EDITOR OF REDSTATE

I need your help

Friends, it is exceedingly important that the men running for RNC Chairman be asked this question. We need to know what they will do with the “consultant rot” that has affected the GOP and stifled innovation.

Please go here. Please go through the painless registration process and vote for my question.

We need to make sure the candidates for RNC Chairman are asked this question.

Go here for the background information.

I may be picking nits here but knowing why the question needs to be asked would go a long way in getting my vote for the question!!

“What will you do as RNC Chairman to ensure there is no self-dealing among RNC staff and consultants and as part of efforts to mitigate consultant self-dealings will you commit to legitimately bidding out all of the RNC’s vendor contracts for mail, phone banking, and GOTV programs?”

Is/was there some “inappropriate” or questionable dealings going on??

I e-mailed a picture of that t-shirt to a lib friend of mine…he had to get the joke explained! He didn’t talk to me for a while…ahhhh, blissful silence!!!

I went to Erick’s diary that NightTwister linked to upthread!!

    Never mind! Got my vote!!

There were a lot of great questions. This should be a great debate.

I posted this on Twitter as well. The more votes the better. #hhrs

Why? Because I don’t have the time. That’s why all my columns convey all relevant facts within my columns. All links are for supplemental purposes for geeks that have the time.

Therefore, I am the voice for the average person and I am above average.

The column should not require additional clicks to get the point across.

One of the main points that underlay my point is that we win mainly via substance on issues, and not procedure. This is inherent in conservatism.

Don’t get me wrong via procedure. I’m all for it. But columns that home to convey the overall message, not to mention the details in the weeds, must convey enough info in the main column to propel additional clicks.

  • Mike gamecock DeVine

I used to have the time and did click, click, click

But I don’t now, and I think I have stumbled into a truth that we all need to internalize. The 24 hour day can’t be repealed with any technology and, I was confronted with this fact by others wiser than me for the past two years. Technology like Twitter is important, but mostly near the end of campaigns.

What others tried to explain to me for years but that only saw after being wrong in my optimism is that the swing voters are can only be reached with this type of technology near the end but that we can reach them in the other 20 months between elections by having elected repubs make the substantive arguements against the left in public, esp on TV. They must be emboldened not to fear the drive bys.

That means that our role as internet geeks is to boldly take on the msm pc police to give support to elected repubs that fear the msm.

    more later

that means that we don’t write columns that mimic the left and their msm conventional wisdon memes

that is all we can do

    more later

    This was a reminder.

Click or don’t click, it’s up to you I guess.

If you could be specific about your topic within the first dozen words, instead of wasting your space and my time with trivial phrases like “Why? Because I don?t have the time. That?s why all my columns,” then I’d have time to read it (perhaps).

Unfortunately, because you couldn’t get to the point (not to mention the fact that you utterly failed spoon-feed me in the way I demand), I didn’t get to read it. Ah, well.

  • Mike gamecock DeVine

and I thank you for this. This 46 yr old has never stopped wanting to learn or teach and knowing how young you are and yet how wise you are already is humbling. I love you brother and i love Redstate.

  • bs

…a lot of question submitters out there who believe the RNC somehow makes policy in government. Some really stupid questions – fortunately, many of them have been “awarded” negative votes.

Looks like your request is helping, Erick. Totals are looking good right now.

  • 1SGinTN

but have yet to get my confirmation email to be able to vote. Yes, I checked my spam folder.

At least I got to look at the questions. bs is right, there is a great need for negative votes – anything and everything seems to be thrown up for consideration.

If it is “blissful silence” that you got from him, I think you should have put “friend” in quotes!
    LOL

  • http://conservablogs.com/publiusforum/ Warner Todd Huston

Thanks for taking your valuable time copying and pasting the question I could have seen hours ago by making one click, but instead wrote about 10 comments here to complain about not having time to click.

Now, could you go register for me and vote yes for me? I just don’t have the time to make all those darn clicks. And my time is valuable, man!

I will write back 6 more times to remind you, so you have a little time to get it all done for me.

…aaaarrrgh… get OUT of me ghost of Mike DeVine.

And I clicked on every link, ‘cuz I have no life.

  • http://www.erickerickson.org Erick Erickson

No respect. I go away for a few hours for beer dinner and come back to this.

    Heh.

  • bs

    In my book, at least.

  • http://www.scottbomb.com scottbomb

I filled out the form and all it did was go back to the previous page. No confirmation of registration, nothing. I couldn’t log in.

