The RNC Chairman’s Election

UPDATE: Blackwell drops out. Endorses Steele. Has the RNC gone the way of the country and put a black man in charge? Looks that way. MSM won’t change the narrative though, I guarantee.

Ballot 4:

Dawson 62
Steele 60
Saul 31
Blackwell 15

UPDATE BY JEFF: Duncan withdraws

Ballot 3:

Steele 51
Duncan 44
Dawson 34
Saul 24
Blackwell 15

Ballot 2:

Duncan 48
Steele 48
Dawson 29
Saul 24
Blackwell 19

Ballot 1:

Duncan 52
Steele 46
Dawson 28
Saul 22
Blackwell 20

The magic number is 85.

So it’s half plus one. For some reason I was thinking 2/3rds. In that case the voting would have gone until the next election, but, with the above numbers it may go that long anyway.

    Mike Duncan’s in the lead.

I’m officially in a bad mood.

  • Langley

With the second ballot results, Duncan supporters have to realize that there is a hard ceiling of support for him. Expect his voters to start dispersing amongst the other candidates in round 3.

the one that is behind will throw their support to the other?

  • http://www.AmericanThinker.com Hammer2008

Based on 2nd round, it looks like Duncan and Steele will hold on to the bitter end; wondering when this becomes a 3 or 4 person race.

And were not Dawson, Saul or Blackwell rumored to throw their support to another when they drop?

Lastly, any clue to a “live feed” on this?

I see C-SPAN has intermittent coverage.

I thought that normailly in elections like these, after each round the candidate with the least amount of votes is removed from the ballot. I don’t understand how the election will ever end if no names are removed from the ballot after each round. Can someone explain how the voting procedure works

There will be pressure for Blackwell to get out out of this if he is trailing by 25 votes, still 65 short of winning and losing votes each ballot Depending on who they go to it likely the restructing of the Blackwell vote will make it a 3 man field.

  • HaroldHutchison

I hope that Steele wins it.

If it’s Dawson, the GOP is hosed.

  • Illinicon

Duncan will have at most 40 votes.

I support, in order, Blackwell, Steele and Dawson, but if Duncan returns, I am an Independant.

  • Kevin Allen

My understanding is that there is no forced drop-off provision (per the campaign spot).

All of the people closely observing this election expected Duncan to lead after the first ballot. If he was close to winning, the expectation was he would win on the second or third ballot. If Duncan didn’t do very well on the first ballot his support would start to go to other candidates. Since he was only ahead of Steele by 6 votes, I expect his support to continue to decline. I would be very surprised if he won at this point. I could see him drop out after the 3rd or 4th ballot once it is obvious.

I don’t think the reported deal between Steele and Duncan was going to happen until there was several ballots taken. I think the third ballot should be very interesting.

In 1997 Nicholson was a distant third on the first ballot and I believe he won on the 5th ballot.

According to a report on The Corner by Katherine Jean Lopez Duncan has dropped out.

  • Mike gamecock DeVine

I was for him for months until the past few weeks when I switched to Blackwell

  • HaroldHutchison

Is the RNC that determined to give the mainstrea media ammo to use against us?

  • Lamplighter331

We manage to get Duncan out, so out with the old and then get this…Blackwell’s supporters have got to switch to Steele.

  • Samsara

I would say that the Magic “Number” in the RNC Chairman’s election is “Barrack the Magic Negro” by Rush Limbaugh. It eliminated one candidate and gave the whole race a different dynamic.

  • mikefisk

…it’s going to be Dawson or Steele. Blackwell and Anuzis are being undermined by RNC members from their home states (Anuzis’ foil, former Representative Yob, is mostly miffed over Saul’s tepid reaction toward McCain; Yob strongly supported him), so there are only two people without active antagonists in the field.

  • HaroldHutchison

I just hope it is Steele at this point.

Dawson’s gonna be hamstrung out of the gate.

  • Samsara

  • Whitehorse

Either Dawson or Steele would do well, though I prefer Anuzis.

Is the media so far gone that attempting to integrate an all-white club & then leaving after the rest would not go along bad now?

  • Kevin Allen

It will be interesting to see how many go for Steele. If not for the RLC issues, I think Steele would be a slam dunk at this point.

  • Whitehorse

    Blackwell endorses Steele!

  • AHALgal

    …although I liked Blackwell.

  • Mike gamecock DeVine

to fight back against them, we will be in the minority. Know what the “ammo” against Steele would be? See Clarence and Condi.

Know what our ammo is against the msm if Dawson wins?

He was endoresed by prominent black Carolina republicans.

We must run with it. Play by our TRUTH rules We lose playing by the left’s msm PC POLICE rules.

    ….the song did

  • Illinicon

Because if all of Blackwell’s support goes to Steele he has 75 of the 85 votes needed, it will be human nature for anyone voting for Dawson or Anuzis who isnt anti-steele to switch to Steele so they can be the vote to put him over. Of course if the majority of the RNC is absoutely anti-Steele Dawson could also win on this ballot.

  • Mike gamecock DeVine

because he had no reason to suspect the rule since he saw blacks laying the course all the time.

The fact that he is doing so well is actually a GREAT sign that RNC members are smarter than I thought given the large vote for Duncan who violated the rule that losers resign.

  • Mike gamecock DeVine
  • Whitehorse

I’ve had Steele as my #3 & Dawson as my #4 since the beginning – not a whole lot separating them…
