The House Republicans have put together some data your local mainstream media outlet probably will shy away from discussing.
Today, Barack Obama told the public, “In these last few months, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has saved or created nearly 100 — 150,000 jobs”?
But that’s just not true. 16,000 jobs have been lost every single day since Barry’s stimulus plan was passed.
At some point the media cannot ignore Barack Obama and the Democrats killing the American private sector economy while claiming to “save or create” American jobs.
And note to the Democrats: creating government paper pushers is not the same as creating or saving private sector jobs. That is the Democrat rebuttal — they created government jobs.
Only the Democrats think more bureaucrats will save America.

Obama's policies have accellerated job losses.
Brian Hibbert Wednesday, May 27th at 6:09PM EDT (link)Including mine. My company has a plan to move certain jobs overseas. I won’t argue for or against the business reasons for moving the jobs, but it’s a plan that has been in place for many years and have been moving at a slow pace. I expected to be laid off in 2 years if they stuck to the plan. I was notified last week that I no longer have a job.
Since Obama’s election, the pace of outsourcing has accelerated. Entire groups have been moved overnight instead of over a period of years. My own group has tripled the pace of outsourcing. It seems the company has thrown these actions into high gear.
I suspect they live in fear that they will be punished in the future for actions that they consider a business necessity. Rather than risk the uncertainty, they are moving now.
And my company isn’t alone. Caterpillar has nearly shut down local production and I don’t expect much of it to come back.
Socialism doesn’t work. It looks nice on paper, but it’s been tried and it’s failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).

Sorry for your job loss
izoneguy Wednesday, May 27th at 6:21PM EDT (link)It is tough out there. Many of my clients have slowed spending to a trickle. Many are just in survival mode. And who can blame them when the president is in a “kill capitalism” mode? If you kill capitalism then you kill America. Where do the politicians think all the taxes come from?
2010 will be interesting - either we stop and reverse this slide to socialism or if it continues then by 2012 it won’t really matter who the president is.

minorcanmaven Wednesday, May 27th at 6:20PM EDT (link)Like you say - moving people out of the private sector and onto government payroll is not growth. Parasitic growth maybe. But, not healthy growth. Or as Obama likes to say “sustainable” growth. I really hate that word now.
He has put in motion policies and used the bailout fiasco to strong arm decisions which have gutted our economy. Be a long time recovering from this if we can make to 2010 and flood Washington with true conservatives.
That is, if all the global bullies haven’t cooked our gizzard first.
Not even parasitic growth
DerKrieger Wednesday, May 27th at 9:11PM EDT (link)A $50k salary in the private sector yields ~$25k to the federal government in the form of income taxes, Social Security (emplyer and employee) and Medicare ‘contributions’. The total cost of this employee is ~$60k not counting the cost of benefits.
A government job replacing the above private sector job costs the private sector $75k. The $25 k no longer paid to the government and the $50 government salary.
The cost of each government job that displaces a private sector job is tremendous.

Then Bambi-O needs to drop the word "saved"...
furious Wednesday, May 27th at 6:38PM EDT (link)…and stick with “created bureaucratic make-work” and drop “shovel-ready” for “three guys watching one guy lean on a shovel”.
Can’t wait for when the A(merica)COR(ps)N Census taker (”created job”) knocks on my door and starts askin nosy questions.

to be fair to a point...
DONTREADONME Wednesday, May 27th at 6:55PM EDT (link)that chart exagerates the bars by zooming in on the differential versus the full scope of the bars (i.e. the difference from Feb to May 9th looks like more than double the value of Feb).
BTW, before everyone yells at me, unemployment claims have risen >30% since February which is very, very bad.

bs Wednesday, May 27th at 7:19PM EDT (link)without the “stimulus”, even MORE jobs would have been lost! Don’t you get it? What are you, some sort of RIGHT WING EXTREMIST?*

Note: Ever since Obambi added the “…or saved” part to his stimulus propaganda, I’ve stated that he would use that part of it to claim that it’s working. This means that even in times when unemployment is growing, he can simply claim that it would have been worse without the stimulus. Unfortunately, his sycophants won’t call him on it.
Decorum is fo’ suckas
I love your chart.
itrytobenice Wednesday, May 27th at 9:41PM EDT (link)I would also love the see a companion chart or an addendum to this one that shows growth in gov’t jobs exclusive of military jobs. I’ll bet it would be the same slope and growth.
The problem with America is stupidity. I’m not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why don’t we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
I know economics is imprecise. . .
Rich Tandler Wednesday, May 27th at 10:12PM EDT (link). . .but “nearly 100 — 150 thousand jobs”. That’s quite a range there.
It sounds like Barak caught a fish that’s about 12 inches long and spreading his hands further apart as he tells the guys, “Yeah, it was at least two, maybe three feet long.”
Let’s take the low end and pretend that the stimulus has created or saved 75,000 jobs. At that rate it would take about two years to “create or save” 5 million jobs. The normal economic cycle, of course, would have us well into a recovery by then.
The tree of liberty must be refreshed with the tears of defeated politicians of BOTH parties and at ALL levels over the next few election cycles.