I swear, until the GOP recruits some employees who know who to run a website, we’re doomed. This isn’t the first time I’ve had trouble registering on a conservative website.

  • 6eorge Jetson

if that’s not the experience of everyone here

  • USNJIMRET

    the question in question.
And yeah, some of the proposed questions are. well stupid.

  • Mike gamecock DeVine

That columns should that want to make a point should not require clicks down a rat hole

  • MathMom

I voted for Erick’s question, and submitted one of my own. This t-shirt is why! My question follows:

I am dismayed by the voter registration fraud committed by ACORN, and the way they create chaos for local election boards as they submit thousands of bogus voter registration forms at the last minute. This organization must be stopped, and we must gain back ground lost to their tactics. What will you do to combat ACORN, and get Republicans on the ground to legally register new voters?

  • MathMom

I registered and had my confirmation email immediately. Clicked on the link in that email, and now they’re calling me by name! I feel so important!

Just sayin’ it worked for me. Dunno why.

  • Mike gamecock DeVine

used the saltsman/duncan matter to address the larger issue of the lib msm lie that repubs are racist and smacked them back.

GOP, can we talk? We are the minority and as such, we must seize opportunities to debunk the msm lies about us.

Blackwell gets it and got it from jump street.

    Embrace him.

  • zuiko

    It worked for me.

  • http://conservative-and-proud.blogspot.com/ eschristian

    in less than a minute???

  • zuiko

The ones asking about support for 3rd party candidates instead of Republicans are among the best.

  • http://conservative-and-proud.blogspot.com/ eschristian

so hopefully a big bump in #’s – but looking great now ; )

  • http://conservablogs.com/publiusforum/ Warner Todd Huston

I agree with you on the basic point. On the other hand the next 95 posts where you kept asking everyone to post the question sort of undercut your concept that you are lazy. A REALLY lazy guy wudda just given up.

But, seriously and all joking aside, I do understand your point.

  • Mike gamecock DeVine

it means a lot coming from you

  • 6eorge Jetson

if we are doing it ourselves. Then this type of waste of others’ $$$ becomes an “Everybody does it” issue, and our case for smaller govt weakens substantially.

Further, I’ll posit that one reason that Republicans got stuck with effectively the sole culpability in the credit crisis was McCain’s hesitancy to attack the Democrats’ protection of the egregiously levered Fannie/Freddie “hedge funds” in an aggressive manner.

One likely reason for his hesitancy is that his campaign manager accepted fees from one of the two. Oops, I guess Republicans will just have to bear the entire culpability (which should be equally shared) for McCain’s political expediency.

    That’s a HUGE, HUGE cost.

You were changing diapers and making goo-goo noises. :->

  • peg_c

Although my registration also took overnight to come back. It is a bit of a rathole and I do have about 8 “Welcome to ATR?s RNCDebate.org website” windows open. I just wish I could come up with one great question myself (that isn’t dripping with snark). Personally I’d like to kick the RNC’s can down the road for a few days.

I’m afraid my 1st question would be why does the RNC hire telemarketers who sound like they’d vote for ANYONE but our guy/gal.

  • Wubbies World

The question I put in was:

#87: I the wake of the last two elections, one of the issues I have seen on blog sites revolves around the political strategy of the Republican Main Street Partnership. There own web site states their goal is to reach across the isle in bipartisanship with the democrats and to combat conservatism. As RNC Chairman how do you feel about members of your own party who’s stated goal is to combat members of their own party, but reach out in friendship to the opposition? Will you take any actions to prevent the undermining of the party from within?

    Here is the link:

After reading yours and MathMom’s responses, I thought I’d try a 3rd time. Again, the result was the same as I posted before.

Jsut so you know, I’m no amateur to the internet. I’m no html expert but I do I have two of my very own websites and I currently post and have posted in many, many forums over the years. In other words, I’ve done this before.

The site Erick provides above simply won’t register me. Screw it. Although after reading the links Erick posted, I don’t care that much about it anyway. Had this call to action been more significant, as in say, a presidential election, I’d be raising h*ll with the powers that be. But in this case, ah, screw it.

My main point is very simple: Those who wish to gain serious numbers of people on the internet to back a cause must have the people in place who have the time and resources to make it work. From what I’ve see (or more like NOT seen), the site Erick linked to doesn’t fit the bill. I began wondering the same things about Redstate until a month or so ago when the 500 errors FINALLY stopped appearing every time I wanted to read or post something. Granted, the 2008 election is over. The proof or real change will come in 2010 and 2012.
