3 or 4 outstanding choices right now and they need to be given the chance. But they won’t be if the base does not fight for them.

Palin, Jindal, Coburn and maybe Romney (if he can prove that he would never govern like he did in Massachusetts).

They are the future of this party.

Heresay, just a lot of B.S.

AMEN!

Shawn Gillogly Thursday, November 6th at 2:11AM EST (link)

I said this before. McCain’s campaign was the worst-run post-convention campaign I’ve ever seen. Worse than Bush the elder’s 92 debacle. Worse than Dukakis in 88. Worse than Mondale in 84 even. Nothing in McCain’s staffers’ work kept this election close.

Only the weakness of Obama, and the enthusiasm that Palin brought the party made this election CLOSE. Even SLATE acknowledged that today in it’s postmortem. Why is it the best defender of Sarah Palin in the media is bloody LOU DOBBS!

The ONLY reason I held my nose and voted for McCain is Palin. The ONLY reason I fought for the campaign was because SHE deserved it. Same with my wife. Same with her family. And the McCain staffers want to lapdog their way back into the MSM and blame Palin?

Hell no! Count me in. I will take great pleasure in listing the name of EVERY person I find printing an anti-Palin smear in my diary on a weekly basis. And I will make sure that those entries are notarized so you all can link and comment on them to tell these imbeciles where they belong.

Leave the cannibalization for the LEFT please. It’s time we as conservatives retook the soul of our party and told the “big government” phonies to go take a hike.

Poor Choice

ephillips Thursday, November 6th at 2:12AM EST (link)

Sarah Palin may be a genius. She may have great political instincts. But, it takes time and experience to develop the skills and knowledge base necessary to look polished and authoritative in front of a national audience. To have expected her to pull this off in a matter of weeks was not prudent. And therefore, if there is any blame, it must be on McCain.

Find them, expose them

DaMav Thursday, November 6th at 2:18AM EST (link)

I do not believe these stories any more than I believe Obama thinks there are 57 states. For Fox to use an anonymous source as true without even treating it as an allegation is nothing more than a smear.

I am so on board with unmasking these dirtbags trying to destroy Palin. Just furious here.

Why do we care what the left thinks of her or us????

nogyro35 Thursday, November 6th at 2:26AM EST (link)

This is the attitude that caused our majority to begin to disappear in the mid ’90s and now its all gone. It was not the moderate wing of the party that created the majority in congress in ‘92.

And saying Palin was a drag on the ticket compared to say, BIDEN, makes no sense what-so-ever.

Where was there any excitement or money pre-Palin?

McCain had a few effective youtube videos, but he had no support from the Republican base that put Bush in office, twice. Palin overcame the bases’ misgivings about the Maverick and gave him a shot.

McCain looses huge without her period. 45-48 state huge, because Obama’s turnout was massive.

BS

JakePrime Thursday, November 6th at 2:31AM EST (link)

I call BS on the whole thing. There’s a lot of blame to go around and no one wants to take responsibility.

Not the left

JakePrime Thursday, November 6th at 2:38AM EST (link)

We don’t, but we should care what the center thinks.

Biden was not a drag on Obama whatsoever. He was a smart pick politically that bolstered Obama’s foreign policy rep and shed off questions about his inexperience. McCain’s surprise pick of Palin neutralized any immediate gain for Obama, but the image stuck.

Also, you can’t blame Tina Fey and SNL. Blame the news media, the ones who are supposed to present a balanced, nonpartisan perspective. Comedy shows don’t have a responsibility to be nonpartisan. Even taking that into account, the SNL skits sometimes seemed more balanced than the news shows they parodied.

I cannot see how this is not necessary.

nogyro35 Thursday, November 6th at 2:45AM EST (link)

It is becoming obvious that the Beltway types in the Republican Party are not going to stick up for the future leaders of our party.

And those leaders are looking better than any I have seen in some time. Leaders who can articulate conservative values and show that they live them (personally and politically). Leaders who bring huge crowds and lots of new conservative voters.

After tearing Palin down, who’s to say they wont go after Jindal or Coburn if it suits their purposes. Letting this happen unchecked would be something our party regrets for a long time.

We are not being stupid or petty. You are being short-sighted.

Anyone attacking or insinuating

kowalski Thursday, November 6th at 3:01AM EST (link)

Anyone attacking or insinuating anything negative about Sarah Palin who is a member of this party is going to suffer some terrible consequences for a long time if they do.

