Instead of Finding His Testicles, Mitch McConnell Loads Up on Estrogen

Senator Lisa Murkowski is a massive proponent of the Bridge to Nowhere.

She is pro-choice. She supports embryonic stem cell research. She refused to support the nuclear option to end judicial filibusters. She supports SCHIP funding. She is in favor of government funding of groups who provide abortions. [UPDATE: She just voted with the Democrats to get rid of the Mexico City Policy that Ronald Reagan adopted too]

She is now officially in Mitch McConnell’s inner circle.

Mind you, she is not all bad. She generally supports free trade. She generally opposes the assault weapons ban. But she is very much a status quo Republican. She is not a great advancer of the conservative agenda, let alone the Republican agenda.

If Mitch McConnell is Chief of Mediocrity, Lisa Murkowski is a great surrogate for him.

And so it goes.

of course now that the democrats are socialists in everything but name, I suppose that she has no choice other than to be a republican.

… feels very safe with being a maximum spineless squish and show his true colors.

Can anyone say buyers remorse as he walks away laughing? Almost our entire GOP senate membership have this cancer and we need to have it cut out, or we need to find a way to take away thier secutity and instill some voter fear into them and fast.

They wouldn’t be acting this way if they didn’t feel safe in showing thier contempt for the base.

if she had had to face the Republican voters in a primary the first time out. Even when she ran on her own, I truly believe that if former State Senate President and Commissioner of Administration (and my old boss) hadn’t left the Murkowski Administration and run to the right of her in the Primary, Tony Knowles would have been able to run to the right of her in the General and would have won that election.

Worse, appointing her doomed the Murkowski Administration from the outset; we never recovered from the opposition her appointment engendered. The People went right out and started an iniative petition, got it on the ballot, and changed the way Senators are selected when a vacancy occurs. Getting her elected in ’04 colored and in some areas dictated everything we did in ’03 and ’04. Good public policy would have dictated that I really confront some of our unions in ’04, but electoral politics dictated that we do what was necessary to have them quietly under contract during the ’04 election. That’s just one example; there was so much stuff we wanted to do, knew we should do, but we couldnt alienate any person or group that might be needed to support Lisa in ’04. Even so, it was a pretty close-run thing and might well have had a different outcome had Stevens and Young not come home and campaigned hard for her.

have to find it in their spine to start running against these squishies — in the primaries! They can start here in Arizona and up in Alaska and in Utah against Hatch.

but you could use her for one until you found one.
