I am so glad we are going to be talking about offline activities because online is great but we do need to be seen out in the general public.

Back about a month ago - what started online and led to emails, phone calls and then a rally on our town square the night of our County BOC's meeting - basically a TEA party helped our 2 GOP commissioners win a battle against 4 Dem commissioners - we won the battle of NOT raising taxes, NOT losing one single Public Safety job, and Cutting out ALL Pork!!!

I got involved in politics the end of 2007 because of the last Presidential election. In 2008 I attended a YR Top Gun class that Erick spoke to us about online info. + other great folks from many areas in politics.

I have attended my local GOP meetings every time that we have one (since I found them) and worked hard and became an officer. Now I am help working with people in the party to get the word out there that we are there. That is one problem I think there is. Many people do not know there are local parties. To be honest I was one until my friends in a county next to us told me about our party. Now our local party is on facebook, twitter, youtube, and has an awesome completely rebuilt website. We are getting ready to put up an online store to get great GOP products out there and raise money to help great candidates WIN!!!

Find your local party, get active and make a difference!!!

Monday the 6th at Robbins.

To paraphrase the inimitable Dr. Levin, it is not about what WE can do, but what I WILL do.

I'm ready to kick some ass!

in Indiana's 30th Senate District we will be choosing in the next month or so a replacement Republican State Senator. This will be chosen by roughly 106 (or however many of those show up) Precinct Committeemen. There are 4 candidates for this seat. One "party insider" lawyer (nothing against lawyers, but they are not exactly an underrepresented demographic in legislatures). One log cabin Republican who thinks that social conservatives are what are killing the party (as well as other fairly non-conservative ideas) and two conservative businessmen either of which would be good Representatives. What an opportunity to help the party go the right direction!

Quite frankly, Elizabeth, I think there is plenty of static content out there. We just have to look at the wealth of conservative thought and as Erick points out--get involved. We will regain this party from the inside out by standing up for conservative candidates, platforms, and chairmen. I am far less concerned about who the next Presidential candidate will be than I am with the quality of our ground game in the 2010 election!

Ron Robinson is spearheading it. The Open Action Center Development Team. An ad hoc group of volunteers trying to accomplish on the fly with the tools available the things you suggest and which the RNC doesn't seem to want to provide.

Go here to join and become a volunteer:

Thank you.

I am only one. But I am a conservative Republican Party precinct committeeman. And trying everything I can to recruit more.

I understand the metaphorical use regarding courage, taking a stand and all that, but this possibly might not be the best example. On second thought- burning Athens to the ground, hmmmm.

Yes, yes, I know. Before you say it, I realize they turned things around at Salamis and Plataea which eventually ended the wars. But I am just not sure if a battle which ended with heads on a post and all that gory stuff is a clarion call to service.

Erick, I agree with all you say above, but I will continue to argue that if we are going to coordinate this type of activism we need a mechanism better than a running blog. We need essentially static pages where we can collect information that will be permanently accessible. (And no, the RedState search engine is not good enough that simply looking for old blog entries is adequate.) We really, really, really need a RedState Wiki. For efforts like this, you could seek and appoint volunteers for each state who would have editing privileges for their state pages. Then you could collect and post information on when and where all these precinct meetings are occurring and which precincts are currently without captains. Without this kind of coordination, every one of else is left to hunt down the information individually; with the coordination, we save a whole lot of time and effort that can be better spent actually attending meetings and influencing people.

Just my 2 cents.