Sarah Palin graciously and enthusiastically accepted one of the toughest jobs in the world: to inject some energy and vitality into a campaign that needed it by the trainload full, in an historic contest against a person who was made into an almost Godlike political icon. She got pilloried by the media, had her email account broken into by the son of a Democratic state legislator, had an army of op-research investigators dropped on Alaska to dig dirt on her and her family, was excoriated as someone who “abused the powers of her office” in the manufactured scandal of “troopergate” and became the target of the Harvard/Radcliffe Women’s Studies Hit Squad and Cheerleading Team.

Her entire record of accomplishment in public life was reduced to a T&A poster/incompetent bimbo caricature by Tina Fey.

Sarah Palin put in the effort during this election. She was a terrific VP nominee during an historically “max difficulty” election. I wish McCain himself would say something at this point. He really needs to start knocking heads.

Erick, please stay on this and track down every single name you can, because those people are never going to be allowed to forget it.

I AGREE!

lonebeagle Thursday, November 6th at 3:12AM EST (link)

Well said. Okay John McCain, be a man and speak up for your better half!

Sarah Palin saved your campaign from losing in a landslide and you owe it to her and yourself to put a stop to these vicious rumors.

I will lose all respect for McCain if he doesn’t come to Sarah Palin’s defense and speak up like a man.

Maybe that’s the problem, McCain really isn’t a man.

SAZMD Thursday, November 6th at 3:23AM EST (link)

McCain owes Sarah Palin a debt of gratitude. For him not to immediately come to her defense, especially after his nice words during his concession speech, makes him look like a jerk, and frankly, dishonorable. She saved his campaign, worked her heart out, took unprecedented abuse and kept on smiling and packing in the crowds. She had the most watched convention speech for a VP and for the debate, where she rocked.

She was unrealistically expected to rally the base, carry women and shore up independents all at the same time. What exactly was McCain supposed to do then?

Frankly, it doesn’t matter to me if every last rumor is true, you don’t trash someone like this. It is disloyal beyond belief. It is shameless. It makes me physically ill to hear it.

Why would anyone want to hire someone who would do this?

I understand your concern about what the center thinks.

nogyro35 Thursday, November 6th at 3:26AM EST (link)

I have watched the Republican party try to appease the center for the last 12 years and in the process lose all ability to govern.

We lost our way when we assumed getting the center’s votes meant appealing to the left. It does not. The Center only trusts the left right now, but the Center is not the left. They lean left because they do not remember ‘92 or are hoping this time it will be different.

In ‘94 we gained a majority in Congress and the Senate, not by worrying what the center thought, but through education and the fact that the Left had shown it’s corruption.

However, when the Center saw us begin to do the same thing starting in ‘96, we began to loose our credibility and the left began to regain it.

As soon as the Center realizes anew how the left intends to govern, and “reshape” this country, the left will loose it’s hold on the Center and we will have an opportunity to reeducate and try governing again.

This time we have to fight corruption from within so as to maintain the centers trust.

I was sick to my stomach yesterday that McCain had lost, but after watching and listening to this attempt by his campaign to destroy Sarah and place the blame on her, I’m glad that man isn’t my President. He would have done major damage to the Republican party if he had been elected. I should have known what an @sshole he was from his SNL skit mocking Sarah. The man has no class.

Sarah Palin was the only bright spot to this whole sorry election. So let’s get back to supporting true conservatives like her, and throw the RINOs under the bus.

and I say that as a non-religious somewhat social conservative more interested in defense, low taxes and real liberty. I was reading The Next Right last night and the suggestions there for fixing the GOP start with expunging it of the “fundies” or religious fundamentalists. To me fundamentalists are Islamofascists, so I was disgusted and am writing that site off. The sanctity of life is not a quaint, old-fashioned and extreme principle; it is core to conservatism.

I am 100% for Operation Leper. Expose every one of these Palinhaters and make sure they never work on another Republican campaign. I’ve also deprogrammed FNC from our favorites on the DVR. There will be no TV news in this house. Call it silly, simplistic, whatever you want, our sanity is more important. Any news I need I can get without TV; I’m proud that I did not watch 1 minute of election coverage (pre or post) - I was working, anyway, but that’s not the point. The point is I’m done with FNC, with the enemies of conservatism in our own party, and I’m rooting for the abject and howling failure of the Dems.

