If the Florida GOP Can Do It, So Can the NRSC

The Florida Republican Party’s Chairman is announcing that the Florida GOP will now be neutral in the race between Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio.

Greer wrote:

As it relates to the Senatorial primary, the State party is neutral, no resources have been provided to one candidate over another and although I will personally support Governor Crist, I have great respect for former Speaker Rubio and his long service to our Party.

He is glossing over the fact that he tried to use party rules to get Rubio knocked off the ballott.

He is also ignoring the fact that he made clear at the RNC meeting that the Republican Party of Florida would be supporting only Crist in the Senate race and only McCollum in the gubernatorial race.

Still, this is an awesome walk back by the Florida GOP.

If they can do it, surely the NRSC can too.

    Heh

Greer must be catching holy hell from the Florida Republican PArty for him to about face after his spiteful comments up till now…maybe the squishes here will see what raising a fuss and not laying down to take it can accomplish!

    It’s working … Money talks.

but Greer cannot stop himself from displaying his usual arragance. His shot at Sharon Day revelas his real displeasure at having to retreat because his covert subversive attempt to undermint eh party grassroots was exposed by someone who apparently had better upbringing than the chair.

The soon Greer is gone, the better for the party. Crist would be well advised to distance himself from Greer ASAP. I forsee a real insurrection developing in Florida over Greer. He angered the party loyalist last year when it was reveraed how much he spent living it up on the GOP coffers. This does nothing to alleviate the concerns those incidents raised as to his character and judgement.

Sharon Day appears to be the only one of the Three State Committe members with any real integrity.

He needs to drop out and support Rubio

I grant you, I’m openly skeptical of Rubio’s chances against Crist in the Primary. Actually, I’d much rather have Rubio run against Alex Sink for the Governor’s chair.

Unlike you folks, I actually care that we control the Governor’s Office when time comes for reapportionment. Rubio would probably be our best shot for a Palinist to be in the Governor’s Mansion. I don’t anticipate that Al Cardenas will get in the race.

Still, this was a smart move by Greer. The RPOF has been clueless ever since Carol Jean Jordon made the mistake of lining herself up with Katherine. Since then, the D’s have grown in strength in the I-4 Corroridor, where elections are won and lost here.

Rubio could put a reform conservative face on the party, but he wants to run for Senator. I simply don’t think it’s the right move right now.

and I can see your reasoning…but would you run Crist for Senate…or do you have someone else in mind?

as I said in the other Diary you had the Poll on…. The NRSC should let it be… but part of the POINT (see points below) of why the NRSC wanted Crist is for his war-chest… He SHOULDN’T need any of their help!!! Let us see if Rubio can build up enough support to make the General Winnable and reward him then with the Primary nomination…. Decide knowing all below though…..

    Crist/Rubio
I’m not going to repeat the same things discussed on a daily basis but provide the links I decided to now keep handy since the Crist/Rubio thing just isn’t going to go away and I frankly think some of it is being distorted daily (look and decide for yourself)…. It’s all about returning to Majority status STRATEGY….

Crist is the more strategic choice because he appeals to moderates. Florida is trending toward the middle and the party would be wise to follow suit. Especially with stories like this popping up left and right: h ttp://www.newsy.com/videos/gop_soul_search each chronicaling the slow demise of the party due to infighting.
