Call Senator John Cornyn and Ask Him This Question

According to Congressional Quarterly,

Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, the new chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, is staking out a sharply partisan approach to the task of rescuing his party from the steep losses it suffered in the last two election cycles.

Cornyn, who once shared former President George W. Bush’s hard-edged political consultant Karl Rove, has already gone after some of President Obama’s Cabinet nominees. Now he intends to target Democratic senators who vote for the economic stimulus package (S 1) that Senate appropriators and tax writers are slated to mark up Tuesday, a version of which (HR 1) will be on the House floor Wednesday.

But John Cornyn voted for Timothy Geithner to be Treasury Secretary.

Call Senator Cornyn at (202) 224-2934. Ask him how we can trust him with our money to fund Senate races if we can’t trust him to vote against tax cheats for Treasury Secretary.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Sen. Cornyn,

It has been brought to my attention that you voted for the appointment of Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary. As a conservative in the Republican party this is disturbing to me, to say the least.

Now I understand that I am not really one of your constituents, and therefore you don’t really need to answer to me. Regardless, you are one of the few true conservatives left in the Senate, also you are the head of the NRSC. For these reasons you represent more than just Texas, so I hope that you will listen.

How can I trust that you will stand up and fight for conservative Senators and conservative positions when you have folded to the pressure of the Obama Administration on the Geithner confirmation?

I stood up for you with regard to your objections to Sen. Clinton’s appointment to Sec. of State, and now feel as though it was nothing more than political theater, rather than holding firm on conservative principle.

Obviously you cannot change your vote, Geithner has been confirmed. Going forward how will you re-establish the trust of so many conservatives who see you as one of our few champions in this perilous time for our party, our ideals and our nation as a whole?

Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter.

Respectfully,

“Big John” also spoke against Hillary’s confirmation, then voted for her anyway. Maybe six years in the Senate didn’t teach him that speeches and votes are part of the public record; guess he’ll be learning that over the next six.

So much for a breath of fresh air in Senate leadership. Can we get a GOP leader who (a) IS conservative, and (b) ISN’T a hypocritical idiot? Doesn’t look like it….

Isn't the word "Senator", and "Hypocritical Idiot" redundant? nt

Put Cornyn out to pasture with the other nag's

This is the type of behavior that has me seriously considering a Republican Party exit.

I say let’s draft Robin Armstrong for a primary challenge or replacement

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson

why I wrote the NRSC back when I got the ‘money bomb’ request last week stating that I’m waiting for ‘proof’ that the GOP will wake up and stop talking the talk but walk the walk. I further added in my response that I would be waiting on the outcome of the RNC Chair race.

No Sen. Cornyn goes and does this. Brilliant, simply brilliant.

Normally with what’s obviously a form letter to everyone that emailed him on the same subject. His office is better about responding than Kay Bailey Hutchison’s is, in my experience.

As a constituent and long time supporter who has been a member of the RNC, a precinct chair in the last three presidential election. a delegate to the senate district and state conventions during that same time I can’t express the disappointment in you for voting for confirming Timothy Geithner to be Treasury Secretary.

Is this what we can expect from our leadership from now on…Senate Republicans have laid down on Hillary Clinton’s appointment to State despite her husband’s solicitation and contributions stuffing his bank accounts from foreign governments who will be seeking favor from his wife, (Thank you for your effort there by the way), Now they’ve confirmed a tax cheat (including an affirmative vote from you) to oversee the IRS and fiscal matters in this country…(what do we say to all the folks who are now in prison or up to their ears in tax debt having their wages garnered for tax evasion when the Secretary of the treasury has avoided paying his taxes for eight years and likely perjured himself during his Senate confirmation hearing)?

Add to this the increasing frustration from grass roots Republicans it the grass roots level at the continued capitulation with the Obama administration and the wholesale buy in of the entire socialist agenda such as nationalizing whole sectors of the US economy and I can tell you…you guys have no idea of the tsunami the party is about to face in the next two elections!

In short…shame on you Senator and I hope we can expect better from you in the future!

Thank you Erick for bringing this to everyone’s attention.

Cornyn has shown himself to be inept as a leader of the NRSC and it would be worth our while to have him step aside now as opposed to after the Democrats obtain a 60+ Majority in the US Senate.

You cannot block Hillary Clinton’s nomination on “serious grounds” and then turn around and vote for her the following day and have credibility. His vote yesterday for Geithner is downright a total deal breaker.

I say turn the heat up on all the Republican Senators and URGE them to push Cornyn out of the NRSC Chairmanship NOW before it’s too late.

Senator John Cornyn votes for Geithner and I’m supposed to trust his judgement to use my money at the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Thanks, but no thanks. I’d rather send that money directly to true conservatives like Bunning and DeMint.

As to Vitter, I would agree that he is a character.

Seriously, the whole Clinton confirmation process was a horse and pony show. Of course Clinton was going to get confirmed. Remember, the Senate is a pretty chummy club. DeMint apparently has a habit of tramping on Senatorial toes in both parties, and Vitter is desperate to rehabilitate his tarnished image among conservatives.

“I may have hired prostitutes, but I voted against Hillary.” Good luck with that one, Senator.

I find Cornyn’s vote more puzzling. He had a legitimate reason to vote no, and yet he passed it up. It’s pretty plain that our new Treasury Secretary was committing tax fraud. Even three Democrats couldn’t stomach it and voted no. Perhaps Texas is expecting good things out of the next tranche of TARP money.

Yeah, I'm sending emails to ALL of them.

I can see some serious conflict between her and The One. The friction could be productive for our side. Plus, she’s probably a lot more reasonable on foreign policy than many alternatives.

It’s not like he was gonna nominate a conservative, after all.

He voted in favor of $700-billion, too.

ss396 Tuesday, January 27th at 10:32PM EST (link)

He voted against the first bail-out bill that was submitted. But he voted in favor of the final bill. There was no substantial change between the two bills; the second one was merely a larded up version of the first (by a factor of about 8). He has proved himself to be no leader, to be panicky, to have no confidence in a free market. I am still incensed at him at him for that one.

If you pay someone to sit on his butt, you can’t be surprised when he does.