But we have to clean house, because until we do we can’t effectively fight the Left and the great socialist middle who go along to get along, much less the traitors in our camp. Boehner is a good guy but a top symbol of our failures. McCain has an honorable history but was incapable of being a leader, much less a good conservative leader. The Senate is a hall of mediocrities, none of whom should ever be considered for president.

I’m full of the 5 stages of grief, not proud of it, but nowhere ready to be rational. As for Obama, I hope he never has a single decent night’s sleep in office. I hope he’s crushed by the burdens. He wanted this, now let him suffer with it.

RedState is not trying to tear down the Republican party. It’s trying to root out the quislings and self-interested political operatives who, if allowed to take root deep in the party, will damage it.

Integrity is not a “nice-to-have” thing. Especially in a respectable political party.

These folks need to go. We need to root them out.

Here is the thing about social conservatism in the upcoming struggle

kyle8 Thursday, November 6th at 7:26AM EST (link)

The right to life is paramount, and it is also a winner in elections if you don’t run from it.

But all the other social concerns are not only not winners, they turn off a lot of people.

Right now you must pick and choose because the ONLY way we will make any headway against the Democrats now is to pick a few issues where we can have credibility and push those forward.

The public will not listen to a long haraung from us, they don’t like the republican party right now, and they will not be for anything that smacks of Bushism.

So for the social conservatives I say you get the right to life issue right now, that’s it. For economic conservatives. the most important thing will be to keep the governments hands off our IRA and 401K’s. For foreign policy conservatives you get Keep up the vigilance against terror states. NO talk of expanding the USA roll anywhere else, that is a non-starter. For good government types, we could launch an all out assault on agriculture, ethanol, and other subsidies. It would be both the right thing to do, and popular.

Something for everyone, but if we try to do too much, we will make no headway at all. We have to wait for the Dems to screw something up then we can jump on a new issue.

Pragmatism must trump ideology when you are at the bottom of the heap.

This people didn't realize that even Jindal didn't take McCain's offer because McCain really sucked (using a conservative standard).

Rod_Patrick Thursday, November 6th at 7:55AM EST (link)

No. We at least had a “competitive ticket” in the last election because of that courageous woman….

Her name is Sarah Palin.

Like Reagan, she accepted the call to be a VP pick despite the tumultous environment ahead. She has accepted all the mudslingings and lies with a SMILE.

That smile gives many of us, the conservatives, a new hope for the future.

With Sarah, the conservatives have realized how much valuable are the young republican leaders including Jindal and Cantor.

With Sarah, the conservative base have realized that the times of Guiliani and Romney are over. Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson are now considered by many as more of “republican elders”, with Fred Head is better to be a republican worthy of a seat in the SCOTUS.

McCain lost but Sarah has gained so much. Conservatives have also gained in this exercise by realizing our follies, by being “too trusting” and “too complacent” all the time with the RINOs and traitors. We can nolonger offer stale candidates. We must offer new faces, with new ideas but real accomplishment unlike Dem’s Obama.

And we have these potential figures. Sarah can continue her job in Alaska. Let her make Alaska as a very progressive and a model state for the entire country. Let Bobby challenge that too by making LA another model republican state. Let Ohio, PA, Michigan, New Mexico, Iowa and Illinois be envious of Alaska and Louisiana. That’s Sarah and Bobby’s job. Let Cantor show his true grit by courageously battling the Dems and Rinos in the House. Let Cantor show to the Jews that it’s better to be a conservative rather than a liberal. Let us support these new leaders.

Nuff said!

Only conservatives will get my vote ever. No more intermarriage with the liberals and democrats and…

No more dictates of MSM!

If she is allowed to be destroyed, then I am destroyed. She represents my life and my values. When Sarah isn’t allowed to be in national politics, no one like me is allowed. She is what the founders intended. She is the citizen politician.

If she has no place in the Republican party then neither do I. She represents the soul of the party and the only reason I bother to care about politics. When all the GOP is about is taxes and war I leave.

Our values determine our future.

come back; McCain didn’t win, so we need you guys more than ever.

Yes, he ran a bad campaign, and I think it is not him, so much as his staffers, wanting to blame Sarah Palin. But again, he is in charge of the whole thing.

My other point is he picked her; if he wasn’t sure about her knowledge, it is his fault, not so much hers.

