Obama’s House Built on Rocks Will Fail

"So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ, And the blessings will come tumbling down."

Today Barack Obama took to the New Testament when talking about the bleak economic outlook his policies are helping create. Obama said, “There is a parable at the end of the Sermon on the Mount that tells the story of two men. The first built his house on a pile of sand, and it was soon destroyed when the storm hit. But the second is known as the wise man, for when “…the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house…it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” It was founded upon a rock.”

In fact, the title of the White House blog post is “The House Upon A Rock.” There’s just one problem. That “rock” Christ was talking about is Himself. In fact, while the King James Version of the Bible uses the phrase “a rock”, a more accurate rendering, which other versions of the Bible get right is “the rock.” Here’s the story in Christ’s own words:

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.

The “rock” is Christ and the Word. The “sand” is this reality — the one where Barack Obama is the secular messiah.

Barack Obama can claim to be a transformative leader. He can even steal Christ’s own words and repackage them for his own purposes. But he will fail. His policies will fail.

Barack Obama, in his actions and rhetoric, rejects Christ’s teachings — though he claims some kinship to the social gospel via social justice policies, which are just a bastardization of what Christ actually taught. The left loves the Sermon on the Mount, but chooses to ignore its deeper meaning — a meaning one cannot appreciate without first accepting the Risen Lord as the one path to salvation.

This Tuesday after Easter let me skip a bunch of paragraphs and get right to the point: Christ either died on the cross and rose again or he did not. If you believe he did not, you can go on about your business. If you believe he did, and you would be right, then you must reorder your life to put Him first. And putting Christ first means you value a culture of life over a culture of death. You value the labor of every man in each man’s own life. You value, at the core, Christ.

What you don’t do is repurpose Christ’s message to advance policies that hurt individuals, spread poverty through undermining individual initiatives for success, and obfuscate what Christ meant. The message is, after all, about Christ, not Barack Obama.

We don’t tend to get theological on the front page of RedState, but if Barack Obama wants to take from the Sermon on the Mount, let’s give him some too:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are(HA) ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

Matt. 7:15-20 (ESV)

Hmmn…I’ll have to think about that one.

It’s sad that Obama knows some of New Testament, but misses out on its real central theme — the salvation through Christ’s blood on the Cross.

If Obama does not believe in Christ as his personal Savior, then all good work he has done on this world will be for naught. He will be cast into the lake of fire where he along with millions of others will suffer eternal torment.

As in 2 Cor. 4:4, Obama is blind to the Truth, and I’m afraid that one day he’s gonna pay the price when he faces the Great White Throne of Judgment. In that day, there will be no escape for Obama, he can’t lie his way out of trouble. He can’t hide behind his eloquence of speech. In that day, he will have nothing to stand on, period.

It’s gonna turn out bad for Obama….

shall crumble…. as a rolling stone gathers no moss…. or something like that

The deaf and blind can see (figurative sense) clearly all that the Liberal Fool can look right at and/or hear first hand yet never comprehend… (With apologies and no disrespect for those with those senses that fail them in this life)

The ObamaZombies just keep lapping this crap up…. The thicker it gets, the denser they get!

When everyone knows of Obama’s economic policies, his position on abortion, his lies, etc. .. his taking from Scripture to make his own point displays his astounding arrogance.

I don’t suppose anyone on the Left will be howling about the ‘separation of church and state’ since the words from the biblical parable are coming from their Chosen One.

They will have to answer to God individually, so if they happen to be saved in Christ, they will be separated from Obama for good. Or if they are not saved at all, they will not see each other in the darkness forever. Obamas as the family will be destroyed.

Obama does like heat a lot, but this type of heat he won’t like one bit.

I’m sorry, but I think I’m getting off track here, and Redstate isn’t the place for theological discussions, so you’ll have to excuse me….

I disagree with both the theology and the prediction here. Regarding the prediction, one of y’all should really step up to the plate and take my bet:

Regarding the theology, this doesn’t address the budget issue specifically, but it’s some background:

these are two of the most stupid and moronic references I’ve ever seen used to make an argument.

Did you get paid to fail math and economics? It is inconceivable that anyone could tie statistics to the rack and make them scream and do it for free.

Wink, wink. Erick’s theology is just fine.

Erick?s excellent post of liberals’ selective quoting of scripture reminds me of something C.S. Lewis said. In The Screwtape Letters, C.S. Lewis warns Christians to put the Savior first and foremost in our lives, and recognize that all that is good comes from and leads to Him.

Screwtape, an experienced devil admonishes his cousin, Wormwood, an apprentice devil, on how to tempt and deceive the children of God:

All extremes except extreme devotion to [God] are to be encouraged…. Whichever [cause] (a person) adopts, your main task will be the same. Let him begin by treating [the cause] as a part of his religion. Then let him, under the influence of partisan spirit, come to regard it as the most important part. Then quietly and gradually nurse him on to the stage at which the religion becomes merely part of the ?Cause,? in which Christianity is valued chiefly because of the excellent arguments it can produce in favour of the [cause.]…Once you have made the World an end, and faith a means, you have almost won your man, and it makes very little difference what kind of worldly end he is pursuing. Provided that meetings, pamphlets, policies, movements, causes, and crusades, matter more to him than prayers and sacraments and charity, he is ours… -The Screwtape Letters, Letter VII

God will not be used as a mere convenience. He will not be mocked.

?And no, supporting laws opposing the killing of fetuses (babies), including live babies (i.e., infanticide), is not extreme.

….isn’t this the same guy who announced that “we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation” last week….???

….isn’t this the same guy who goes on about how “we are our brothers’ keepers….we are our sisters’ keepers”….etc….???

……is he really allowed to keep using Christian scripture to support his policies…???

    ……because i am getting really confused here……

    ……not…… :)
