just asked Barry what has “enchanted” him most about being president. Seriously.

The Live blog was truly fun and information. What I learned from reading hte live blog:

Pine Valley is still confusing
Vampires v. Werewolves should be interesting but is apparently boring.
The Tigers are somehow winning a ball game
Vacuums on balls can go anywhere
Obama is orange
The teleprompter had the night off.

Filibuster

Common_Cents Wednesday, April 29th at 9:35PM EDT (link)

Obama filibustered an hour away on what, 6-7 mostly softball questions?

He was all style(actually didn’t look very good) and no substance.

His answer on the flu situation, wash your hands and his team is working on it w/ smart solutions.

He is devoid of any substance and nobody calls him on it.

“Never interrupt your enemy when he’s making a mistake.” Napoleon - Well, unless he is ruining your country! Common Cents

A cult of personality arises when a country’s leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image, often through unquestioning flattery and praise.[1] Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships.

His answer on Pakistan was SHOCKINGLY naive

bk Wednesday, April 29th at 9:41PM EDT (link)

Chuck Todd asked if the US was prepared to protect Pakistan’s nukes from the Taliban if it came to that. The One said he wouldn’t “speculate” on that, but that he’s fully confident the Pakistani army will keep the nukes protected. He went on to say that the biggest problem in Pakistan was that the central gov’t wasn’t doing enough for the people in terms of setting up a good education system, judicial system, etc. Apparently if they fixed those things the Taliban would disappear overnight. Unfreakingbelievable.

same thing liberals do here in big cities

the ap is turning

mom2oneson Wednesday, April 29th at 11:38PM EDT (link)

Interesting on the AP.

Flagstaff Thursday, April 30th at 12:45PM EDT (link)

One of their “fact” statements is jumbled, though.

“Obama wants workers making more than $250,000 to pay payroll tax on their income over that amount. That would still protect workers making under $250,000 from an additional burden. But it would raise much less money than removing the cap completely. ”

That doesn’t seem to make sense.

Pluto, the Ninth Planet - Forever!

Perhaps it's a "doughnut hole" approach that's being advocated

civil_truth Thursday, April 30th at 12:53PM EDT (link)

In other words, workers would pay payroll tax up to a certain amount (95k?), then they would stop paying payroll tax until they hit 250k (the doughnut hole), then they start paying again on the amount over 250K.

This of course would raise less money than if the payroll tax applied to every dollar of wages.

The same model as the medicare prescription plan reimbursement schedule, where a middle amount is not reimbursed.

I think you're right.

Flagstaff Thursday, April 30th at 2:19PM EDT (link)

As usual, the AP story was unclear.

Caught part of Dennis Miller on O'Reilly - sweet!

Here are paraphrased versions of three of his zingers about the press conference:
* Obama should be comparing himself to Ward Churchill, not Winston Churchill.
* How screwed up is it when a Miss USA contestant gets tougher questions than the President of the United States?
* Helen Thomas looks like Janet Napolitano before you add the water.