Pam

McCain just lost.

DRP Thursday, November 6th at 8:04AM EST (link)

He lost after campaigning for the better part of two years, too. Give the man a break here - Sarah came in during the last few months, not after that grueling campaign McCain conducted.

If I was McCain, I’d probably want to go drink some beers and take a few days to go fishing and decompress a bit.

I appreciate this!

pwest Thursday, November 6th at 8:09AM EST (link)

I don’t think the Republicans will purge Social Conservatives; some may want to blame us but they can’t!

I voted for McCain, and I personally like him. I honestly don’t think he is blaming Palin; I think it is his staff.

He picked her because he saw her ability to communicate to the average Joe’s out here that make the country work.

Pam

Bingo.

Moe Lane Thursday, November 6th at 8:16AM EST (link)

The bright side is that this is a post-Election Day issue. We will have other issues to deal with, soon enough. Lots of issues, and this one will make way for it.

Well.

DRP Thursday, November 6th at 8:26AM EST (link)

Actually, if I was McCain I’d probably be curled up in a fetal position right now, crying my heart out.

Fortunately, I’m not McCain and he’s made of some fairly tough stuff. But I’d still imagine he wants to decompress a bit, and I don’t blame him for not instantly riding back into town to defend Palin. If he’s still silent in a week or so, well… that’ll be a different story, and more interesting, story.

Not sure on this one...

Shawn Gillogly Thursday, November 6th at 8:27AM EST (link)

Reading the article, it looks like he may have been asked to leave because the staffer he “trashed” was one whom we have already saw DID trash Palin (ie: Wallace).

If he was fired for defending Palin from someone who we know trashed her, he doesn’t deserve the colony.

Shawn Gillogly Thursday, November 6th at 8:32AM EST (link)

Until the last line. No, pragmatism is never a good trump. Pragmatism is a losing proposition, always. Pragmatism is the self-defeating prophecy of “We do what works.” When it doesn’t work, you have nowhere to go.

You pick your battles, yes. But you pick them on the basis of what lets you gain the most without giving up your core values. That’s not pragmatism, that’s wisdom and tactics.

Pragmatism has to be purged from our vocabulary. It is the word the moderates used to run themselves into power in the party…and out of power in the country.

The attack by McCain’s staffers on Palin is disgusting. Saying that she didn’t know Africa was a continent and didn’t know which North American countries participate in NAFTA doesn’t pass the smell test. This is a nasty attempt to smear Palin and ALL conservatives by playing to a wider audience the MSM’s stereotype of conservatives. Name their names. that’s what I was thinking too…without Palin, McCain loses another 6-8 states easily, maybe more…

the ONLY thing that campaign had going for it as far as enthusiasm (and fund-raising…which Palin was also great at…I guess these jerks have forgotten that already) was concerned was Sarah Palin. Period.

I’m all in for the leper colony idea…any Republican running in ‘12 who hires any of these pieces of rubbish will not get a vote or a single red cent from me.

Gossip is not reporting

w3bgrrl Thursday, November 6th at 8:55AM EST (link)

The problem with your assertion is that you equate reporting with gossip. A real journalist does not parrot gossip because the source may have a motive to lie.

A real journalist will take the gossip he has and investigate to find the truth and then report it.

So, no, Fox has no obligation to spread gossip.

McCain owns this defeat completely

And if he does not tell his minions to stfu about Gov. Palin, he is going to have no support ever from anyone who gives a fig about him.
He chose defeat by not telling the truth about Obama and FNMA.
He chose defeat by not bothering to learn all of the stuff Obama himself said about the economy, coal, energy, defense, taxes, etc. etc. etc. and teaching the American people about it.
McCain chose defeat by allowing Obama to tell lies about him and to get away with it.
McCain chose defeat by his flaky campaign suspension/non-suspension.
McCain chose defeat by spending his career as a Republican…battling Republicans.
Palin drew bigger crowds than he did.
Palin was harder working than most of his staff.
Palin at least bothered to attack Obama and his loony tunes friends.

The reason 20% of conservatives voted Obama

WillWong Thursday, November 6th at 9:00AM EST (link)

is because 1)they are too lazy to do their own thinking, 2)too blind to see, 3)too affected in their pocket book to care, 4)are just conservative-in-name only (CINO). Nothing to do with McCain!

