I am interested in cap-and-trade programs because they would let the market, not the government, dictate how to lower harmful emissions. I believe that we have the technology and ability to meet the challenge of climate change in a way that will provide new economic opportunities and make us more competitive internationally while protecting consumers from high energy prices and breaking our dependence on oil.

Global warming threatens Florida’s fragile ecosystem and $56 billion tourism industry. Rising sea levels will encroach on Florida’s pristine beaches and harm coastal wetlands and the Everglades. Increased carbon dioxide and water temperatures will damage sensitive coral reefs and endanger Florida’s diverse marine species. A scientific study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded with 90 percent certainty that global warming is caused by the accumulation of man-made greenhouse gasses.

On June 26, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. The Senate is expected to consider legislation to address energy independence and climate change in the fall.

You will notice from his remark about “rising oceans…harming the Everglades” he is a full on-board believer in Al Gores claim that the oceans will rise 20′ (only way they can reach the Everglades).

The reality is that Bill Nelson has never had an original thought float through his brain. If it were not for the puppet strings racks controlling him, you would think he is dead. Wrack him up as a true Cap & Traitor.

We will have to excuse him though. He will not read the bill, not because he does not have the time, because he cannot understand written thought.

I lost my respect of Crist a long long time ago. Shame on him!

Dear Senator Cornyn, butt out, we can manage our own primaries here in the State of Florida. You might want to turn your attentions to finding someone to replace Arlen SPECTRE that is not a clone of that squish who also believes in bad science (bullets turning sideways and all) .

If Kirk’s not officially in, we don’t have to support him before the fact.

And if someone who’s more conservative than Kirk gets into that race, we ought to look very, very seriously at him…

Unfortunately, Crist got greedy (and likely a bit full of himself after handpicking McCain last year) and has caused the whole set of elections screwed up for 2010. People in good positions now have to try to move up before their time (McCollum for governor, and others too) and thus, the scramble is on. The governorship is up for grabs, and it needn’t be that way, and Crist is not a shoo-in for Senator.

And yes, Crist has not been a conservative. His dominance over the Florida GOP (with buddy Greer) really upsets local folks. The lesson: do not elect simple law-and-order Attorneys General to be Governor. There was another one recently…by the name of Spitzer. It is better to get someone who has made public opinions on legislative issues, and has had to live with those opinions.

I have ZERO problem with #2 as it is generally my position, and as you have seen I have endorsed people supporting Rubio — I just think the tone beats up on Crist (doing the Democrats work) and slams the door on the working-together. I will make no apology for the “opinion” that I think Rubio may not be able to have enough to take the General - so I’m willing to entertain the “exception” on/of my support.

The “Taxes thing” - I just want an honest portrayel that many FL Republicans dealt with Democrats to come up with that package that Crist, did indeed, NOT Veto and therefore went along with. It again goes to how we choose to excuse some States’ leaders in raising Cig-taxes (and what not) while not others…. I don’t expect him to have a FREE PASS on it. Past Tax restructuring has been completely, conveniently, (again, not exactly his plan but his involvement) overlooked on the Property Tax issues. Crist and taxes [includes press-links]

I do NOT want either sides’ supporters beating up the other and producing a give-away to the Democrats, as also discussed in your “Good” titled Diary.

Is he not objectively better than Roland Burris? Of course he is. If a conservative gets in who I think can win, I’ll support him over Kirk, but that person does not exist right now.

2. RedState and I both maintain an editorial position of supporting conservatives in primaries and Republicans in general elections. But were Crist the nominee, he’d lose even if we did all we could to support him.

Rubio also creamed Crist in a Pasco county straw poll, 73 to 9. Pasco is significant, as it’s leaders endorsed Crist early in the 2006 primary, and the governor himself once called the county “My Backyard” (he is from a neighboring county)
