8:30 is my daughters bed time. But I will be using some form of electricty to make up for the carbon I would be causing by having my lights off to get the little girl to sleep.

I might be out of town during Earth Hour.

Will I get penalized if I turn on a bunch of lights, but not all, to make up the difference between turning them all on for that one hour?

Full power ahead at 8:30 tomorrow evening! I suppose it will save a lot of electricity for all those urban skyscrapers to turn off all their lights at 8:30 pm ON A SATURDAY EVENING, WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE BUILDINGS ANYWAY! Duh. What a statement - of stupidity!!!

Even with normal 3 day weekends(part time, yet well compensated gov’t employee), I put off my laundry AND IRONING until Sat night.
In the morning, I plan to make sure that I have enough incandescant bulbs to start a Christmas Tree fire burning brightly in Delaware.

Might even break out the RED Christmas light for a little extra emphasis.

I will forgo my normal practice of spending my hard earned money at local small businesses on Saturday, (I’ll visit them Sunday) just to make rich the local power monopoly. They’re not the guilty party. If they could do nuclear, they would, but too many NIMBY’s in Biden’s state.

I have notified the FAA that my house is not being illuminated as a substitute airport (KILG/KPHL).

So basically, EarthHour doesn’t really have a point, but it seems like fun, anyway. Just pretend it makes a difference in your head, and you can accomplish anything!

Last year, Google made it’s website all black in observance of Earth Hour. But it takes more energy for a computer to render black than it does for white. Way to go, nitwits.

Every light in my house will be on. Of course the lights in my garage will be on as well (3 4 foot fluorescent fixtures so I can work on my cars). I’ll have to break out my high intensity halogen work light–I haven’t used it in years. I’m going to put it out in front of my house and light up my house!

If it is cool enough I’ll throw a log on the fireplace!

Too bad gasoline bonfires are illegal–I have a gallon of “old” gas that I need to get rid of.

a couple of lights off in my two boy’s bedrooms, but the rest will be on. In fact, I have a pre-lit Christmas tree that hasn’t gone in the back of the garage yet and I’ll light it up.

To put myself in the proper frame of mind, I may go and buy more lights, just so I can turn EVERYTHING on…then, I’ll step around to the side of the house and watch the electric meter spinning out of control.

Did ya’all see that Fox News got the UN to lower their estimate of how much they will save by participating in this stunt? At first they were claiming $81,000. Actual savings $102. Someone else do the math.

Every light ; all TV’s with the surround systems tied in ; plus the computer and all three monitors. After cranking up the big Kitchen Aid stand mixer, my kitchen will then be awash with the smell of a baking cheesecake (Oreo crust of course).

I just bought an ice cream maker tonight, so tomorrow evening will be the first batch made (I’m thinking fresh banana fudge) ; I’ll take out some of the ice in the auto-ice maker in the freezer so it’s gotta go to work a bit ; even the Crackberry will get plugged in for recharging.

Hmmmmm, my carpeting needs a vacuuming….. got a feeling I can put that off until tomorrow evening as well.

A/C ? It will be set at 72 degrees of course…….. but I like a breeze, so all the windows and the deck door will be open, plus all three ceiling fans will be on.

Laundry……. Whoops ! Oh my, I forgot to do laundry the past three days…. looks like tomorrow night is the right time.

Funny how my dishwasher tends to be completely full on Saturdays after dinner too.

And for the ultimate topper……. If anybody happens to be able to look in my home, they’ll see me sitting quite comfortably at the kitchen table cleaning my pistols and doing the initial sights, rails and scope setup on the brand new DPMS-Panther rifle I picked up a few days ago.

Okay, we’re doing well by exceeding the goals that even Tim Blair has set.

The purpose of “Earth Hour” (sick) is to turn out lights and sit around in the dark (like Jean-Paul Sartre) thinking about how dark it is (like Jean-Paul Sartre).

The purpose of “The Hour of Power” counter-event is to light up creation.

Now, if we’re going to upgrade this into a real carbon celebration, don’t forget that a nice addition to make is to consume (and then restock later) various products, brought to your home from the farthest corners of the Earth in maximally-carbon-belching fashion.

That should be easy for everyone, as there’s no shortage of things to consume - such as South African wine, Argentinian beef, Chilean grapes, Ukrainian vodka, Estonian mustard, Albanian raki….

Maybe we should add dining events (to share the quenching of hunger pangs among the travelers) to all those Tea Parties - we can call them “Scr*w ‘Buy Local’ Dinners”….

You have my pledge. Although, I had already decided to do my own little Al Gore and his ilk protest when I first heard when this stupid thing was going to happen. I’m going to have all our lights on in the house, the porches, the yard, the garage, turn on the dryer, make coffee, (although nobody will notice the dryer and my coffee, but, what the heck it’s for the environment, you know!)

The bulbs on the high ceilings are such a pain to replace that I must conserve them. I have some low-ceiling bulbs and lamps I can keep on though.

However, I do have some extra 100-W bulbs that I found are too bright for my eyes. It seems like this will be a good occassion to use them.

And I’ve got my 1500-W space heater that I’m sitting by most of the day anyway (while still leaving the house heater on 74), especially in this cold weather.

I eat chicken or beef every day (hypersensitive gut), so that’s not a problem.

as they would raise the questions (point/truth) that those (including the underwater eruption) spews out more Carbon, Methane and other gases, etc, than we do as humans over years of time!!! They cannot allow that proper perspective to take hold and temper their Human Emissions Paranoia arguments.

Last year when this thing came around I turned on every light, the microwave and turned the oven to 450 and just let them go. I solemnly pledge to do the same again this year and then leave home and drive my SUV (filled with regular instead of the normal premium) around town for a full 60 minutes.

and all the light will be on there during earth hour so I’ll be doing my part. I also speak with the wife and have here burn as much electricity as possible.

I use electricity when I want or need it, as I see fit, and I pay the freaking bills.

What morons attach such great meaning to futile symbolic acts? I would be more impressed if they used the occasion to insert incandescent light bulbs into their rectums.

I wouldn’t embrace their extremist causes, but I WOULD be impressed!

living in a red state is, nobody around here does the idiotic greenie stuff, so we don’t have much to protest.

14 Bulbs (I replaced all with 100 watt.), TV, Radio, Music Player, 2 laptops will all be working. And yes I won’t be around… I’ll be driving. To Albany and check out the Tea Party spot for next month. Heat will be set to 80 degrees in the house and car.

Going forward I will take printout of every email I receive containing this comment or any similar green crap…. “Please consider the environment before printing this email”.

I’m in and to go that extra step I’ll leave all those lights on the hour before AND the hour after!