“Truth can stand on its own and needs no help from half-truths, shades of grey, white-lies, or plain lies”

Excuse me

jcheney Thursday, November 6th at 9:05AM EST (link)

If McCain ran such a terrible campaign, why did he get nearly half the vote? Obama’s campaign has been called the most brilliant in history, so how is it then that McCain came so close in actual votes (obviously not electorial)?

If Palin was such a bad pick, why did the base love her so much, and draw so many crowds? She was even the darling of many of the former Hillary supporters.

Why is it that Carl Cameron would report a rumor without a source? I thought that was a no-no in reporting. Isn’t that why the John Edwards story wasn’t reported prior to the National Inquirer breaking it because there were no facts to back up the rumor, even though they were sitting on the story?

Why does the Republican party have to take such hits from the media, then the Democratic party gets a pass? (Well, maybe that was a dumb question)

Why are we focusing on stupid issues like problems in the McCain campaign when we have a new President that had so many issues during primary?

Maybe my questions have obvious answers, but I feel that instead of trash talking about McCain, we should look forward to who will be our new representatives for the future.

And one more note to the McCainiacs

hunter Thursday, November 6th at 9:06AM EST (link)

seeking to blame Palin for McCain’s problems.
HE. CHOSE. HER.
This only makes McCain and his idiot staff look even more immature, unprofessional, manipulative, and irresponsible.
This urge for conservatives to stab themselves in the back at the direction of democrats is deeply ingrained in Republicans and I, for one, am sick of it.
When the democrats get tired of having man guilty of negligent homicide in the Senate for forty years, and stop running people who attend racist churches for President, I will start worrying about how Sarah might hurt someone’s feelings.
The FOX bs piece boils down to whether or not Palin was well prepared for some of her early interviews.
That sounds like a failure of leadership from McCain, to me.

Kirk Jowers, head of Utah Republicans for McCain.

Kirk Jowers of the University of Utah’s Hinckley Institute of Politics said Romney is clearly the leading contender for the party’s nomination four years from now.

“Republicans are nothing if not predictable,” said Jowers, who is now head of Utah Lawyers for McCain. “Republicans have nominated the second-place finisher in every election since 1976, with the exception of our current president.”

Jowers said Palin has not “distinguished herself as a competent vice presidential candidate, and that is going to be a heavy anchor to drag into 2012.”

I’m comparing Sarah’s VP acceptance to Reagan’s acceptance to Republicans’ nomination against Governor Brown of California.

Reagan knew that it was a daunting task to challenge Governor Brown, who was considered as the “favorite son” of California. Reagan was also mocked by the Democrats and some of his co-Republicans as inexperienced, non-Ivy League politician, B-movie actor, and so on.

Reagan also managed to accept all the mudslingings and the vicious attacks with a “SMILE”, giving the conservatives “hope” for the better.

Here is a news flash. There are only two viable parties in the United States. The Democrats and the Republicans.

Right now, it is true that the Republican stock is down. Maybe it is out, but until it has gone to zero it is a viable party.

We do need to identify and remove from power those that are not conservative or feckless in their beliefs.

There is a cancer on our party. It is the moderates who doom us to failure. Just because some people say they are conservative and in some sort of power, Media, Government etc. doesn’t mean it is true.

During the Last Debate, I saw grimacing from Obama. I tuned into the FNC afte-debate talk and saw, to my astonishment, so-called conservatives totally trash McCain. McCain was very good during that last debate. Obama was reeling. Even the MSM people saw it.

I had to turn it off. If Fox News can’t find a real conservative for it’s All Star Panel, I am not watching. I’ll tune in from time to time to see Hannity, but that is all.

Call me what you want, just don’t call me late for dinner.

Suzy Thursday, November 6th at 10:10AM EST (link)

I know they pay lip service to the fair and balanced thing, but what do you think would happen to their ratings if all of the conservatives stopped watching? I heard a few times the reporters saying that Pew research found they were watched by Democrats, Independents and Republicans equally. Really? They would no longer be #1 if the Republicans stop watching. But they don’t care and the coverage over the next 4 years will be heavily skewed toward Obama. O’Reilly led the way with his fawning coverage of Obama just to get him on his show. Watch for this to continue the next 4 years.

He has forgotten that Romney had a very poor performance in his bid for Presidency during the primaries.

Rod_Patrick Thursday, November 6th at 10:23AM EST (link)

Honestly, Romney doesn’t have the “it” factor. He tried but he knew he wouldn’t survive. I blame Newt Gingrich, Charlie Crist and Tim Pawlenty for not making a try in the last primary. And I blame my fellow conservatives who didn’t support Fred Thompson. And I was also very sad when FredHead immediately pulled out of the race during the primaries.

I think it has something to do with the lack of “resolve” of these leaders in the fight against the Democrats (either Hillary or Obama) in this Democratic Year. I honored McCain for that.

Many republicans thought that Democrats would win the landslides based on the turnouts on the primaries. But walla! We still got the 56 - 57 million votes. That’ despite the financial resources by Obama and the Democrats. Why is that?

Palin disproved the notion that:

  1. Conservatives and republicans are dying. There are still about 40 million or more Americans who believe in conservatism. That’s a lot.

  2. Obama is unbeatable. We were winning this election until the Financial Crisis hit us.

By Palin’s courage of accepting the VP nomination, she showed her class as a courageous conservative leader. Like Reagan, she is ready for any kind of battle… even if the battle seems to be unwinnable.

By that, no conservative has the right to deny Palin the right to be the leading contender in the next primaries.

Furthermore, we must realize that Obama’s victory represents a NEW BALL GAME now. Old timers like McCain will have no chance again vs. the “young” Obama. It would be too hard to sell to the vote swingers and independent the names of old timers who lost in the republican primary.

Palin still qualifies as a new blood. Jindal too. Cantor too. Let us support their political careers.

Let them fight it out in the 2012 primaries, with the requirement that Reagan’s 11th Commandment must be strictly followed. Let Fred Thompson (or Newt Gingrich?) chair the RNC.

1> If you really think Fox News was unfair to the Republican ticket, you are having some sort of breakdown, as that position is untenable in any fact-based environment.

2> “Operation Leper” is a farce. You will ALL end up backing whatever candidate you think best suits your beliefs and self-interest regardless of what staffers they have working for them. You know, I know it, we all know it. Worse, it is stupid policy. Would you forego a strong, conservative, viable, winning candidate because of the identity of a staffer, and instead back a weak, doomed-to-fail candidate whose staffers have passed some sort of purity test? Really?

Grow up. Post-loss fingerpointing is an unattractive but inevitable part of the process. It is over in another month or so, and then everyone takes a breath and gets to work. Only amateurs or losers let it bother them.

voted for Obama is because for the last 10 years, the Pub leadership (including Pres. Bush) have been so raptured at the thought of bipartisanship and new tone that we became indistinguishable to the casual conservative to the Dem/Socialists.

When our candidate can sit in debate after debate and not once smack Obama around for his tax cuts for 95% of Americans meme by informing the avg American that the top 5% already pay 60% of the taxes, and 40% don’t pay any taxes, why should we be surprised when the casual political follower is confused.

For heaven’s sake, every exit poll showed that more Americans thought Barack I’m a Marxist Obama would cut their taxes than thought that the Republican nominee would cut taxes.

I’m guessing that the whole South Africa thing could be as simple as her asking “do you mean South Africa, the country, or south Africa, the part of the Continent?”

In the hearing of someone who was also tired/emotional/under pressure, and maybe who didn’t like her for some other reason, that comment could EASILY have been misconstrued into “good grief, she doeesn’t even know Africa is a continent!”

You know, I swallowed a lot of McCain’s c@#p and voted for him in part because of Sarah Palin’s selection as VP. Now that I see how McCain and his team are throwing Palin under the bus I know that I should have stuck with my original thought to not vote at all. I will never again compromise my beliefs in order to get the lesser of 2 evils.

If McCain doesn’t come out and denounce this I will contribute to whom ever runs against him in his next AZ election.

McCain needs to be added to the list if he doesn’t put an end to this.

Now Rush is on board!

Wonderful; great job folks!!!

Perhaps McCain’s name should be added to the Leper list unless he speaks out…

This really gets me po’s that some a-holes are doing this to Palin.

I am all for doing whatever it takes to make sure that Sarah is saved from the lynching that the McCain people and Fox News feels she deserves.

I am just SICK….but, I am sending a thank you card to Sarah, and I will let her know that SHE is the one who got me to the polling place on Tuesday, not McCain.

Oh…and this “anonymous” stuff stinks out loud. If Carl Cameron has a story, he better name names or shut up.

Symbol vs substance

davyd Thursday, November 6th at 1:15PM EST (link)

I think with some effective introspection you will realize that you want the *idea * of Palin much more than the real thing. It is becoming more apparent that she is in fact an incurious, ignorant, unprincipled diva who is not actually a reformer. But she talks a good game when properly prepped, has phenomenal superficial people skills, and is symbolic of the culture wars.

Don’t forget, she’s being trashed primarily by her own party.

Republicans can embrace her and be a minority party of hate and division for a long time or go back to our roots of true conservatism.

Neither the true nor symbolic Palin is a positive thing for either party or country.

Three more names you can add to the list:

ocleverone Thursday, November 6th at 1:23PM EST (link)

I will help in whatever capacity I can. Just name it.

I was a ground pounder in this election cycle. Talking to people, 10 to 1 enthusiasm for Palin over McCain. That was the bottom line.

For campaign staffers that want to trash this woman I would caution them. Had she not been on the ticket, their performance would have looked ridiculously pitiful. You should thank her for making you look as good as you did.

I am fed up with the Republican Party. In August, I saw a group of Republicans take the floor to make a stand on drilling. I, for the first time in a very long time, was excited! We were finally growing a backbone. Then many in the House stood and said no to the first bailout bill and I said “Yesssss!” and then it disappeared for the sake of politics.

No longer will I allow my local committee, my state or national organization to kowtow to liberal positions nor will I be silent with my elected officials. I will fight tooth and nail to reclaim the principles that made us who we are and who we can be. It all begins with exposing them.

Name those names, Erick and shine the light of truth on these worms.

I think Palin destroyed herself. She said and did things she probably wouldn’t have if she had been in control of her
situation, rather than being an arm of the McCain campaign.

She fills the void that Ann Coulter left before she went over the edge and went too
far.

After she finishes her term(s) as Governor of Alaska, she could easily
transition into a regular radio host. I don’t think a Senate position would be very
beneficial. 4 years is a long time to be willingly punished by a Senate majority
that will consider her to be a losing laughingstock. And she would ready in 2012.

She is being scapgoated

Count me in!! My beautiful RED state of Colorado went BLUE on Tuesday and I want it back. In order to do so, we need to rid ourselves of these rats and bring back the base.

Sarah Palin was the sole reason many people I spoke with even bothered to vote at all. Obviously, her popularity is a threat to the self-esteem of the the folks who ran the McCain campaign (and perhaps McCain himself)- GOOD. It’s about time that they take a LONG look into the mirror.

Anything I can do - I’m here.

MadScientist - The scientist part is a joke right? A scientist would imply a certain level of intelligence and knowledge of “basics”, correct?

For example, most 5th graders know that states do not have mayors, they have governors.

So maybe before you so indignantly criticize Sarah Palin, you should go back to elementary school and get some basic instruction in civics.

Romneybots, anyway

And here’s another leper name: Kevin Madden. Google what he said on CNN a week before the election. He was trying to throw Sarah Palin under the bus even then — one driven by Campbell Brown, at that. His association with Romney is obvious.

Include me in your battle to reclaim our party

FloridaBabe Thursday, November 6th at 3:16PM EST (link)

Erik,

I want to thank you for standing up for Sarah Palin. This woman single handedly energized our base. I traveled an hour 3 different times to see her here in Florida. The crowds were huge. I believe she was more popular than John McCain. My daughter voted for Sarah Palin and that white haired dude running with her. My sister-in-law was voting for Sarah, not John McCain, for President. I could sit here and write all day on the amount of enthusiasm people I know have for her.

I am so disgusted at the “moderate” spinless Republicans that have infiltrated our party. We have to get them the hell out if we stand a chance of reclaiming and repairing our “brand”. Let them become Democrats, because I believe that is what they are.

As far as Nicole Wallace goes, I think George Bush has been the poorest communicator of any President I can remember, and I remember all the way back to Nixon. Her reputation should already be MUD. Let her go work for Katie Couric, because she should already be used to poor ratings.

I knew Schmidt was a loser when he claimed credit for the speach Sarah gave at the convention. What an ass. As if any political leader writes their own.

Call them out for the weasles they are, and I will forward any and all posts to everyone in my address book. This is war, and I intend to FIGHT!! We absolutely can NOT let them contaminate our party any longer.

I would like for everyone to try and send Sarah an email or letter showing her our support. This woman and her whole family put it all on the line this campaign. She tried to fight, and was muzzled at every turn. If I were to compair this election season to a war, it would be Viet Nam. Sarah was fighing with one of her arms tied behind her back. She had the biggest “pair” on the ticket, and wasn’t allowed to use them. I think she handled herself with dignity and grace, inspite of enormous odds.

People act like if John McCain would have chosen Mitt Romney it would have been a different result. Mitt would Not have carried the evangelicals, and I believe the Obama campaign has dirt on him. As a matter of fact they had dirt on “everyone” they thought was on the short list, with the exception of Sarah. The pick of Sarah, as evidenced by the massive witch hunt which ensued after the announcement shows just how off guard they were caught.

We can not let this stand. Consider me a foot soldier, with lipstick, in this war!!

Count me in, too

RedWhite_and_Truth Thursday, November 6th at 3:46PM EST (link)

I’m sick of ALL the RINOs infecting the Republicans. Conservatives need to rise up strong again, articulate our principles, and beat the Left back into submission, if not oblivion. If anyone is not on board, then don’t let the door hit you on your backside on the way out.

And not apologize for our principles. You never see the Left apologize for anything.

Name the names, Erick!

Good riddance to the G.H.W. Bush Republicans

RichmondG30 Thursday, November 6th at 5:06PM EST (link)

“Moderate”, “Northeast” Republicans have effectively destroyed the Party of Reagan. What sunk John McCain was John McCain. Examples in no particular order:
-cap and trade
-amnesty
-global warming
-Gang of 14
-Campaign Finance Reform
-”No” vote on Bush tax cuts
-kid gloves for terrorists

The economy tanks and all he can talk about is EARMARKS! Do you know how maddening that is?!?!

Sarah Palin is the best thing that happened to the McCain Campaign. I fully support Operation Leper. Good riddance to the “Moderates”.

Just a question

Hugh_Jass Saturday, November 8th at 1:34PM EST (link)

I just have a question regarding for you all regarding Palin. Let’s say for the sake of argument, that these latest revelations regarding Africa etc. are in fact true. Does this concern any of you that you want a person with this level of ignorance to run the most powerful nation in the world, or does this strengthen your feelings with regards to her qualifications?

I am not saying that it is true (though it is not a huge stretch), but asking for answers as to how you would feel if it were.

What about Salter?

sweatingbanshee Saturday, November 8th at 7:24PM EST (link)

I’ve not been one to call on John McCain to speak out about this. I really think that, at least in the news media, this story needs to die. And John McCain wouldn’t be the one with first-hand knowledge of any of this, anyway, so his defense of Palin would simply be seen as his coming to the defense of a woman and people would say that she can’t handle herself. I think she can handle herself, and I think she’s handled it quite well by herself, so I don’t need for McCain or any other person without first-hand knowledge to speak out about this to the news media.

However, almost every person on the senior staff has come out with denials. Some of them could be lying. But has Mark Salter said anything to confirm or deny this stuff? He was the main one always trying to protect McCain’s honor, so I would imagine that he’d have some himself, but I’m surprised that no publication has contacted him, especially since he’s the other party in the alleged bathrobe incident, which Steve Schmidt denied.

Joe Biden

Putter Saturday, November 8th at 7:51PM EST (link)

will provide far more fodder for SNL. It is important to note that Biden is as sophisticated and informed as he is ever going to be. He was supposed to provide adult supervision for Obama. I can see him in the VP office, spinning in his new chair…wheeeee.

Then, there is “the One”. In trying his hardest to be all things to all people, the SNL jokes will write themselves. Meanwhile, back in AK., Sarah will be burnishing her credentials and 91% approval rating. You will go back to working under a bridge….

A number of Gov. Palin’s staff have not had her best interests at heart, and they have not had the campaign’s best interests at heart,” the McCain insider fumed, noting that Wallace left an executive job at CBS to join the campaign.

CBS, huh? Jeez. Idiots.

How would you feel, Hugh

If you knew that Obama had worked closely with an organization who is currently under investigation for voter fraud, palled around with a man who organized bombings that killed American citizens and attended a afrocentric, racist, hate-America church for 20 years?

That would be a helluva thing, wouldn’t it?

Agreed.

Now, for your side. Your top of the ticket encouraged credit card fraud and massive violations of campaign finance law, including foreign donations. Does that bother you?
